Amerie is on another level but unfortunately most people won't get it.

Amerie was never a "run-of-the-mill" R&B chick, she has a vision of her own and doesn't only want to please the mass, she deserves so much more than what she's got.
But yeah, she needs to be marketed to a different crowd.

Also, Ameriie needs to team up with Derek Miller, that would sound SICK.

This album sounds amazing!! I thought IL&W had too many themes about love and relationships and I've always sensed that Ameriie had more to offer than that. Hopefully the ball will get rolling soon with a single and release date.

I'm still excited regardless, the more info that comes out about this era the more intrigued I am.

She definitely sounds like she's on some batshit crazy crackhead shit especially with quotes like the one below. But I'll keep my mind open. “There’s a song about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah with extraterrestrials destroying them with nuclear weapons,” explained the Georgetown grad of “Sodom & G.” “I don’t feel like that’s really been done.”

I was surprised a major label was going to put out an album like the one she's been working on anyway, especially when she hasn't had a hit in several years.

She's now signed to an independent label according to an interview w/ TGJ. This is the best move for her.

Good for her, now she can focus on putting out good music, instead of numbers.

Sounds like good news. Hopefully she can be like a Robyn-type artist.

Can anyone send me the snippets that leaked a while back? I haven't been able to find them and that one YouTube link has been taken down.

inPHOTOS: Ameriie and Hubby Party in VegasFresh of their honeymoon Anguilla in the British West Indies, newly weds Ameriie and husband Lenny Nicholson kept the celebration going Saturday night (July 10) at LAX Nightclub in Las Vegas on Saturday. According to Haute Living, before Ameriie jumped into her hosting mode, the couple cozied up in VIP. She then headed to the DJ booth to experiment on her mixing skills before performing “Gotta Work” and her chart-topping single “1 Thing.”

PHOTOS: Ameriie Attends Celebrity Poker TournamentAugust 20, 2011 A happily married-looking Ameriie strolled the red carpet during the recent Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment’s Celebrity Poker Tournament in Hollywood, California. She looked lovely in the girl next door look, including fatigue pants and leopard print shoes.

What in the hell of bad 90s outfits is girl wearing? She looks like a disaster. Or in goddamn desperate need of a stylist.

^No it wasn't. I mean, ANY artist needs huge hits to make a huge impact but realistically that was probably not in the cards for her. Other than her first album she never fit perfectly with whatever was on urban at the moment. The major labels she was signed to didn't know what to do with that and didn't promote her much, so I see nothing to be gained from her signing with yet another one unless by some miracle they're going to put a huge amount of investment into making her "happen." If anything being on a major just held her back somewhat because the safest way for major labels to maximize sales is to sign artists who can and will conform to current trends....if Amerie is not going to do that she shouldn't waste her time with a label that will try to meddle with the creative process for the sake of commercial viability. There were always signs that she preferred to be at least a little experimental and now that there is nothing holding her back from doing so, there is no telling what kind of crazy we're about to get from her. I mean that in a good way, I like crazy But crazy isn't normally a big seller.

She'll need some huge hits in order to make a major impact. Oh please, if "making hits" is Amerie's main goal, she would have recorded generic-radio-friendly material long time ago. Girl just does not want to do that. She knows, we know, that there really isn't that big of a chance for her to become a mainstream success, she is just not that cup of tea. Signing with an indie label and doing what she wants to do is the right way to put her talent to use.

I think she has recorded plenty of "generic radio friendly material" in her career. The main problem is that, she has never really stood out, be it musically or personally. She clearly has ambitions that go far beyond the "generic radio friendly material" so rather than continuing to release songs that sound like everything else and not getting noticed for them, she might as well go independent and do what she wants to do. The other way she's sacrificing her artistic freedom AND most likely not succeeding commercially.
