You guys have me worried, now. I was really looking forward to a midweek update from Billboard, but if it is going to be a hybrid chart that includes digital sales, that doesn't interest me at all. Eventually, it could just turn into the Taylor Swift chart. Is it possible they will have two Thursday charts...one simply giving us a midweek update of the regular chart and another hybrid that includes sales?

Is it possible they will have two Thursday charts...one simply giving us a midweek update of the regular chart and another hybrid that includes sales? This is from the Billboard Country Update: HOUSEKEEPING: As noted in the Oct. 1 Billboard Country Update, we’re launching a new midweek BCU email product later this week that will include revised Hot Country Songs rankings, fresh retail charts, comprehensive editorial analysis of all weekly country radio and retail charts, alongside other exclusive content for our readers. In preparation for the introduction of our new product—delivered to our BCU newsletter subscribers every Thursday morning starting Oct. 11—the title of our Nielsen BDS-driven country audience chart changes slightly to Billboard Country Airplay this week. There are no methodology or panel changes associated with the chart’s name change, and it will remain the centerpiece chart in the Monday edition of BCU. We’ll introduce the new midweek BCU with a complete description of its contents and other related changes, and welcome your feedback regarding this exciting new product.

I couldn't follow the English. Is "it" of "it will remain the centerpiece chart" the "Nielsen BDS-driven country audience chart"? What is the name of the chart that will be officially recognized when noting the #1 Billboard Country song?

The Hot Country Songs chart is becoming the Billboard Country Airplay chart, and that will be the main chart.

This sentence "There are no methodology or panel changes associated with the chart’s name change, and it will remain the centerpiece chart in the Monday edition of BCU." reads odd to me. With no methodology or panel changes, the computations are the same? ???

^That part only references what we already see on Monday evenings. The Monday chart won't change at all...all that they've done is change its name, from Hot Country Songs to Country Airplay. If you open up the BCU from Monday, it was already named Country Airplay.
That could be another clue, that whatever they throw at us tomorrow isn't exclusively airplay-based.

What a useless chart. Taylor has the Top 2 songs and three in the Top 10. So disappointed not to get a midweek update of the Airplay chart. That would have been worthwhile.

Ugh. 6 million gap between #8 and #9. It's gonna take FOREVER for anyone to drop out of the Top 10 now.

You could look at it that way, but I also look at it that if you have so many songs all bunched up in the top 8, there's gonna be one big house-cleaning week, where some of them drop. And I think we're gonna see Jason and Dustin each only get 1 more week in the top 10. Easton could drop soon as well. Plus, I think radio is really welcoming to both "Beer Money" and "Cruise" right now, as evidenced by FGL being the Greatest Gainer, and both songs having bullets well over 400 on Billboard (and Kip is over 500 on Mediabase).

Plus you have country powerhouses which are essentially ignoring the natioanl charts and playing what's best for THEIR listeners, with KEEY being the most explicit and high-profile example as PD Gregg Swedberg promised several months ago in his much-discussed blistering condemnation of Nashville's artists and labels.
That certainly explains why Greg Bates, Kip Moore, Florida-Georgia Line, & Randy Houser are all in his top ten, and Thomas Rhett's tune, which fell out of the top ten this week.

^Should be out soon. I'm a bit surprised it's this late. But there should be one...maybe the storm (Sandy) is affecting it?

Eh, it probably depends on where Tom Roland (the editor) is. I think he's on Twitter. Country Aircheck is kinda late too. Luckily for me, it's only 7:19 here :)

I did quick search on facebook. i think he lives in Nashville. with all the craziness going on with awards shows, he might be at one tonight. he might have been busy with interviews today. i am so used to my update!

^It will probably still come...it might just be delayed a bit. They've been late like this before. It could very well still come tonight.

Eh, starting to think it won't come out tonight. It's after midnight on the East Coast. I don't know where it's published from but I bet it matters where Tom Roland is, and it could be he's on the east coast or maybe just got delayed traveling somewhere because of the storm. Or maybe it's not storm-related, but I bet it's not a coincedence.
Still only 9 pm where I am, but it's a lot later out east so I doubt it'll come out. I'll still be up for a while, though..

I suspect they're trying to fit one more last-minute Taylor story in somehow.

Maybe they will combine the Monday and Thursday update into one big issue for this week.
