^^ bad vocals never stopped people from buying other peoples music. lol And i dont always give him praise or positive feedback. I just dont do it here most of the time. But even if I do, I dont repeat myself ad nauseum. I'm a fan, so its not out of the realm of possibility that I also might tend to give more positive than negative feedback... otherwise I'd probably not be a fan. I do hope that you do reserve judgement of the cd until you've listened to the whole thing though and not just proclaim him a failure or deserve to fail before you've even heard anything else. Theres always gonna be some songs you dont like and some you do. Thats just the nature of it. You dont have to like everything. But at the same time being overly dramatic in a negative way, isnt really good for anyone. Negativity breeds negativity. ------------------- You have a misguided idea of what I'm all about if you suppose I'm not a fan. But that doesn't mean when someone you believe in is about to casually walk off a cliff, you don't cry out for him to watch out. Sure he may yet do well with this album and single--and I DO hope it's full of good stuff that will have broad appeal. I'm more than ready to reserve judgment. But there are three songs I've heard so far--all of them way below par--and this after a year of waiting to see what he'll come up with. I'm only commenting on these. As for repeating myself--it only seems that way. I've made three or four points, not one, each of them worthy of a separate post. One commentator even noted the thread was pretty interesting. Far more so, I would think, than the ad nauseam praise heaped on David day in and day out by starstruck fans for whatever cute thing he does or sings. There's plenty of that--and too little real criticism of bad management and bad singing.

Falling Stars sounds like it could be an epic ballad. It is! We got a small snippet of it from E-Man, sounds really nice Now I'm excited. You know how I love yr boi's ballads.

It was Arthouse Entertainment on Aug 13 that said Elevator would be a single: "Upcoming Arthouse single releases include Carrie Underwood’s “Mama’s Song,” Mike Posner’s “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” and David Archuleta’s “Elevator.” " www.melodika.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=54119&Itemid=50Hopefully that's a misunderstanding. I much prefer PANDA - I PANDA a LOT. He mostly stays in his middle range and he has plenty of room to add his style to it. praepos - I'm a diehard fan and I don't always leave nice comments on David's Youtubes. But I also don't leave insulting comments on Youtube if I don't like something he sang.

I guess his label is content with allowing this to sophomore slump.

praepos - David doesn't read the comments but fans and non-fans do. I've said before - my own musical taste is suspect - I don't like 1/2 the crap on hit radio this decade. I don't even listen to radio and I will buy David's music anyway so it doesn't really matter if I don't like one. I do hope others will if I don't. I comment plenty on the ones I love and that includes PANDA. David just sang on MDA. Nigel (who was sitting in for Jerry for 1/2 hour) introduced David really and mentioned what Yoko said about David's Imagine, pimped the album, called Things Are Gonna Get Better the single. MJS got a good video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cIa5W5a2L8And a video backstage of David talking about the album, Things Are Gonna Get Better and other stuff www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y08cd8ndBe8

I'll surprise you. I don't hate TAGGB. It's got the kind of low-key optimism that could resonate in hard times. It's catchy and pleasant with a laid-back country vibe.

They need to send 'Things Are Gonna Get Better' to AC asap. Maybe even HAC.

I really didn't like the John Denver type country vibe of Things Are Gonna Get Better. However, the lyrics were appropriate for a telethon and David sang amazingly.
Something that bugs me: Why is Jeff always lurking in the background?!! It seems like David always has to be "chaperoned" by a parent. Give me a break! Maybe he has to have them around to feel more confident...idk!

Well I would like to see the videos but I would have preferred more songs. They should have just given all fans those videos instead of doing it this way. I guess this means the Deluxe CD/DVD and non-preorder iTunes Deluxe have no extra songs at all.
This time, even though iTunes interrupted my preorder to agree to more agreements, the preorder actually went through and I made sure of that in my profile (something I wish I had done with his first album iTunes Deluxe preorder).

mikekmusic: Finishing touches on the next @davidarchie single today, off to Vancouver Tonight.

Elevator, Parachutes and Airplanes or Things Are Gonna Get Better. Those are the ones we know, right? Well, I hope it's between the first two, the third would make a terrible single.

Elevator would be a terrible single. I like the song a lot, but it's an album track. It might have a shot at HAC but definitely not CHR.

I'm disappointed that Elevator is the 2nd single. I also don't think it's quite up to being a single song. I hope they just picked that song because of its commercial appeal rather than it being one of the best songs on the album.

This all seems a bit messy. Elevator has a nice beat and the chorus is catchy, he just needs to change the way he sings, because it's terrible. But in studio it could be good. I don't mind it at all.

Re Elevator - Arthouse said it was a single back in mid August, and MikeK today said he was putting the finishing touches on the next David Single and told someone we had all heard it already. So it has to be Elevator unless for some reason they got Mike to put finishing touches on PandA, a song he did not produce. atgs - we have heard Elevator studio - ProFM played it one time I think last week as a special preview www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn7d8Zoq9PQ---- ClaudeKelly: 2 dope songs on David Archuleta's new album "Falling Stars" & "Complain". Produced by @emanuelkiriakou Can't wait 4 Archie fans to hear.

Frogcooke found...
oninovertop: @mikekmusic I hope that new mix is very different from the one played on the WPRO radio station. That one wasn't good at all. bad vocals 2.
MikeKMusic: @oninovertop it's very different and what you heard was a horrible mp3

well, he's right. It was horrible. I don't think radio would ever touch that one. Maybe with changes it could have a chance.

If I've learned anything during this time that I've been David's fan, it's that I should not judge a song based on some early version. Time and time again, I've been a part of some weird collective fan decision to "love this song clip or that song leak over others," and then the finished versions of all songs come out and we all find other, stronger favorites. (Jeez, Idol fan bases are invested.)
I adore Elevator, though. Love SBL too. This album's gonna rock for me, I think.

I think of what we've heard so far, PANDA (P&A) would be a better single than Elevator. I think it's melodically interesting, happy, and about love (not as much about ups and downs - much more about being with someone). I think it would appeal to more young people because there's actual a love relationship in it. And I love it because it shows off his singing style a lot in the mid-range parts. I love what he does with the words like higher and wire. Downside - those high note visits might be tough to nail consistently, especially w/o a backup track. PANDA (the one time it was sung, at BYU, best audio I think) www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwADbsmrHuk--------- This was earlier: TOSOD deluxe pre-order is now # 7 in top POP albums & # 27 overall on iTunes - regular version #50 in POP --- Currently the Deluxe is #8, and my active bookmark list only goes to 25

Guys take a look at this Top 40 Tracklist of David's songs! You will ROFL! It includes some songs from TOSOD. Absolutely hilarious! mormonarchuletafan.wordpress.com/All of them are funny but my faves are: "Don't Touch My Hand or Any Other Part of Me "and "Hey, Sweet Sister, Meet Me at the Temple." Oh and I can't forget "Things Are Gonna Get Better As Soon as Jive Promotes Me (TAGGBASAJPM)" -- funny but true LOL.

LOL Having fans picking their fav songs for a setlist just based on title is so pathetic. How old do they think David fans are? 3? 4?
