No Mark Goofman this week... errors should be way down.
1. In her weekly chart screw up Toni Basil was dropped eleven, Hey Nina it climbed 39-48 2. Alan said this was 1983, then he peaked Sweet Time at #28 really #26 3. Nina called her Evelyn Champagne King but at this point the bubbly was gone. Then in Shame she said 1974, really 1978 for her first biggie 4. The display listed him as MMM, but he was still being billed as Michael Murphey at this point 5. Alan said countdown Who Can It Be Now was Men's biggest, really Down Under 6. Nina said 'Sorry was a twelve week top fiver, really 11 for Chicago

Casey lite actually ID'd the 10/1/83 chart correctly, no Nina Blunderwood, errors should be way down Isn't this like the third time she's missed 83 recently? I don't ask why Nina is gone, I just enjoy the fewer flubs. 1. Mark said countdown Lawyers was Browne's last top 20; of course he got there again as a 'Friend of Clarence Clemons. Then he slotted All Night Long at #23 before correctly re-placing Lionel @ #28 later in the intro. 2. Alan said Cold Heart by Elt & Dua Lipa came out last year, really 2021 3. Mark said Sweet Dreams was Eurythmics 4th album single; really the first US. Then he peaked at #2, really a chart topper. Then he said it was top fiver for six, really 7 weeks. 4. Mark held King of Pain at #6, really 6-11

1. Alan said HL was #1 in 1981 with Don't You Want Me... really 1982. Then in their ever changing definition of a hit, he said Running Scared had 'em by New Edition and Patti LaBelle. Those never made the Hot 100 but he omitted a Kim Wilde near top 40 miss. 2. Mark peaked Point in November, really the 10/11 panel for Nu Shooz. Then he said All Cried Out was a Summer smash; it peaked at #8 on the 10/25 chart.... 3. OMG, Alan said Twist and Shout was a Blue Notes classic.... the group was Top Notes and it was Isley Bros version that was the first hit. 4. Mark said Typical Male got stuck behind #1 Cyndi Lauper for three weeks; that would be kinda hard since True Colors was only #1 for two. The other was actually Jan Jackson. 5. Alan said Walk This Way introduced Aerosmith, they had already been introduced with Sweet Emotion and Dream On 6. Mark said Friends and Lovers was released after the Both To Each Other version by Juice and Eddie. The latter actually first charted 7/12 or a week after Carl and Gloria.

1. In her weekly content screwup Nina started the '9/18/81' show by saying I'm In Love was Evelyn Champagne King but as Gary Owens told us on the real thing filling in for Casey, at this point she was no longer being billed by the bubbly. 2. Strange version of Breakup Song, ouch, not the hit. 3. Mark said Cool Love would peak in a couple weeks; it had already topped off at #13 4. Mark said the 'Sisters were destined to get to stuck at #2 which would be behind the same #1 as this countdown. Slow Hand had already had its destiny fulfilled and was headed down the chart

1989 is back...so soon?
1. Alan placed Romantics What I Like in 1979; charted on Hot 100 in 1980. 2. In her weekly chart screw up Nina dropped Eddie Murphy six, really 35-27. Then she said Sacred Emotion fell sixteen, really 28-16 and Donald Clark Osmond's countdown album had four charters... three tunes cracked the Hot 100 3. Alan said Surface was Showering the countdown with their biggest hit, but the reached #1 for The First Time later on 4. After Mark said countdown Don't Wanna Lose You was Gloria's first solo #1, Alan said it was co-written by Gloria and Emilio was their 2nd chart topper? Both this and prior MSS #1 Anything For You were Gloria solo writes.

