I know this is going to be a disaster, just from the name alone but I have to say I'm completely intrigued to see what Courtney Love can do now. It's like a train wreck you can't take your eyes away from.

She sucks as a person, but her music is incredible. Celebrity Skin was one of the best records of the 90's, and Malibu is one of my favorite songs of that decade.

I'll admit, although I haven't listened to that album in probably a decade, I do remember it being very good. As as person, she's beyond fucked up, but musically I have to admit she has or maybe had incredible talent. Back then, since I was young and unaware of what was probably going on with her personally, it didn't affect how I viewed her, but now I even if this new material could blow me away, I'm afraid what I know about her now may ruin it for me.

So I just heard this song premiered on the radio...
Eh.
It's very forgettable. I don't even remember it 5 minutes later.
Nobody is seriously considering this to be "Hole," just as "The Smashing Pumpkins" is really just "Billy Corgan" now, but nevertheless, this kinda waters down Hole's legacy.

Live Through This is definitely my favorite from them and one of my very favorite '90's alt-rock albums. Celebrity Skin was very strong as well.
I agree that this seems like a similar situation to recent Pumpkins' album. At least this will get Courtney off her Twitter account for a while...hopefully.

I'm sure in the end, I'll hear this song a couple times and move on anyways. |

Now that I've heard it, what I will say on first listen is....
Even though its semi-generic it actually sounds like something I would listen to a few times more than I thought I would at first hearing about the song. It is probably the best sound for a song she could have with a revamped band to try and have any success again. Consider it sounds like it could be right off a mid 90's album.
For some reason though I hear this song and immediately I miss Veruca Salt....digging out Volcano Girls now....

Veruca Salt had some good stuff back in the 90s. I saw them once at one of the Buzz Bake Sales. I believe it was 2000, where they opened up the show for the day. I remember the singer was cursing out the sound techs in the middle of the song because the instruments were so loud that almost nobody could hear her singing and people were booing them. Funny stuff that sucked for them.

I will go out on the limb now and say...I actually really like this song. It is what Hole sounds like to me in my head. It's very 90's and doesn't sound updated at all.....and in the end, I'm totally okay with that. I don't need everything to change and be "relevant" to what everybody else is trying to do. I like that it just sounds like a Hole song with Courtney singing away....pissed off as ever.
