That's right
Would likely be enough to answer the above question though

Sorry, but Taylor made it over Carrie? Billboard's off of its rocker.

Longer running albums and more singles - makes sense to me

It's tough for newer names to appear on a list like this because country singers have a much longer shelf life than most other genres. Just how successful Carrie and Taylor are but they didn't make this list show just how successful the names on this list really are. You mean "Just how successful Carrie and Taylor are but they didn't make this list show just how successful the names on this list really were." I know Carrie's still relatively new, but she's on her... 14th (?) country number 1 now? It still seems odd.

See my previous post - longevity on the albums chart is a factor too

Wasn't Some Hearts in the top 10 for 80 weeks or something like that?

Try a side by side comparison of Taylor Swift's country singles and albums vs Carrie Underwood's country singles and albums
Taylor Swift's albums certainly have ran longer. Longevity is huge on these sort of lists
It is likely that if this list were expanded to 30 or 35, Carrie Underwood would be there

Isn't Taylor's debut album still on the charts? It has had crazy longevity. Then Fearless was a huge smash and Speak Now still sold more than Play On.

Not to mention, Fearless appeared on the Year-End Top 10 in two consecutive years. 2008 saw both of her albums in the top 10. There's no doubt she's acquired a better chart run than Carrie.

Some Hearts was the best-selling Country album of 2006 and 2007, according to the Billboard year-end lists. Plus, how many #1s does Taylor have compared to Carrie, who not only has a Hot 100 #1 (unlike Taylor), but has 13 #1s, and a 14th single that went #2. [insert "it still seems odd" quote from chris]

The follow-up albums from Carrie did not stick around nearly as long as Some Hearts did. Taylor has not left the top 200 since she debuted.
"You Belong With Me" was the #1 radio single of 2009. That trumps a single that just spent a couple of weeks in the top 10.