In the almost fifteen years sirius xm has aired American top 40 Is this the first time they aired an episode with a guest host? (Let's pretend Wheel of Casey doesn't count) According to LVK over on the AT40 forum, there was at least one other show that XM aired back in 2007 back when they aired 80s AT40. They played May 26th '84, hosted by Charlie Van Dyke. Anyway, here's this week’s American Top 40, featuring guest host Larry McKay, from September 2nd, 1978: *the chart positions for 37, 35 & 30 were mixed up somehow, so I’ve listed them in the order they were played with their proper movements. 40 DE CRYSTAL GAYLE - TALKING IN YOUR SLEEP 39 DE THE MOODY BLUES - STEPPIN’ IN A SLIDE ZONE38 DE AEROSMITH - COME TOGETHER 35 37 CHERYL LADD - THINK IT OVER 36 38 GERRY RAFFERTY - RIGHT DOWN THE LINE 30 39 BARBRA STREISAND - LOVE THEME FROM “EYES OF LAURA MARS” (PRISONER) 34 35 FOXY - GET OFF 33 34 THE KINKS - A ROCK ’N’ ROLL FANTASY 32 32 THE CARS - JUST WHAT I NEEDED 31 33 ROBIN GIBB - OH! DARLING 37 25 RITA COOLIDGE - YOU29 31 KENNY LOGGINS - WHENEVER I CALL YOU “FRIEND” 28 29 TEDDY PENDERGRASS - CLOSE THE DOOR 27 28 ANNE MURRAY - YOU NEEDED ME 26 27 BOB SEGER & The Silver Bullet Band - HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS 25 26 VILLAGE PEOPLE - MACHO MAN24 14 BARRY MANILOW - COPACABANA (At the Copa) 23 24 EDDIE MONEY - TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE 22 23 LITTLE RIVER BAND - REMINISCING 21 22 QUINCY JONES - STUFF LIKE THAT20 10 DONNA SUMMER - LAST DANCE 19 36 BOSTON - DON’T LOOK BACK18 20 RICK JAMES - YOU AND I 17 17 TOBY BEAU - MY ANGEL BABY 16 19 JOHN PAUL YOUNG - LOVE IS IN THE AIR 15 21 JOHN TRAVOLTA, OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN & CAST - SUMMER NIGHTS 14 15 CHRIS REA - FOOL (IF YOU THINK IT’S OVER) 13 16 NICK GILDER - HOT CHILD IN THE CITY 12 06 deleted CRUISE - LOVE WILL FIND A WAY 11 13 EARTH, WIND & FIRE - GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE 10 12 Evelyn “CHAMPAGNE” King - SHAME 09 08 WALTER EGAN - MAGNET AND STEEL 08 09 ANDY GIBB - AN EVERLASTING LOVE 07 11 EXILE - KISS YOU ALL OVER 06 03 THE ROLLING STONES - MISS YOU 05 07 OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN - HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO YOU 04 05 FOREIGNER - HOT BLOODED 03 04 A TASTE OF HONEY - BOOGIE OOGIE OOGIE 02 02 COMMODORES - THREE TIMES A LADY 01 01 FRANKIE VALLI - GREASEAh yes the good ole' days when XM aired Casey instead of their own homemade error filled 80s countdown.

Before looking at "8/31/84" let's close the book on 1987
1. Alan peaked Danny Wilson at #6; really #23 2. Mark said High Life was the 5th single, really 4th from Winwood's countdown album
Now on to this week:
1. Mark said Drive '55 was Sammy's biggest solo record... really his 3rd highest charter. 2. Mark said Frey's countdown album contained his biggest hits like Smugglers Blues? The Heat Is On, You Belong To the City?? Neither were on Allnighter. 3. Alan said Missing You would reach #1 in a week or two... it got there three panels later on 9/22. Then he said Tina's Together was from 1983. It charted in this same 1984 countdown year. 4. These flubs are a Hard Habit To Break. Alan said Chicago's countdown song was Cetera and 'Will" Champlin. Then he said it was nominated for an Oscar? Could he have been thinking about Stevie's just played countdown song? Or the one coming up by RPJ??

