Get it Taylor!
For comparison's sake, on 9/23/07, Some Hearts was at 5,930,816 and sold 11,601 copies that week.

Would I be completely wrong to think "Innocent" is about John Mayer?

Actually, I can completely see that. If I had to guess while just listening to it (without the VMA performance attached) I would think it was about someone she knew more than just casually and was friends with. John Mayer and the Playboy incident would fit. But then there's the "new Septembers" line presumably referencing the 2009 VMAs.... Maybe it's a bit of both.

Would I be completely wrong to think "Innocent" is about John Mayer? That's what I said on another forum... That's completely who I would assume the song was about if they didn't present it as being about Kanye. It was the first thing I thought of when I heard the song, actually. John, coincidentally, also happens to be 32. And one of the articles said the song was written earlier this year. Which was when his controversy happened. Btw, why the hell is Taylor getting all this hate for not letting go of the Kanye thing (even though she never actually talks about it). When Kanye can't stop talking about??? First those tweets, then trying to get her to perform with him and now he's written a whole story about it for XXL magazine. LINK And she's the one that's milking it? Sure....

Would I be completely wrong to think "Innocent" is about John Mayer? I might like it a little bit more if I thought it was. Good thought. :) Plus, she's always been friendly with John. I'm sure she was quite disappointed to hear about the Playboy incident.

I'm sure she was quite disappointed to hear about the Playboy incident. There's another song that will probably be on the album called "Dear John", that might be about him. We know nothing about it other than the title, and that Taylor wrote it. But trying to guess what the song could be about (if it is about him), I thought maybe it could be a song she wrote for him after his controversy. But maybe that's what "Innocent" was for. Other than the September line, I think the lyrics fit better for him than they do for Kanye... Guess you really did it this time Left yourself in your war path Lost your balance on a tight rope Lost your mind trying to get it back Wasn’t it easier in your lunchbox days Always a bigger bed to crawl into Wasn’t it beautiful when you believed in everything And everybody believed in you It’s alright, just wait and see Your string of lights is still bright to me Oh, who you are is not where you’ve been You’re still an innocent Still an innocent It’s okay, life is a tough crowd Thirty two and still growing up now Who you are is not what you did You’re still an innocent Time turns flames to embers You’ll have new Septembers Every one of us has messed up too Minds change like the weather I hope you remember Today is never too late to… be brand new.

Wasn’t it easier in your lunchbox days Room for Squares "83" reference? If only she mentioned napalm or something.

You're right; I'd forgotten that. And there's a line in John's song Comfortable about not remembering "what went wrong last September." We'll probably never know, but I'd kind of like to think Taylor doesn't care about Kanye enough to write a song like Innocent for/about him; she probably wrote a scathing song about him right after it happened and moved on. (I could see why it'd be better to be seen as being about Kanye though, given the dating rumors about JM and Taylor in the past.) Have you seen them analyzing the song on the JM forum?

I hadn't seen that but I was wondering if his fans were talking about it. Thanks. So the September line does apply to John as well. Personally, I think the song's for John. But she realized that it also applies to the Kanye situation. I don't think she was originally planning on performing at the VMA's, it was a last minute announcement. I think after Kanye's tweet spree and turning down his offer to perform with him, her and her people realized they had to do something. Otherwise she would've come off looking bad and unforgiving. So they thought performing this would be a perfect way to deal with it. Which I would've thought too. Oh, well. I'm going to choose to believe it's for John. I'll make me like it even for. (love him)

6 million for an album released in 2008 is unheard of and legendary :O I don't think we'll be seeing many CDs (if any) released during 2008 or later hit 6 million anymore.

To put things further into perspective, RIAA reports a 52% drop in album sales from 2000 to 2009. If 'Fearless' were released in 1999 or 2000, the peak of album sales, it would be well over 12 million copies in the US alone. If released in 2005 (mid-decade), three years before it's actual release, at an estimated 10-12% decline in sales per year during the second half of the decade, it's adjusted sales to date would be ~ 8 million. I am doubtful if we will ever see a 6 million+ selling record released today.

Unless Taylor beats her own record.
Eminem's Recovery could also top 5/6 million.

Didn't Fearless spend more weeks in the top 10 than Come On Over did? Had Fearless been release in the same sales period as Come On Over, it would've been just as big, perhaps even a bit bigger than the latter was in the US. Unless Taylor beats her own record. Eminem's Recovery could also top 5/6 million. 5 million yes. 6 million no unless there is a re-release.

^I don't think the date when she will be in Sweden is confirmed yet. Sep 24 is the date when the new season of the show, which she will be on, starts. She has a concert in LA on Sep 23.

MTV asked viewers to rank their favorite VMA performances this year and Taylor came in second (behind Eminem and Rihanna).

"Dear John" is a confirmed track. Selena Gomez talked about listening to Taylor's album in an interview and said that her favorite songs were that one and track #13 (she couldn't remember the title).

You can preview the album tracks on Itunes, starting Oct 15.It's probably similar to Fearless where some tracks were released for purchase prior to the official album launch date.

Kinda weird that they're starting it just 10 days before the release. iTunes countdowns usually start about a month ahead of time and they release a song a week.
Also surprised we haven't gotten a tracklisting yet. But we now have half of the album's titles confirmed.
Mine Sparks Fly Innocent Back to December Speak Now The Story of Us Dear John
Other likely, but still unconfirmed titles are 'Bother Me', 'Mean' and 'We Will Be Remembered'.
