It's a shame that interscope is so cheep about certifications. MMLP should be Certified Diamond but Interscope is ****ing cheep.

I'm Glad to See The Eminem Show less than 150 K to 10,000,000 which would be Diamond but even when that happens Interscope wont get it certified.

TES is already eligible for 10x Platinum. There is now way an album released years ago and that has scanned 9.85 million hasn't done at least 150,000 at record clubs. Record clubs were still doing okay when TES was released.

Linkin Park are also extremely under-certified.

Collision Course with Jay-Z is Platinum yet around August of last year it was reported as being at 1.9 million scanned in a Billboard.com column.

Minutes to Midnight is 2x Platinum yet will cross 3 million scanned next week and Meteora is 4x Platinum yet it is quickly closing in on 5.8 million scanned.

What label are they on? I think it all depends on the label. Some labels just don't care and heck maybe the artists don't care either after the first few.

The other day I read about how Danny Carey from Tool put all of Tool's certification plaques on the wall in the loft of the studio for there first two albums "Undertow" and "Aenima" back when they originally got those.

For the last couple "Lateralus" and "10,000 Days" he doesnt even know where those plaques are and he doesnt even care. So i guess maybe early in an artists career they may care about those things but after they have a sustained career they don't care? Idk.

Supposedly the next album will be out later this year. Recently they put out a so-called "massively multiplayer online video game" for the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad called 8-Bit Rebellion!. It's based on them and their music. A song called "Blackbirds" is unlocked when the game is completed and supposedly it will be released as a single soon.

The last Catalog chart we received was early December. #200 sold 2,500 units which of course was helped by Christmas.

Does anyone know why Interscope treats Eminem so poorly? As huge as Lady Gaga is for them right now, Eminem has been a star for far longer and still sells millions with each album. Considering how bad sales are, you'd think the labels will do all they can to keep their artists on their books. I can see Eminem leaving Interscope and carrying on his own like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. As he is a bigger name then both of them, he could do even better than them and he will get ALL of the money. Interscope are such idiots.

As for Linkin Park getting their certs updated, Warner are usually fairly good with this so hopefully it won't be too long before they make these updates. I certainly have far more confidence in them doing this than Interscope.

LOL, since when? They're good with initial certifications but are usually abysmal at updating albums with follow-up certifications.

Besides the Linkin Park certifications that need updated, just look at Madonna, by far the highest selling act in WB's history yet under-certified.

The Immaculate Collection is the highest selling GH ever by a female act and has scanned (let alone record club sales) well over 1 million since it's last certification, yet hasn't been re-certified in about 9 years. They've never even updated the certification for "Like A Virgin" either, it was certified Gold pre-1989 when that meant 1 million so it is eligible for Platinum, and there has always been speculation that the single shipped 2 million and thus would be eligible for 2x Platinum. She has a laundry list of other certifications that need updating as well.

I was unaware of the Madonna certs. To be honest, I'm going by Warner UK who often update certs for older albums. But even so, I suspect Warner are still better at sorting their catalog out with the RIAA than Interscope are.

$350 per cert if the label is a member or whatever of the RIAA, $450 if the label is not.

But... how can he have 9 #1s and no album where a person can find them all? "Confessions" is not a greatest hits album at all. Songs that made BB's all time list- U Got It Bad and You Make Me Wanna aren't on Confessions, as well as several other R&B toppers.

But if he released one now, he probably wouldn't even manage to outsell Keeps Gettin Better. SMH. :(

Maybe he should release one for outside the US. Enrique Iglesias' GH sold like 400k in the UK, lol.

Michael Jackson is another example where the studio albums still sold well, even after compilations were released- but, an exception more than the rule.

Shania Twain's Greatest Hits looks like it will pass the 4m mark next week. Nice showing.

Thanks for posting the catalog numbers. I remember when the bottom of the chart was seeing 1,600-1,700, and that was a decline- as with overall albums, the bottom threshold is getting lower.
