Video news!!!!
50 Helps Mary J. Blige Relive Her Most Embarrassing Moment 04.03.2006 6:00 AM EDT
Diva's 'Enough Crying' video re-creates her love life's lowest point. Mary J. Blige has had her share of mishaps with love, but as she's matured, she hasn't been afraid to talk about it or even make fun of it.
Recently, she was in Long Beach, California, filming the clip for "Enough Crying" with director Hype Williams and guest star 50 Cent and simultaneously reliving a very uncomfortable event from her love life.
"The video is [about] something that happened a long time ago, and it was a very embarrassing moment when I thought I was getting married," she explained in between shooting. "I was engaged to [Jodeci singer K-Ci], and I actually went on a talk show overseas and that person had just done that talk show about a week before me. I was telling the interviewer that I was getting married, and the week before he was saying that it was a rumor. He wasn't marrying me. It was a disaster that really embarrassed me."
MJB said she definitely wanted to share the horrific moment with her fans, and that incident is what the song is about.
"I'm saying, 'I'm getting on with my life. I'm gonna go ahead and do my work,' " she said.
In the video, after she leaves the interview, she goes to a photo shoot.
"I leave the interview and I'm kind of upset, but I'm still kind of going through my photo shoot," Blige said. "It ends up being one of the most amazing photo shoots because of all of the anger and depression and the fact that I choose to just move on with my life and be a superstar."
When you have superstar friends like 50 Cent, who needs a casting agent? All Blige had to do was call him, and he agreed to act in the video.
"I got a phone call from Mary when I was actually in Bangkok, I was touring out there," 50 said. "Me, her and [Blige's husband] Kendu have a good relationship, and she just worked with me on Mobb Deep's new album, Blood Money. So we got a chance to communicate back and forth for those reasons, and the idea of me being in the video came up. I was like, 'I'd love to.' "
"Me and my husband took him as a friend," Blige added. "He's someone we know we could talk to and call on if we have a question about something we can't answer because, quite frankly, 50 is very intelligent and we really appreciate his expertise, and we really appreciate his opinions and the advice he's given us."
In the video, 50 didn't have to change his name too much, but he did have to switch professions.
"Well, I'm actually playing C.J. --- you know, short for Curtis Jackson," he said. "He's an R&B singer, and he's aggressive. When he's questioned by the guy interviewing them, he kind of loses his cool."
"I don't want to give it away," Blige said. "It's real comical, what he does to the interviewer. I'm just glad he's here. I love 50. I'm so happy. He's so supportive of Mary J. Blige, and I'm very supportive of 50. He's just gonna make the video that much better than what it already is."
Blige said she's still solidifying her tour plans for this year, but it looks like she'll be going on the road this summer by herself.
"The tour is definitely happening now in July," she said. "I believe that's the tour. Who's going out? It will probably just be me. ... We're trying to get the right package. We don't have a name for the tour yet."
"Enough Crying" will hit the air this week.

Mary is Brook right? Why is the song credited as "Mary J Blige featuring Brook(lyn)" then? LMAO!! That's so cheesy

This is almost a lock for at least top 5 Urban, and so probably top 10 or 15 Rhythmic. The big question is whether or not this will crossover to Pop. UAC play should be aiite.

I don't see her having anywhere as nearly a big hot on pop with this as 'Be Without You'...but with downloads and a surefire urban #1...and top 5 rhythmic....I think it will be in the top 10 of the Hot 100. I think that this will be the only other prominent Hot 100 hit from this album though...the rest of the singles will be big r&b hits...but not Hot 100. Just my guess.

Mary is Brook right? Why is the song credited as "Mary J Blige featuring Brook(lyn)" then? LMAO!! That's so cheesy MTV asked her the same question on the set of the "Touch It" video and Mary said Brook is an alter-ego who allows her to say whatever she wants about anybody and she doesn't feel any regrets for what "Brook" said. I think its super tacky but whatever. She is the queen, delivered the mail, 730,000 first week of her sales.

Hated this track originally. But after hearing it on Hot97 and seeing it performed live on SNL, I've some how attained an entirely new perspective. I hope this does well and I'm crossing my fingers for Mary to get her 5th solo Top 10 hit.
I'm really glad that The Breakthrough is most likely going to be her most successful album. It isn't her best album but it's close.

I don't really care for this song, but I do like the instrumental.
For a 3rd single, I hope it's either "I Found My Everything" or "Gonna Breakthrough".

I don't really care for this song, but I do like the instrumental. I don't really care for this song too, even though it's very HOT lol It's probably one of my least favourite tracks from her amazing album, but it's a very great choice for a single!

Already up to #22 at Billboard R&B they list it as featuring Brooklyn but still, clearly this is going top 10 at R&B, that's the least. And she has at least 3 more singles on this album.... ahhhh it's such a master piece.

This is will mos def be another classic added to Mary J's impressive resume of classic hits. I caught Mary perfomance on David Letterman last night!!!!!! The perfomance was simply hot to def. Her vocals are so on point...Se sounds so much more confindent and the vocals are better than ever. If u missed the perfomance of EC go to you tube and search mary j blige and it should come up. EC is the JAM!!!!!! Of the year....So Hottttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!! Mary keep it up!!!!!!! Iam sure your album will hit 4x or 5x platinum.

I LOVE the album. Excellent choice for a second single! The third should be Gonna Breakthorugh, the fourth Ain't Really Love and the last one Baggage. But there are so many good tracks on this one.

I like the video but I don't think Mary looks that good in it. Her lips are to big and her eyes look weird.

Seriously, it's BORING. This song needed a HOT ghetto ass video. The photoshoot thing is way too alike to Jennifer's part on Control Myself video. But yeah, its boring UNTIL Brook-Lyn comes out and that's when it gets HOT (at least the rap part) Brook is SO fucking ghetto and so HAWT at the same time. Brook is my bitch now! Do yo thang sista!

not ghetto enough? did you WATCH the part with the rap? hahah. other than that part it's really professional, true, but Brook's part is rrreal ghetto (in a good way). the end of the video picks up, her looks are all really cool if not necessarily pretty. i dono i like it.
