People take award shows way too seriously. Agreed. It's like, go outside... Enjoy summer... Talk to people in real life.

I watched this whole show and didn't think it was that great.Adele's performance was the best performance of the VMAs.The other performances weren't even that great. What was up with using the Britney Tribute to intro Beyonce? Kayne and Jay-Z totally awful. One of the worst VMA performances ever.VMAs 2009 and 2010 were much better than this.

One of the worst VMA performances ever? No. Taylor's "Innocent" performance is easily worse by a lot. Britney's "Gimme More" is worse, ignoring the comedic factor.
Beyonce had the best performance hands down. Adele and Gaga follows.

Taylor Swift's performance of "Innocent" was the classy moment of the VMAs last year.Taylor's performance stood out among the performances last year.

Of course Taylor fans will love it. Just like fans of any singer would prefer their respective performances.

It put me to sleep. She sounded like s**t. It was forgotten. This. Even on the album, I skip "Innocent" A LOT!

I don't even remember the performance anymore. Aside from that I do think the Jay-Z/Kanye performance was bad. Not one of the worst ever, but not good either.
Adele was the best, with BeyoncΓ© as a close second.

The top 4 were fantastic. I enjoyed Chris Brown and Jay-Z & Kanye a lot too. Though, especially if we ignore the adorableness of the pregnancy announcement, none of this year's performances measured up to Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" from 2009 or Kanye West's "Runaway" from 2010 - IMO, 2 of the all-time best VMA performance moments.
1 Beyonce 2 Adele 3 Lady Gaga 4 Bruno Mars 5 Jay-Z & Kanye West 6 Chris Brown

Basically for the females I agree...I love Love on top by Beyonce but if she weren't announcing her pregnancy the performance alone would not have been the top of the night. I expected more from Gaga. I still think Chris had the best performance, then Adele, Beyonce and the rest don't matter...

Beyonce's performance and baby announcement saved the nightmare that the VMAs were this year. They should give her a tribute next year simply for this fact alone. And yes, Jay Z and Kanye's performance was one of the worst ever. I like Jay but it is what it is.

I'm throwing no shade because I respect her enormous talent but I have to ask: was Beyonce singing along to a pre-recorded vocal backing track? She just sounded way too 'perfect' in some segments, even the ones where she was shaking her booty...

I don't think it's any question that she was singing to a backing track.
