I tried this on another forum and it had amazing results.
I love hearing what everyone's first ever favourite song was, as a child you're uninfluenced by trends and tend to like what you do without fear of being uncool! Sadly, loads of my friends don't remember theirs.
What is your first favourite song ever?... You're first favourite song when you were a child.

I can't remember which of the 2 came first so here are both of mine.
Nina Simone 'My Baby Just Cares For me' - Stop Motion Clay Animation music video with cats, what's not to like?
Paul Simon 'You Can Call Me Al' - I used to laugh hysterically at the scene in the music video where Chevy Chase tries to put his glass of water on the side table that doesn't have a table top.

I used to think 'Overprotected' was my favorite song ever. I had a huge crush on a girl from my class back in the day and she did a dance for Overprotected in my school and I was obsessed with the song after that; also, I had a huge crush on Britney at the time, so I ended up listening to that song a lot.

I'm sure it was "Macarena" by Los Del Rio - I remember it being popular before middle America got their hands on it and oversaturated it to the max.

"Found Out About You" by the Gin Blossoms. I remember, for some reason, jumping up and down on the bed while it played on the radio when I was 7. While I'm sure I heard other popular songs from around and before that time, that was the first one I can remember leaving such a definitive impression on me. Otherwise, it would probably be "The Chicken Dance." That the THE JAM in first grade for me.

That's a hard one. One of the first songs I remember singing over and over is "Put Your Hand in the Hand".

Higher Love by Steve Winwood. LOL, I used to sing it all the time when I was very little.

I believe it was either Soul II Soul's "Keep On Movin" or "Back To Life". Those two stuck with me ever since. It's amazing how I could remember that far.

REM's Losing My Religion. Probably what I would pick as my favorite song still if I had to.

It was most probably "My heart will go on". When the music video came on I used to sing along to it. Used to be stuck in my head non-stop too lol. And it wasn't until last year that I saw Titanic!

I grew up around AC radio and my mom's collection (she loved boy bands in her mid-to-late 30's ) First one was probably..."All I Have To Give". Rather embarrassed by that, but what can I do, you know?

"Dreamlover" by Mariah Carey i was only like 4 or 5 at the time but the song's melody and Mariah's vocals would always soothe me and make me happy i used to listen to it before i went to sleep i would pop in the blank cassette and play the recording until i went to sleep

Maybe 'Summer of 69' when I was 4 (in 1988.)
Or 'Joyride' by Roxette. Of course that was much later.

My mom told me my first favorite song was "You Don't Have To Be A Star" by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. However, my first likes that I can remember are Rick James and Hall & Oates songs.

Like ever ever... it was Eternal Flame by The Bangles? I knew all the words when I was little.
I remember being like 5 though and thinking the radio played Electric Youth everyday at 3 o clock and it was just so popular at the time if I turned it on at around 3 it'd be on. First song I remember loving.

Cool thread, Gaz. It's bringing back some memories.
My first favorite song ever? I suppose that would have to be Joey Scarbury's "Theme From The Greatest American Hero (Believe It Or Not)". I was 5 when the song was a hit in 1981. I can't remember anything released earlier than that that I took a liking to. I, suppose, it also helped that I loved the TV show, too.
My sister and I had a record player in our play room (yes, we played records in those days) with a small collection of 45 RPM singles. If we liked a song, Mom would often buy us the single. "Believe It Or Not" was one of the singles I had. Others I recall from the collection:
Michael Jackson - Beat It Air Supply - Making Love Out Of Nothing At All Irene Cara - Flashdance...What A Feeling Styx - Mr. Roboto Taco - Puttin' On The Ritz Thompson Twins - Hold Me Now Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart "Weird Al" Yankovic - Eat It
Ahh...the memories.
