Why isn't "Put It In A Love Song" taking off? I've heard it a few times on different radio stations... Because it's horrible.

The song isn't bad at all... I like it. But opinions aside - is this song tanking or has it not officially been sent for adds yet?

Wow Kristine W scores her zillionth No 1 Club song... good for her! I also think that's pretty cool. It's her 15th #1 out of 16 chart hits in all. One of her songs 'only' peaked at #2 lol

Even if "Put it in a Love Song" were horrible... so? Like we haven't seen tracks perceived by some as horrible near or at the top of the charts. Yah. :)
Kristine W is the epitome of a strictly dance act, so she should be ruling the dance charts. She's only had one Hot 100 or Bubbling Under entry ("One More Try"). The dance chart is the last of the charts to be compiled in the old way- 100+ DJs rank tracks each week and then submit the list to Billboard. Too bad there's no measuring system (like BDS) to track club play.

Some Nielsen BDS Charts published here: www.radio-info.com/formatsUnfortunatly it misses all the spanish airplay charts and some others. It also goes to show how big the difference sometimes is between mediabase numbers and BDS ones, especially in the country charts where we can see Lady A. "Need You Now" has big recurent airplay, almost 20 million, which has me believe that radio country really wants to help the record in the overall chart as they usually drop records pretty fast, unless in achieve some kind of success on other formarts.

When was the last time an artist, who was a lead singer on a track , had 2 songs in the top 3 of the top 40 charts? I'm asking this coz I'm surprised to see Lady Gaga achieving it this week.

Are you sure, I don't remember the BEP doing so, well we would have to get access to old charts to know, but on mediabase they didn't do it if I remember correctly.

Thanks a lot, they only talk about females artist, but at least we know now that she isn't the first female to do it. I'd just like to know who among groups and males achieved it too, and also learn when was the last time an act actualy achieved this accomplishement, if it was indeed Ashanti or no. Usher is the first one to come to my mind and I guess Mariah must have been close to this achievment with "We Belong together" and "Shake it off" even if we know she didn't do it thanks to the article.

As much as I love "Need you Now", I don't think it's going to have a chance to hit #1. If it doesn't do it this week, it's not going to do it next week. As usual, (the songs I love, ie Bad Romance, Hey Soul Sister, etc), the sales/airplay don't match up. The sales peaked (the single is dropping on itunes) - however the airplay is still reaching its peak. BEP's have the edge in sales and their airplay will catch up.
I feel the same way for Train. The song has been selling amazingly well but radio is really REALLY slow at picking this up. Even though I've heard it numerously on my local radio stations - the stats that Mediabase/bks posts prove otherwise. It is really crawling slowly... by the time if and when it does pick up steam on airplay format, the sales will have peaked and it will also miss its chance.
I get really annoyed when airplay doesn't match sales... look at singles like "Rude Boy". It's barely a few weeks old and the song is flying up in airplay while the sales are strong. Why can't this be the same case for every song that sells strongly?? I have no idea why program directors don't study single sales and deduce that that might be what the public wants to hear. If that were the case, "Hey Soul Sister" would be gaining a lot more than it is. "Bad Romance" was also another victim... strong sales at first (much better than "Tik Tok") but radio was slow on adding it. By the time it was a monster at radio, it was many weeks later after sales had peaked.
And no, I'm not a Rihanna hater, I'm just using her single as a prime example.

But on iTunes, Need You Now is ABOVE the Black Eyed Peas/Imma Be... So if their airplay is above (which it is), and they can stay abouve the BEP's for most of this week on iTunes, does that not mean they have a very good shot at getting Billboard #1 next week?

Last time I looked NYN fell to #6 behind BEP... and I think the airplay chart bks posts (the one that Billboard uses), the airplay is tighter between the two singles. But regardless, unless Lady A perform the single on American Idol or at an awards show over the next few weeks, I think the sales have peaked.

Just did a little checking, and yes, there is a reason why they gained... 1. The did an interview and performance on the Today Show 2. The Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were revelaed yesterday and Lady A got the most (7) nominations!
