Considering she didnt have a blow up smash like the last few albums, i think her album is doing well.

Thanks, bks. Katy Perry soars past Taylor Swift's "Today Was a Fairytale" in terms of sales. And the airplay is great- it's even doing well at Rhythmic Top 40- is is Snoop Dogg's appearance, or would the track be doing that well at that format regardless?

Hasn't Rhythmic been moving back in a more pop direction the past few years anyway?
I think the combination of R&B-leaning artists going dancier (Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Timbaland) with the rise in dance-pop (Britney's Circus album, Lady Gag) has made the format more dynamic than the old "near-carbon-copy-of-Urban" it was for awhile.

Wow, I didn't expect her to have such a good increase in sales, considering the video wasn't out! Way to go, Katy!

Not sure where Gaga's singles have peaked on Rhythmic Top 40, but Perry is headed to top 10 (if not there already). I don't think any of Spears' Circus singles cracked the top 20 at the format.
Will "I Gotta Feeling" FINALLY drop off the Hot 100 this week? I continue to be amazed by that track's longevity- never thought it would reach a full year on the chart.

And her album still doesn't sell. 26 KEYS*ALICIA ELEMENT OF FREEDOM 12,676 12,146 +4% 1,304,951 (1xp) These are excellent sales. I don't think so. With a hit on 3 formats she should have bigger increases IMO.

She will soon be one of the best selling female country singers ever and the best selling idol too. That's awesome.

Pleh, Run This Town is a Jay-Z single. And if we're talking about someone doing lead vocals for a song, then a certain someone has 11 multi-platinum downloads.

(though "California Gurls" may ultimately eclipse both) Here I hear "Hot N Cold" all the time as a recurrent, but seldom "I Kissed a Girl", in spite of the fact the latter peaked higher in most countries. 'I Kissed A Girl' was more of a novelty track than anything. I barely hear it anymore. 'Hot N Cold' sounds much more suitable for recurrent airplay.

Bits about Glee, from BB's Chart Beat: "Among all artists, the "Glee" cast has logged the ninth-most Hot 100 titles. Fourteen "Glee" tracks have reached the Hot 100's top 40, the most among all artists since the cast first arrived on June 6, 2009. Taylor Swift is next with 11 top 40 hits in that span. On Digital Songs, the ensemble's 66 appearances through last week are the most since the chart began contributing to the Hot 100 in 2005. By next year's prom (with generous budgets for show choir and Cheerios, McKinley High couldn't afford one this year?), the cast could pass Presley's 108 entries for most among all acts in the chart's archives."

Urban and Urban Ac comes as 1 No. They both are counted together to compile the R&B chart, but they are 2 different formats.

Since the show is slated for at least three seasons (probably even longer) it is a given that Glee will blow by the record for most chart entries. A phenomenon made possible by every single being available all at the same time rather than 1 at a time, like it was in Elvis' day. Now where the Glee songs are weak is producing actual hits. How many spent more than 1 week in the top 40? How many spent more than 2 weeks on the Hot 100? Answer: not many now. It would take future radio support to bring that up but I don't see that happening.
