Stevie Nicks On 'In Your Dreams' Film, Christine McVie's Fleetwood Mac Return?"The year of making ('In Your Dreams') was the best year of my life," says rock legend Stevie Nicks in her documentary of the same name. The film, which was released to home video on Dec. 3, captures the writing and recording of Nicks' most recent studio album. Released in 2011, the set was co-produced by Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics fame), and was her first solo studio effort since 2001's "Trouble In Shangri-La." Billboard sat down with Nicks at her home in Los Angeles -- the same house where much of "In Your Dreams" was recorded -- to talk about the new DVD and more. "It was just the year that I was the most happy," says Nicks of recording "Dreams." "Every day I woke up and went 'I can't wait to get up, jump in the bathtub, put on a little make-up and run downstairs and greet Dave at the door.'" Stewart's attitude towards recording helped push Nicks towards releasing an album -- something she had been reluctant to do for a long while. "Dave would just go, 'It's just one more great adventure, darling. And if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Who cares?'" "Before I started this record, I wasn't gonna make another record. Because I was really so bummed out by people trying to explain to me why the music business wasn't the same (as it used to be)." Used to be: As in, when album sales were still robust and artists didn't have to worry about their music being freely shared on the Internet. Stewart convinced Nicks to take a different view on the business. "'It doesn't matter Stevie!'" she says he said to her. "'We're in our 60s. If this whole record goes to hell, it doesn't matter! We're OK! We're financially stable. We'll be just fine. So we can do anything we want. We can try anything we want.'" The spark that set the entire album in motion was Nicks' viewing of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." She was so moved by the film, she was inspired to write the song "Moonlight" (which appears on "In Your Dreams"). "I said, 'you know what, now I'm gonna have to do a record,' because I can't just put this little song out without a record to back it up. So even if it doesn't sell any records, I'm ready to make a record now." And with that, she set out to make "In Your Dreams" into a reality. Fast-forward a few years later to 2013, and Nicks was back on the road with her old band, Fleetwood Mac, for an international tour. Fans were no doubt jazzed by a very special guest that joined the group for two shows in September: former band mate Christine McVie. The singer/songwriter left the group in 1998, and hadn't performed with the band since. "I think she's probably been asked 5 million times to come back to the band," Nicks says. "By all of us. By every one one of us. And she has said, in no uncertain terms, 'No. No. Absolutely not. No way.'" So then it may have come as a surprise to many, when McVie told the Guardian in November that she would be "delighted" if the band were to "ask" her to play with them again. "But it hasn't happened, so we'll have to wait and see." But Nicks says, "If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, 'It's your band. I don't really think you have to ask. Because it's your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?'" "This" meaning the "two-hour and 45 minute show" each night, which Nicks describes as a "job of champions" that "is not easy, 'cause we are not young. And we are out there rocking for almost three solid hours." With that said, Nicks says "I don't know what she'll do. Story to come. To be continued." www.billboard.com/articles/news/5819914/stevie-nicks-on-in-your-dreams-film-christine-mcvies-fleetwood-mac-return

I'm glad she's didn't wait a long time to record new material. I didn't like In Your Dreams at all when it was first released, but there are several songs on it that have grown on me a lot since it's release.

www.billboard.com/articles/news/6084948/stevie-nicks-solo-album-24-karat-gold-title-release-detailsStevie Nicks Preps New '24 Karat Gold' AlbumIt's proving to be a very busy year for the legendary Stevie Nicks. Not only is she about to head out on tour with a reunited Fleetwood Mac, but she's also in the midst of finishing up her own new solo album. Tentatively titled "24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault," Nicks' forthcoming collection includes lost and stray tracks that she's written and recorded through the years, but never made it onto an album. The selections for "24 Karat Gold" were all newly recorded, and co-produced by Nicks, Dave Stewart and Waddy Wachtel. Nicks' publicist, Liz Rosenberg, says that Nicks hopes to release the album in October on Reprise/Warner Bros. Records. She recently recorded the "24 Karat" tunes in Nashville, and will continue working on the album in Los Angeles. (The album title presumably refers to Nicks' song "24 Karat Gold," which is widely available on YouTube as a bootleg.) Nicks says that she just recorded "18 tracks in three weeks" for the album -- saying that it's the "fastest I have ever recorded." She made those comments last night during her acceptance speech at the BMI Pop Awards in Los Angeles, where she was honored with the BMI Icon award for her songwriting achievements. Nicks has written or co-written many of her solo hit singles, including "Edge of Seventeen (Just Like the White Winged Dove)" and "Stand Back." As part of the band Fleetwood Mac, Nicks wrote or co-wrote such favorites as "Landslide," "Rhiannon" and the No. 1 the Billboard Hot 100 hit "Dreams." "We went onto YouTube and we found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever ... and we went to Nashville (and recorded them)," Nicks told the Associated Press. "So they're like all starting from like 1969 maybe? I call them my 24 karat gold songs." There's no word on if "24 Karat Gold" will feature any special guests, however, with Nicks having been in a collaborative mood lately, one never knows who might turn up on the set. Recently, Nicks performed with Lady Antebellum on the Academy of Country Music Awards (April 6) and on "CMT Crossroads" (Sept. 13, 2013), as well as with Dave Grohl on the "Sound City" soundtrack (2013). "24 Karat Gold" follows Nicks' last studio effort, 2011's "In Your Dreams," which was also co-produced by Stewart. It debuted and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold 199,000 in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Fleetwood Mac, meanwhile, is also working on new music and will kick off a concert tour starting Sept. 30 in Minneapolis. It will be the band's first trek with singer/songwriter Christine McVie since The Dance Tour in 1997.

