I would think most of the 'divas' wouldn't want to perform outside in 20 degree or below temperatures. It would be a mess for them.lol This year it will be in-stadium.

Good choice for Halftime show.I was expecting a older act like Bon Jovi to get picked since the Super Bowl is in New Jersey. He has the stage performance to do a 15 minute set for Halftime.

JT doesn't need to perform at the SB- we've seen him do a lengthy rundown of his career at the VMAs, and that likely would be similar to a SB performance- though he wouldn't have as much airtime.

Score one for the dudes! Probably the best contemporary choice for this outlet.

It's overwhelming. It seems to me like every exrtaordinary performance, every rave review of his show sum up right now...
Bruno's just a man in his 20s. Two albums under his belt. Only 3 years since his debut single.
and he gets to perform on the biggest platform you could actually think of...
They were just interviewed @ Live on FOX NFL SUNDAY

The 2014 SuperBowl will be in Jersey at MetLife, which is outdoors. No roof. It's the first "cold weather" city that's hosting SB without a dome. BM is OK, but it's a strange choice because he's just not that well known to the GENERAL public. Great exposure for him, but won't create the kind of buzz that Madonna or, even Beyonce, did. I'm surprised they haven't gone with a country act - like Luke Bryan, who is pretty hot right now and has songs that bridge country/rock.

According to them, the performance would be in-stadium and then had a source, so I assumed that meant they would somehow get Bruno to perform inside somewhere. Clicked on the link and it brought me here. Nothing in that article talks about the performance other than speculating whether or not there will be one. The article is from February.

The only surprise is that they did not pick a New York act, other than that, Bruno Mars is a fine choice. The 'general public' will be familiar enough as he has been all over the radio the last few years

Wait Bruno's band member just wrote they knew about this for months alredy :o Well, yeah. I'm sure it's been held in for quite some time, and I'm sure that if they had him pegged for such a lengthy time prior to the day of the show, he must've had to adjust some portions of his tour schedule to make extra room at the end of 2013 for rehearsals and major preparation. Couldn't be happier with this decision! I've been watching some performances of his on YT again (namely "Treasure" from the Billboards, "Runaway Baby" from the Grammys, etc.) and it really makes me happy with this pick. He's young and it's early in his career, but he's such a seasoned performer that those aspects mean little to nothing.

It just cracks me up. No wonder he did't give a f**k about VMAs media coverage knowing that he kept another ace up his sleeve.

It seems a little bit soon for him, but I actually think this is a spectacular choice. My parents LOVE him. I feel like he gets more of the old fogey and young crowd than most would.

Wendy Williams was on the panel who selected the Halftime show performer this year. She talked about it on her show back in the spring that she was campaigning for Lady Gaga. Guess she got outvoted.

Finna be the best superbowl performance EVER .... after Beyonce's. Quoted for truth. It seems a little early for Bruno to headline such a huge event, but he's an amazing performer and will put on a great show so I'm happy. Two great performers in a row. I'll co sign the movement to get Pink next year.

^We're talking about halftime shows, dahhhlllinggg. But, you, of course, knew that. Ain't no one as legendary as Her Madgesty. Even Queen B. bows down to her regalness. Bruno will be a good, entertaining fit for this event.

I personally think Madonna is legendary, has a great catalog, and is one of the biggest stars ever, but I don't think she's that much of a performer. Her superbowl performance was great and I liked it, but I think it didn't have much to do with Madonna's talent. But that's just my opinion :) Bruno will give it his all, and I'm sure it will be great :)

You're entitled to that, jback- just as there will be some who don't think Beyonce or another act isn't. They could see Queen B as nothing but one hair flip and booty-shake after another (Not I, naturally). But, M is regarded as one of the all-time great live performers, as well, in addition to everything else. I wonder if Bruno will perform a medley of *all* of his hits. Probably could so so in 12 minutes.

With the game taking place in Jersey, I'm surprised that they didn't go toward Bon Jovi. Seems a natural fit.
But, I suppose we are far enough removed from Nipplegate that more contemporary acts can be courted to perform the Halftime.

^Well, The Beatles as an entity- probably so... but just a little bit. ;) But, he is SIR Paul, so there's that, too. Both are right up there, though.
Among older/veteran acts, there are a lot who haven't done the halftime show. Fleetwood Mac, for one, would be a good older act, if the NFL were to go back to such- the band members are in their 60s, but 70-year-old Christine McVie recently said she'd join her former bandmates on stage in the UK if they asked her.
