Maybe they will combine the Monday and Thursday update into one big issue for this week. Doubt it. I bet we get it this evening. Bad week for you not to do your predictions.

I was out of town all weekend though, and didn't get back until about 7 PM here, which was 10 PM on the east coast...and I didn't have any of the numbers or anything all calculated. I think I'm more addicted than Jordan Stacey is! ;) It usually takes a couple of hours for me to get everything figured out the way I want it.

O.K. Billboard, you just sent me an article about 20 artists tweets about Hurricane Sandy. Where is the update? Now, it is Taylor Swift's 1.2 million selling week. Again, update. Please?

www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/photos/pdf/2012/BB_cm_1030.pdfDue to conflicts between Adobe plug-ins and some browsers, if you are having trouble viewing the update, please right-click (or ctrl-command) to download the file to your computer, and then view it locally. I used IE & it came up.

Well, I can only hope that the fact we don't have a Thursday update means Billboard has given up on this new chart... *wishful thinking*
^Sarcasm, btw. Obviously, I don't expect that they will just get rid of it, at least not this early (if ever).

^Maybe they are delaying it a day like they did with the Monday update.

^Maybe they are delaying it a day like they did with the Monday update. They might be delaying the update but that's kinda pointless...I just checked Billboard's website, and the new Hot Country Songs is updated there. The top 25: 1) Taylor Swift - "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" 2) Carrie Underwood - "Blown Away" 3) Florida Georgia Line - "Cruise" 4) Lee Brice - "Hard To Love" 5) Luke Bryan - "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" 6) Hunter Hayes - "Wanted" 7) Jake Owen - "The One That Got Away" 8) Miranda Lambert - "Fastest Girl In Town" 9) Easton Corbin - "Lovin' You Is Fun" 10) Jason Aldean - "Take A Little Ride" 11) Rascal Flatts - "Come Wake Me Up" 12) Kip Moore - "Beer Money" 13) Taylor Swift - "I Almost Do" [NEW] 14) Justin Moore - "'Til My Last Day" 15) Dustin Lynch - "Cowboys And Angels" 16) Eric Church - "Creepin'" 17) Taylor Swift - "All Too Well" [NEW] 18) Gary Allan - "Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)" 19) Zac Brown Band - "Goodbye In Her Eyes" 20) Randy Houser - "How Country Feels" 21) Greg Bates - "Did It For The Girl" 22) Brad Paisley - "Southern Comfort Zone" 23) Kenny Chesney - "El Cerrito Place" 24) Taylor Swift - "Stay Stay Stay" [NEW] 25) Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen - "Fade Into You" [NEW] So Taylor hangs on to #1 for a 4th week on this new chart. There really is no way to know how close it is though. And also, I wonder if their airplay tracking week is different than the Monday through Sunday used by the Airplay chart? Because on Billboard's site (where I got the chart above), it said Justin Moore was the greatest airplay gainer, but on the 11/10 Country Airplay chart, Luke Bryan was. Oh well, the airplay chart is what counts, for me. :)

However, I have to love the Curb advertisement showing Lee Brice's Hard To Love at #1 (on the airplay chart). However, where is the one from Big Machine touting Taylor Swift's #1 (on Hot Country Songs)? How telling!

Could someone post it? I still like to read through them and check the callout numbers. I ignore the actual 'chart' parts

Question about Rodney Atkins at #34: He lost 59K in AI but still has his bullet. He did have +15 spins. However, The Farm, at #53, lost their bullet with -30K in AI and +24 spins.
I don't understand the difference. I could understand Rodney losing his bullet but getting a grace week just as Katie Armiger did at #47, but I don't understand how he kept his bullet.

I don't understand the difference. I could understand Rodney losing his bullet but getting a grace week just as Katie Armiger did at #47, but I don't understand how he kept his bullet. This is from the BDS website. The 2nd sentence explains the little loophole, which caused The Farm to lose their bullet, but not Rodney. Bullets awarded to songs showing an increase in audience over the previous week, regardless of chart movement. A song will also receive a bullet if its percentage loss in audience does not exceed the percentage of monitored station downtime for the format. This also explains why Parmalee, Tyler Farr, and Rascal Flatts all kept their bullets. But I'm pretty sure that Lee Brice should not still have a bullet, despite being #1 for a 2nd week. I believe that's an error on Billboard's part.

Thanks. Just when I thought I was about to figure it out. By monitored station downtime, do they literally mean stations are off air?

Thanks. Just when I thought I was about to figure it out. By monitored station downtime, do they literally mean stations are off air? That I do not have the answer for. But I think this explanation is really the only one. Because you never see songs lose a lot of airplay and keep their bullets...it's only when it's a very small audience and/or spin loss, that they sometimes keep their bullets, and I suspect it's because the percentage of audience loss doesn't exceed the overall percentage of monitored downtime for stations on the panel. That's gonna be a pretty small number I'm sure, but so is a loss of maybe 50k in audience (which is sometimes accompanied by a loss of a few spins as well. Spins, however, don't influence whether a song keeps its bullet or not). Notice that Katie Armiger and the Randy Rogers Band both lost their bullets, with AI drops of -58k and -62k respectively, but Parmalee kept their bullet, despite actually losing more spins than Katie (but again, spins don't matter when it comes to bullets), but a little less in audience, at only -47k. I bet they were only a few hundreths from losing their bullet.

^^ Yeah, have you ever been listening to the radio and then it just ... stops? I think that's what they mean by downtime. Similarly, some of the stations as they recover from Sandy might have a bit more downtime than usual. Three stations weren't used this week as a result, and, as noted in tonight's BCU, the York, PA station's spin tallies weren't used due to "excessive downtime." So I'm sure the monitored downtime from week to week is fairly small, but once it exceeds a certain threshold, the spins are withheld entirely.

^Agreed. And my interpretation of it is that, if the total percentage of downtime for the format is, say, 2.87% for the week (I have no idea what the actual numbers would be), but a song only loses 2% of its total airplay, then it'll keep its bullet.

Looks like Rodney will be out of danger this week. He has already gained more than 500K AI on Mediabase. I'm sure even if he had lost his bullet Monday, he would have gotten a grace week, so it all evens out.
Surprising that Billboard would make a mistake like that with Lee Brice. Of course, it won't really matter in the long run since it has a while before it goes recurrent. He will go recurrent at Mediabase Nov. 19 along with Carrie and Toby. That last-day pass by Luke cost him a week at Mediabase, but since they have "I Drive Your Truck" geared up and ready to go, I'm sure it's not a big deal.

^I don't think Billboard made an error by letting Lee keep his bullet. I posted about it in the "Hard To Love" thread. He only lost 850k, which was only about 2.2% of his total audience. And, like we were discussing, there was probably a higher percentage than that of total downtime due to Hurricane Sandy yet.