Now we know why Stevie had scheduling issue for recording with FM. I'm so glad she's dipping into the archives - there are so many great demos out there that deserve proper interpretation and quality recordings. I've waited for something like this for years. Looking forward to track list.

www.rollingstone.com/music/news/stevie-nicks-details-release-plan-for-new-solo-album-24-karat-gold-20140724Stevie Nicks may have spent much of 2013 touring with Fleetwood Mac and celebrating the 35th anniversary of the group's landmark LP Rumours, but the frontwoman still found time to record a solo LP. 24 Karat Gold — Songs from the Vault will see release on October 7th via Warner Bros, though vinyl lovers will be able to pick up a limited edition double LP a week earlier starting September 29th. The LP follows Nicks' 2011 solo effort, In Your Dreams, and was produced by herself, Dave Stewart and guitarist Waddy Wachtel. Recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles, 24 Karat Gold comprises songs that Nicks wrote primarily between 1969 and 1987, plus two that were penned in 1994 and 1995. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Nicks said she was inspired to reimagine these older tracks after stumbling across a slew of the original bootlegs on YouTube. "[W]e found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever," she said, adding: "I call them my 24 karat gold songs." In a statement, Nicks said: "Each song is a lifetime. Each song has a soul. Each song has a purpose. Each song is a love story. They represent my life behind the scenes, the secrets, the broken hearts, the broken hearted and the survivors. These songs are the memories — the 24 karat gold rings in the blue box. These songs are for you." The 24 Karat artwork will feature never-before-seen Polaroids taken by Nicks throughout her career, while the deluxe photobook CD boasts 48 pages of pictures from her private collection alongside two bonus tracks. Pre-orders for 24 Karat start on August 5th, and that same day, Nicks will begin previewing the album on her official new Instagram account. Along with the release of 24 Karat, Nicks' fall will be dominated by another Fleetwood Mac tour, this one reuniting the group with keyboardist and singer Christine McVie, who left the band in 1998. The On With the Show tour kicks off on Tuesday, September 30th in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center and wraps up 34 shows later on December 20th at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa Bay, Florida.

I'm so impatient to listen to this. I was listening to Talk To Me and I Can't Wait earlier tonight. She's probably my second favorite female artist. I hope a new Fleetwood Mac record will follow soon. <3

It's okay. Her last two lead singles weren't among my favorites on either album.

The Stevie Nicks Ivory Keys blog posted demos of most of the songs on the album and some background info on each:
1. Starshine Recorded in April 1980 with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
2. If You Were My Love Written in 1980. Recorded for Bella Donna, Mirage, and Street Angel. When explaining her songs that were recorded in May 1981 for the next Fleetwood Mac album, Mirage, Stevie tells Bay Area Magazine (09/1981): “There's another song called "If You Were My Love" that I wrote about a year ago after I'd recorded "Outside the Rain" with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers. I spent a week recording with them and I had so much fun that I was really bummed out when it was over. That's when I wrote that song.”
3. Mabel Normand Demoed circa 1984 in the Rock A Little sessions.
4. Twisted (Deluxe Bonus Track) Written in 1996 for the Twister soundtrack. Also released in demo form on Enchanted in 1998.
5. 24 Karat Gold Earliest versions are dated January 1980.
6. Belle Fleur Master Reel recordings exist from 1981 from the Bella Donna sessions. Stevie has also said she re-recorded it for The Wild Heart.
7. All The Beautiful Worlds Originally recorded in Dallas, Texas, in 1982, for The Wild Heart, produced by Gordon Perry.
8. Lady Unknown as of now. Possibly "Knocking On Doors".
9. I Don’t Care Unknown as of now. The snippet reveals it to be a rocker.
10. Watch Chain (Deluxe Bonus Track) Originally recorded in 1978.
11. Hard Advice Unknown as of now, but it was copyrighted as written in 1995 and recorded in 1997.
12. Carousel Unknown as of now. The title has been known to fans since at least 1981.
13. Blue Water Written in Hawaii in Early 1978, recorded in March 1978.
14. Cathouse Blues Copyrighted in 1970, most likely recorded around 1974 in the sessions for the second Buckingham Nicks album.
15. The Dealer Written and copyrighted in 1978. Recorded for Tusk and Bella Donna. Stevie also recorded it for Rock A Little, but no copies exist of those sessions.
16. She Loves Him Still Written in 1984 and slated for inclusion on the Rock A Little album in November 1984.
