I highly do not like that Billboard is recognizing that Craig Wayne Boyd's debut song and I guess to be single is being named the 2nd song to debut at #1 on HOT COUNTRY SONGS when it's not even a single at radio and that he is the second artist to do this behind Garth's 2007 debut at #1 for "More Than A Memory". Billboard is not being credible these days. They should HAVE never changed up their methodology for Hot Country Songs and making it the main chart. Half of the time now in their weekly updates, lot of the information about songs and the chart history of that artist just don't fit the description. Very disappointed right now with Billboard and do not like that Craig is being declared the second artist to be next to Garth for having a song debut at #1.

Fresh off of being crowned the winner of ‘The Voice,’ Craig Wayne Boyd has song at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs Chart.
Boyd first hit the public with ‘My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face‘ when he performed it live on the show’s Dec. 16 episode. He is only the second artist to launch at No. 1 since the chart began in 1958, following Garth Brooks‘ history-making ‘More Than a Memory’ from Sept. 2007.

Craig Wayne Boyd, the seventh-season winner of NBC's The Voice, rockets onto Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart at No. 1 with his coronation single "My Baby's Got a Smile on Her Face."

Boyd becomes just the second artist to launch at No. 1 since Hot Country Songs began as a multi-metric chart in October 1958. Garth Brooks is the only other act to bow atop the chart, having made history when "More Than a Memory" blew in at the summit on Sept. 15, 2007 (when the list was based solely on radio airplay).

Well that is complete BS! Billboard has lost ALL credibility! A song not even on radio given the same record as a song radio itself took to #1 years ago. I bet Garth is furious!

I've never put much weight in the HCS chart (especially after Jason Aldean's promo singles raced up like they were country music gold) but this should show us all that something is wrong. Genre-bending sales numbers should not be an indication of genre-specific success! I've said this before (and received crap for it) but to me, it is 100% true. I'm betting a lot of non-country fans purchased that song (obviously) and while it is still a country song from a country artist, it really is not indicative of proportional success among other country songs living a country-only environment.

It's always like this for the first (and sometimes second) chart of January, because everybody gains back the airplay lost during Christmas week...and thus almost everybody (even some of the droppers) have bullets for the first full week of post-Christmas airplay.
