"Stolen Dance", "Riptide", "Dangerouse"(good song) and now "Take Me To Church". These songs have overstyed thier welcome and are now causing better songs to die off prematurely.

That's interesting about the recurrents data, I just found all this out early this month, after "Fools Gold" went recurrent. I noticed many songs seemed to drop off after 20 weeks in the newer charts, yet in the 1990s/early 2000s, I believe the standard time when a track became recurrent was after 26 weeks, and I'm basing that off some chart data from a 1994 listing. I would be even more curious to know if anyone knows what the recurrent time was for a track in the 1980s on the Mainstream Rock chart because, before 1991 and the advent of digital radio monitoring, tracks had much shorter chart runs. I also agree with those four Alternative tracks becoming outlasted, I know they were all big hits (and the second and last continue to make huge waves at Pop radio), but they are blocking other promising new songs from charting and pushing out many other songs before their time.

Hey guys, the Mainstream Rock listing can also be found earlier at the same site, I updated both my Mainstream and Alternative playlists at midnight when the new charts were put up at that time, here is the link:

I do also agree that many songs are staying far too long on Alternative, while many are dying short deaths on Mainstream Rock (which itself seemed a little static just a month ago). Royal Blood and Asking Alexandria both dropped off after 28 weeks, which may seem long, but which pales in comparison to the lengthy stays of lesser Alternative acts such as (shudder) Vance Joy and Milky Chance. Man, it seems these days veteran acts such as Incubus and The Offspring are even finding it hard to move up Alternative quickly due to the airplay of these current artists (admittedly, probably a lot of their play is linked to their continued success at Top 40 radio as well). Yet, these same two bands have been making impressive strides on Mainstream Rock, which was not even previously their primary domain! The logic of the Alternative chart, to me, is just pretty loopy now.
