Could someone tell me the difference in the R&R year end charts and the ones on popradio20.com? For instance R&R has "Islands In The Stream" as the #1 song of 1983 while popradio20 has "Dixieland Delight" as the #1 song of 1983. Actually all the 80's year end charts differ from R&R's on American Radio History's site.

Interesting how there's an ad for Taylor Swift's "Lover" for Song of the Year at the Grammys in the most recent Country Aircheck. I guess she's counting on her country base but then again there's also "Bring My Flowers Now" so...

Really cool to look at this list! It seems as though it is slanted a little bit more towards the beginning of the decade but that makes sense if they judge most plays. Older songs have more of a chance to be played more throughout the years.

Billboard needs to release their decade end Airplay chart. I’m curious to see who they have at #1. If they don’t release one I’ll be releasing mine sometime at the beginning of the year. Hopefully mid to late January. I’ll be using Joel Whitburn’s method to chart the songs.

The Country Airplay chart wasn't around til October 2012 (when they made the change to the mongrel chart) as the radio airplay chart was labelled the Billboard Hot Country Songs until then. Since it came out in 2012 it hasn't been around long enough to have a decade end chart.

Since it came out in 2012 it hasn't been around long enough to have a decade end chart. They just directly compared Hot Country Songs pre Oct 2012 (which consisted the airplay component) to Hot Country Songs post Oct 2012 (which consisted the airplay, sales, and later streaming), which is honestly so dumb but that's Billboard for you. Also for the decade-end chart Billboard ranked them based on chart runs instead of actual stats of songs, fyi.

I have to ask what was MB’s #1 song of the 2000’s? I remember BB’s being “Somebody Like You” by Keith Urban but don’t remember the MB #1.

Older songs have more of a chance to be played more throughout the years. I know Keith Urban’s Somebody Like You was Billboard’s #1 song of the 2000’s and it was a hit earlier in that decade so Jake Owen being #1 for the 2010’s on Mediabase makes sense. As far as who had the biggest hit of the decade that easily belongs to Luke Combs’ Beautiful Crazy. Stay tuned as I am working diligently on a decade end chart for Billboard using Joel Whitburn’s method he uses in his books. The only thing I’m waiting on now is for a few songs to either peak or ones that have to leave the top 10 and chart all together.
