I feel that this single is still undeserving of its success. Russian Roulette, which was a much better song and showcased a mature direction, was ignored, while this song that sounds like a remix desperately trying to repeat Umbrella's success is spending multiple weeks at #1... How is it desperately trying to repeat anything? A song doesnt make its own decisions on how it wants to perform.

And, at least for me, as a song 'Rude Boy' isn't that similar to 'Umbrella'.

It's just that Russian Roulette was so much more groundbreaking, while this song seems more like a regression.

Exactly! I would have preferred a single more like "Disturbia."

Well, I think the whole Rated R album was a huge groundbreak for Rihanna. 'Rude Boy' might be one of the most pop friendly songs there, but that doesn't make it any worse.
However, her next single might be less pop friendly, so we will see how that one fares. I think it will be either 'Photographs' or 'Fire Bomb', and both are very different for Rihanna. Some people are talking about 'Rockstar 101' but I don't see how they could release that song...

it took me a while to realize that the "Pulse Oldies Board" and the "Billboard Hot 100 - 4/10/ '1965' " titles are April Fools Jokes lol... or at least i hope :)

I wonder what's the record for having the most songs in the top 100 at the same time? I think that The Beatles had 14 songs in the Hot 100 at the same time back in 1964 and that they had all the Top 5 songs at about that time.

More recently I believe Miley Cyrus, David Cook, and possibly Taylor Swift (?) had about 7+ songs in the Hot 100 at once (I forget if it was Miley or David that had 11 in one week?). T-Pain, Lil Wayne, and possibly Kanye West may have had similar weeks.
Regarding Rude Boy's success -- I think that radio has been hungry to find the "big hit" from this album, and Rude Boy is the first song they've released that is totally pop-radio-ready, so stations have jumped on it. I will say when I first got the album I listened through and "Rude Boy" was the only song I really felt drawn to listen to again. That said it still doesn't feel in the same category as some of her past hits, but I still like it personally.
I'm also really surprised La Roux is doing so well. I would've never thought that song could cross over (she is amazing live, btw).
Is Alejandro on bubbling under this week?

Train 3. Adam Lambert 20. Miley 25.
Rude Boy officially hit no. 1 in radio in just 7 weeks. No. 2 in digital and both Break Your Heart/Nothin' on You had declines. She wishes to keep dominating.

Yay for "When I Look at You."
Wait- "Russian Roulette" "groundbreaking"? It may not have been Rihanna's "usual" sound, but it's not a "groundbreaking" piece of music. But, it's good that she mixed things up a little with this latest album.
"I Gotta Feeling" is up to how many weeks now?

I'm happy for La Roux! I wonder how much higher she'll go? Her sales aren't exploding on itunes and she still has miniscule airplay... how is she climbing in small spurts? I have yet to even hear this on radio so I'm kinda wondering how she's getting any exposure/word of mouth?

Am I blind, but when did Jay Sean's "Do You Remember?" fall off the chart? I just realized it's gone, yet "Down" is still around.
