Anybody figured out who the "client" is in this part from the opening article?

Anybody figured out who the "client" is in this part from the opening article? Thinking maybe Brad Paisley, but that is purely speculation

I'm thinking it's Kenny Chesney. His career started around 1996, at least with starting to have success at radio. And he's been touring pretty much since then.

I don’t understand why the travel would be so different. Also, Kenny has a private plane, which makes me lean towards it not being him.

Also, Kenny has taken a couple of summers off over the last decade or so (not including 2020 and 2021). I think he was off in 2014 and 2019.
My initial thought was Tim McGraw, but seems like he didn't do a ton of shows this past summer and I feel like he doesn't always do summer tours.

Travel in the summer is generally busier, with school being out and more people taking time off. It varies from place to place, of course, but prices are generally higher in the summer for things like hotel rooms. The artists will often book out some rooms for showers, family visiting, etc. It can add up.

Right, and you asked why the travel would be so different, so I was offering a reason why. The money could still be great, but it could also mean worse travel conditions for a number of reasons: Longer layovers, gas prices, hotel costs, etc.

So I'm assuming this gives "Wishful Drinking" a shot at Billboard Country Airplay #1 this week assuming it gets #1 on Mediabase?

From my understanding they will be going by points as they switch to Mediabase, but the Mediabase panel for Billboard airplay charts will still be smaller than their own charts (sorry if that doesn't really make sense I tried to explain it the best I could lol).

Doesn't Mediabase base their year end charts on plays and not points though? It’s so confusing how they do their weekly charts. For instance this week Carly and Stapleton had more plays than Dierks yet Dierks was ahead of both on the chart.

I'm honestly not happy that they are going to use the point system, compared with straightforward audience. It also says Canadian data will be sourced from Mediabase, but I'm hoping it does not mean that Canadian Airplay Chart would be impacted by this change. Currently, they are based on the # of plays, which I definitely prefer. And I guess I have to say goodbye to This BDS site that I like to check the charts. Anyways, if they had to revise something, they should have introduced a stricter recurrent system in the US, like Canada, to avoid ridiculously long chart runs.

Where does it say they are going by points? At that point why even have two charts? The panels aren't that different. They can use the Mediabase data and still rank by audience

They do, but I think for the weekly country radio chart, its ranked by points (that’s why Dierks was ahead of Carly/Chris despite less plays). I believe Country is the only format that uses a point system but don’t quote me on that. 😅

They can use the Mediabase data and still rank by audience I’m just guessing they’re going to. I really hope they go by audience still or I’d prefer them to go by plays like a majority of their singles charts do. Country Airplay and Christian Airplay are the only 2 charts I’m familiar with that use the audience when charting them. There’s probably others but those are the only 2 I follow that use it anyways. I guess we will find out next week when the chart comes out.

There can still be 2 charts even though both are now using Mediabase. Billboard keeps compiling the chart the same just with Mediabase data instead of BDS (ranked by audience and keep same recurrent rule they’ve been using) and Country Aircheck keeps using points and recurrent rule they’ve used.

They also use count recurrent spins toward the year end chart while Billboard only uses the weeks they were on the chart for the year end chart.

So BDS website is officially done now...? Does this site work for anybody? This would mean that I have no where to check Country Indicator chart, and I have to go through annoying Billboard website to check Canadian Country Chart... :(

Pretty sure the Indicator chart is no longer.. That would be a shame. I guess I would have to just check Music Row Breakout Chart for the small market music scene from now one (I don't get CDX chart so).

Activator chart from MB is almost equivalent to Indicator chart in scope (smaller stations)?
