Snoop Dogg on an Adult Contemporary station? Who would have thunk it? haha. They probably edit out the Snoop part though. Yeah on my Hot AC station they edit Snoop out so it's just instrumental. This is the version they play: I actually like both :) |

I just hope "Love The Way You Lie" doesnt only get as high as #2 like "Without Me" and "Smack That" did. Eminem deserves 2 #1 hits from the same album.

Digital sales may have reached their peak- the year-to-year increase is tiny. But maybe "I Gotta Feeling" will be the one to cross 10 million. :)
I gather that for the above comparison in Dance/Club Play, they started with Madge's "Everybody," which reached the dance chart almost a year before she had her first Hot 100 entry with "Holiday."

The peak was inevitable.
CDs saw it, digital is seeing it now.
CDs jumped in the 80s and 90s when the format was new and everyone converted all their cassettes and LPs over to CD (this of course came to an eventual end)
The rapid rise of digital may have been due to the downloading of those long-lost songs that had been previously hard to find.
The current hits still see big numbers but the overall is in decline (as people may have found all thier long-lost songs by now)

When I first got into iTunes, I went back and bought a lot of old songs, and obviously I don't do that anymore, and just buy new songs or albums as they come out. |

They should lower the price of individual songs to 99 cents, 1.29 is much less attractive to a buyer, and I think sales would see an increase again once people noticed they were getting a discount from the previous price

If they kept the price it's because it probably turned out to be more profetable for them. There's no point in losing money just in order to sell a few more units.

I worked at Camelot music when I was like 16 in 1995. |

The point of this post is not to argue how much a single cost in the 90s (I stated "up to 4 dollars" anyway)
Discarding the 99 cent figure that you posted, everything you listed is higher than 1.29