Error Hunter was out for this "8/22/80" show, did it mean fewer blunders?
1. Mark said Stand By Me was Mickey Gilley's 8th really 9th country #1 2. In her weekly chart screw up Nina ^ Bob Seger nine, really 26-37. Then she raised All Out Of Love nineteen... really 8-21 3. In the outro for JoJo Mark said they were counting down 1988? Or is it 1989, as that's the version of Into The Night Casey lite played 4. Mark placed Arthur's Theme as a track on Christopher Cross debut album.... 5. In her weekly content screw up Nina said former Mac'er Billy Burnette is nephew to countdown Rocky.... they are cousins.

This good news is they actually played Chicago this time!
1. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Alan said the guys had a couple from Ooh Yeah! But H&O would connect on three top 40s. Casey lite also referred to non top 40 If You Let Me Stay as a biggie for TTD but #9 Love Will Save the Day as a minor hit for Whitney?? 2. Mark said Colour of Luvvv was the 3rd single from Ocean's album, really 2nd from Tear Down These Walls 3. Mark held Sweet Child at #13, really ^ 13-18 4. Alan said their countdown song was the 7th top 40 for Gloria Estefan and MSS. It was actually the 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9th 5. Mark said Make Me Lose Control was one of Carmen's seven top tenners. Eric had three top tenners. The countdown song, Hungry Eyes and All By Myself (four if you include Raspberries Go All The Way)

No Mark Goofman= fewer talk breaks= less mistakes. Maybe Error Hunter will take off next?
1. Nina said LL & CJ w/FF's countdown song was released in 1984?? That was an awful slow climb being 'Wonder just entered the 40 the prior panel 2. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Alan including Long and Winding Road from Suddenly... it never reached the Hot 100 for Ocean 3. Alan claimed State of the Heart was released by Eric McCusker... not quite he was the writer of the Mondo Rock (Eric was a group member) release

But wait there's more!
5. Alan said Terrance Trent D'Arbys first and second hits were Wishing Well and If You Let Me Stay, but flip those. 6. Mark said Breathe had several prior singles either not or barely charting... but 'Heaven was their first Hot 100 entry?
As of Sat AM, they are still playing Foreigner at #13

Lol they played foreigner instead of Chicago ..Will anyone notice? It's been a rough night so far. 1. Maybe Nina is looking at the 7/29/88 chart? She dropped Poison nine really 36-25, she ^ Perfect World six, really 28-36, and she dropped Paradise seven really 24-16 2. Alan said Deborah Gibson was @ #1 a couple weeks back. He must of lost track of time because it was the 6/25 panel. Then he said Hank Ballard's Twist was 1958, it was the flip of Teardrops On Your Letter charting Mar 59 3. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Mark said countdown Just Got Paid was the only one for Johnny Kemp ignoring his top 40 Birthday Suit. 4. In her weekly content screw up Nina said Reg was Elt's 21st album; that would be 21 At 33. Then she said I Don't Wanna was his biggest of the decade, but that was really 'Friends with Dionne, Gladys and Stevie

No Nina Blunderwood=fewer talk breaks= far fewer flubs:
1. Display lists Boy George countdown song as I'll Tumble For Ya 2. Mark said countdown Baby Jane was Rockin' Rod's biggest since 'Sexy in 1978?! 3. I wish these flubs would Stop as Alan said Supremes hit was in 1966, but it reached #1 in Mar '65. Then in their ever changing definition of a hit, he didn't mention Souls when running 'em off from Rick's 'Oz.

Onto the '7/14/89' show
1. Casey lite played the 89 rerecord of Into The Night not the rereleased hit version. The display lists 1980 2. Alan said Hey Baby was Summer's 2nd biggest behind signature 'Girl. I Wish he'd check the charts and see that peaked at #20 vs #18 for the countdown song. 3. It's 24/7 flubs. Mark said Dino's countdown I Like it was the 3rd single, really 2nd. 4. Alan's intro was misplaced, he was talking about #4 Toy Soldiers when they hadn't played #5 Milli Vanilli yet

you would think with so much info on the internet they would do better research for each episode. That's the problem they rely on Wiki which is rarely correct. Or they misread what is in Wiki. They need to invest a few bucks in some Whitburn books.

