Releasing "100%" right now because of the Olympics makes me wonder why they didn't just release it to UAC and AC radio instead of "Angels Cry." It's like we have 3 new Mariah singles at the same time.

I would've kept Angels Cry on the backburner and given 100% the push because that song is a bonafide SMASH! Its the perfect season for the song. It has a good message (perfect timing with Haiti), good production and she is on her A Game with the vocals. When she starts in at the end with the choir in the background: And the last note proves Mimi still has it. :o

100 percent up to 67 on iTunes I hate oprah for taking this out of precious it's making it on strength of lyrics tune!!!! It seems lyrically more fitting for the Olympics than for Precious. Did they premiere the video for the opening ceremony? And, it's #158 on my iTunes. ???

They probably also wanted to pick an American star to sell the song to the American market. If you look at the lineup (Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Take That, Kylie, Robbie Williams, Cheryl Cole, Susan Boyle, Michael Buble, Mika, James Morrisson, Alexandra Burke, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Jon Bon Jovi, Westlife and JLS), only Mariah, Subo, Miley, and Bon Jovi are really big in the US right now. Of those, Mariah definitely has the most easily recognizable voice.

Read into it a little more. "She becomes the first artist in the survey's 17-year history..." If my math's right, the chart has been around since 1992/1993. Several of Mariah's pop number ones were earned in 1990, 1991, and early 1992. She's still the only artist to take her first ten singles to number one, just not on that particular chart. Still, it's frustrating to see Gaga and her camp exploit that technicality. Mariah was the first (and only, so far) artist to have that kind of success, so the accolade should go to her.

It is dumb as hell! I get so mad whenever I read "GaGa is the first artist in history to (fill in blank) on the pop charts." No, you aren't. MARIAH WAS!

The statement is always quite explicit when it comes to the chart in question, which was not in existence when Mariah racked up the majority of those ten #1's. So, no, Mariah wasn't. Mariah and other artists have established chart records based on technicalities, so I don't hold it against GaGa.

There are others, but those are two examples for sure. I certainly don't hold GaGa responsible, and they aren't technicalities. GaGa is a record breaker and those are her records. Certain websites just aren't specific, and form rather misleading statements when addressing those records.

Perez declared Avatar a flop after its opening weekend, so I really don't put much stock in his sense of what is/isn't a flop, record, or savvy business decision in the industry.

Anyone think Mimi may perform at the Olympics closing ceremony? Her last concert is set for the night prior (in Vegas). Don't know how much good it would do in terms of singles sales (based on her track record in terms of promo performances and singles sales), but she seems to be up for promo most of the time.
"Everybody Hurts" supposedly sold 433,000 or so in the UK. She gives a nice, restrained vocal for her part- actually, that track on the whole isn't so bad- maybe because it's truer to the original's sound than "We Are the World 25."

Tennessee was a great movie!!! I was surprised at how much I like Tennessee. It had a really low-key country roads feel to it which was nice for me because I grew up around low-key country roads. The story was very touching and the chemistry between all the characters felt very real and organic. The only part of the movie that seemed off to me was when Krystal was at the competition singing "Right to Dream" because for those few minutes Krystal turned into Mariah Carey, but the song is pretty enough and fitting enough. Too bad more people won't get to see it. My sister and I saw it in NYC when it was out in theaters and we were the only two people in the theater. Only time that's ever happened to me.

Hey guys! New to the board :o) I just wanna say that I am a massive fan of Mariahs and have been since I first heard Hero so this is in no means me trying to insult her but I know this probably will insult some fans here but 14 songs for a concert where she would have been onstage for probably around an hour is actually quite insulting in my opinion. The setlist seems to be getting shorter and shorter like she just wants to get this tour over and done with.
Plus she only sang 3 songs from Memoirs (unfortunately one of them is The Impossible which in my opinion one of her most boring songs ever) but she sang 4 from TEOM, its a little confusing which album she is trying to promote. I remember her Rainbow tour where she was singing 9 songs from the album. I mean if she toured Australia I would definitely go, I went to her Butterfly concert and it was amazing.
And I know I may get backlash for this but this just some fair criticism. I love this woman seriously! And yes I would rather 14 songs then none but I would prefer 20 songs :o)
