I can't believe there isn'ta thread here about this. Madonna's history at the Rhythmic format is OK, considering she's a non-urban act. When it was Rhythm-Crossover, she fared better, but in years since, the format has started resmebling Urban more and more. Since 1998, these are her peaks at Rhythmic Top 40 (peaks may differ some on R&R's CHR/Rhythmic): Frozen: 15 Ray of Light: 32 Music: 9 Don't Tell Me: 21 Die Another Day: 22 In recent times, a non-urban track that managed to fare decently at rhythmic was Britney Spears' Toxic. Any others? I think Hung Up can get some rhythmic support- maybe a similar performance to Die Another Day.

I'm assuming it will chart since Dance stations are Rhythmic?

KNGY Energy 92.7 is listed under Rhythmic Hit. They are apparently the second biggest dance station in the U.S.

Rumor has it that some Reggaeton mixes may be done for the song. And if they are approved, they may be released. L.E.X. might be doing them.

When I checked around 4:30 PM when Energy 92.7 was playing it, the numbers still appeared to be the same as they are now on Mediabase.

The Mediabase totals are only updated once a day. The numbers are fine-tuned throughout the day, but always for the day before.
The last I heard, dance stations count towards an expanded rhythmic panel - but not for the actual rhythmic chart published in Radio & Records magazine (which uses a more narrow panel). That means that 54 out of the 56 rhythmic spins "Hung Up" had received as of yesterday will not count towards the rhythmic chart, because they occurred on dance stations.

In the end, the important one is BDS' Rhythmic Top 40. :) Anyone have an updated list of the stations that Billboard uses? The current count is at 66.
I remember Beautiful Stranger peaking around 43 on R&R's rhythmic chart (and it didn't crack Billboard's rhythmic chart).

Well, there's no question this will be getting major airplay on KTU, so that should help the song's standing a lot.

Yeah, only thing is that KTU doesn't play songs as much as, say, Z-100 does. The most-played track in the last week was played 32 times (compared to 100+ for the most played at Z). I guess that's good for the listener, though- less repetition.

True, KTU does spend a lot of its airtime playingclassic dance hits, but it has a good chance of getting to the top of the playlist and that's still big exposure in the NY market.

It might get some token adds, but I honestly can't see rhythmic playing it that much. However, it could be one of those few songs they latch onto to seperate themselves from urban (Frankie J, Natalie, Baby Bash, most BEP songs, etc...) I'd love it if it was a freak hit, but I doubt it.

An important thing to note is that the Rhythmic of 2005 is a lot more urban than the Rhythmic of 2000 when Music charted or even the Rhythmic of 2002 when Die Anothe Day charted, so Hung Up basically has no chance expect the dance ones

"Toxic"- that was just last year, and it peaked at 16 at Rhythmic Top 40. It must have gotten spins at non-dance-leaning rhythmic stations. I surely don't expect Hung Up to do as well as Music at rhythmic radio. :)
I peeked at some of the rhythmic playlists, and there are some that are predominantly urban, but that also have a song like Pussycat Dolls' Stickwitchu on there. It's cool for them to have a non-urban track in there every now and then.

A positive sign for rhythmic is that Chicago's 96.3 looks to be urban-oriented, yet has played the track 9 times thus far. Hope more non-dance-leaning rhythmic stations expand their horizons. :)

They have that "No-Repeat Workday" thing where for several hours a day, they don't repeat any song.

The rhythmic audience total is up to 7m+, so that's cool.
I guess Madonna is becoming the exception at KTU, with 47 spins in the past week- easily the most-played in that time frame, with nearly 5 million audience from the station. :) At least 1 NYC station is giving it love!

It's so weird that the Rhythmic chart charts Madonna. I know that gets airplay from Dance stations which are Rhythmic, but it's just so out of place.
She's up to #50!

Thing is, from just two stations (KTU and Chicago's 96.3- which isn't a dance-leaning station), she has almost 7.5 millioin Mediabase impressions. The few other rhythmic staitons listed don't even have audience totals (the non-satellite ones).
For Billboard, KTU is the only station from the dance-radio-chart panel that also contributes to the rhtyhmic top 40 chart.

Is KTU the only dance station with big audience impressions or does it play alot of urban songs? I don't get why only one dance station would be on the Rhythmic Top 40, let alone any.