There's lots more!
5. Alan debuted Sheena w/Modern Girl, of course that was when she rode the Morning Train to #1 6. OMG, Mark called 'Hero artist Joey Scarborough. At least he got the 6/13 and 8/15 chart dates correct even after referring to this week as 7/10 7. Another weird non hit version this time Jessie's Girl 8. Mark said Air Supply was a duo but as Casey told us on the real thing this week, that didn't happen until Just As I Am.

It's been another rough 81 start for Copycat Casey:
1. Right outta the gate they played a weird version of Breakup Song not the hit. Then Mark Missed Again saying countdown In The Air Tonight was Collins first single. 2. Alan peaked Beauregard Duke at #15, really #14 for Now Or Never 3. In her weekly chart screw up Nina ^ Stroke five, really 28-34. Then Mark topped Sweet Baby off at #6, really #19 4. All these flubs are giving me a Seven Year Ache; Alan said Cash had ten country 1s, really eleven

Nina said In Too Deep was the 2nd single off Invisible Touch. Of course it was actually the 5th and final single in the U.S. (2nd in the UK) 2. Alan said there were 2 more 'Cop songs to come after Michael's 'Sex, only one as another had already been played. 3. Fudge! In her weekly content screw up Nina said Vanilla's Hangin' reached #6 in '66, really 1968. Then in her weekly chart screw up she dropped Always six really 12-5 4. Alan said Bruce Hornsby broke thru with The Way It Is then 'Kissed #14 with his countdown song. Of course he stood in the Mandolin Rain between those two.

1. It was a tug-o-war as Alan correctly ID'd the chart date as 6/23/84 but the other VJs said it was June 22nd. 2. Mark said I Can Dream was the first movie song on the countdown.... they had already spun Against All Odds and Footloose entries. 3. Alan said Corey's Sunglasses was his biggest... I will Never Surrender until these flubs end! 4. Mark said Van Stephenson started his career as a songwriter with a string of hits for among others.... Restless Heart. Those actually came well after countdown Delilah.

1.How do FM radio stations decide on what songs to play, now that 98% of them, no longer have a request line number for people to request songs they want to hear? 2.Do record labels have to pay each radio station to get them to play a song? 3.Do the program & music director of each station get to pick and choose which songs they want to play? 4. If the Program, Music Director or both just hate a song and decide to under play a song, or not play it at all, does that mean the whole city is $ucked, if people (in the city) want to hear that song & do like it? I am sure in each city, there are songs that have gone top 10 or 20 on the music radio charts & the radio station act like the song does not exist at all. 5. How do radio stations know what songs are doing well & which ones are not? They can't get any feedback from people in the city or town because they have no request lines to get feedback from? I can't find anything on these questions on Google, Yahoo or any other place online. Another thing in the era of corporate radio, the local program/ music director might have limited leeway in what they can play. Most of the playlist is decided by a honcho in an office 1000 miles away.

Last night I listened to WSMG broadcast of 6/23/1979. They covered the 4 hour show in 3 hours and 39 minutes. The show itself was 3 hours and 20 minutes. They really cut out the commercials. Just 19 minutes of station ids and ads. I believe Premiere offers the 1st hour commercial free as an incentive for affiliates to air all 4hrs. That's why the first hr on KOKZ always has so much filler. I'd rather the show end a little early.

That's a new one! This week's Casey lite starting with last week's close.
1. Alan said Never Been To Me was a 1976 rerelease. Charlene first charted 9/77. 2. Alan said Making Love was the biggest hit for Burt B and Carole BS?? Huh? Arthur's Theme? Dionne's Friends w/ Elt, Gladys and Stevie?? On My Own and Heartlight? 3. In her weekly content screw up Nina said they were counting down 1987 4. After Mark called him John Mellencamp, still billed in 1982 as John Cougar, he said Africa was the second IV single. Really 3rd after countdown Rosanna and Make Believe.
At least they played the 45 version of Do I Do!
