^ She's fallen to two on iTunes to Vampire Weekend who I imagine aren't selling such a high percentage of their sales digitally and are projected 100k so I guess not. Oh OK. Thanks! Also, VW's is not on sale on iTunes like Ke$ha's. However, their album is on sale on Amazon I think, so they might end up selling high percentage digitally. I doubt it will be like Ke$ha's though. |

Lady Antebellum is doing so well. Their almost 2 year-old album is the #2 country album.
My question: are the very strong sales and chart positions solely because of 'Need You Now' huge success? If so, that is strange because their second album is not set to release until January 26, which implies they may have a MASSIVE sales week (adjusted for the sh*tty first quarter market).

But yeah, I think we can expect good debut numbers for the sophomore album. |

At this point, I don't see Rihanna's album scanning as much as the previous album, but stranger things have happened. Agreed. If it would have sold extremely well during the holidays I would have higher hopes but since it did okay it makes me believe that it will sell between 1.3-1.6 million (guesstimate). That is if they release the standard 4-5 singles without a re-release to boost sales..  |

Nice for MJB! She is almost gold. If she gets another single out and some promotion, she should be able to hit platinum Mary's a consistent platinum certified artist. I just hope they pick the right 3rd single at least to eventually hit 1 million. |

I actually don't think Kelly Clarkson should be certified platinum at 819K sold. It is clear that she won't sell one million of this album anytime soon. So why continue to give her platinum certifications? This will be her second album in a row to be certified platinum without ever hitting it. To me, that gives the public a false sense of success. Plus there are albums that sell 1.8 million that are only certified platinum. Yet kelly gets platinum certification for selling 1 million copies less (at just over 800K)...that's makes sense how?

^ Certifications are based on shipments, and AIEW has definitely shipped over a million at this point. I doubt the most of the public will ever know/care what these albums certification is.
That said, it seems pointless to pay for album certifications just to be able to drop more money on a plaque when we're in a recession and the music industry has been declining for years. Especially for a project like this, which had fairly underwhelming album & single sales given the promotion & airplay it got.
