I was very bored. Each element of his performance was taking from the AMAs, VMAs, BBMAs, etc. It was like a mash up with no new elements. It was very mediocre for a Superbowl performance. The only highlighting feature will be the RHCP. If you were bored then obviously you do not appreciate good music..a NATURAL Performer that let's his true talent speak for itself... I appreciate good music and talent so that is a false statement from you. It's just it was what I expected. I wanted a new element.

Per an 83 year old that I'm watching the game with when the RHCP came on he asked what this was. Music? I have to agree. Lot's of energy by Bruno and his band but we couldn't hear him sing at all. The music drowned it out. Best parts - his intro on the drums and his backward dance moves (oh and the light show). Otherwise, it was pretty much what I expected. Could have really done without the RHCP. I like a lot of their stuff but I like a singer that can sing live. This band doesn't offer that. No one in the group I watched with knew who Bruno Mars was so it was just something to look at until the game started again. Well honey, if you were watching from a retirement home that's not really a surprise.

I loved it!! Bruno was great. So much energy. He's such a great performer. If he was a female, he'd be praised to know end on here!
Could have went without the peppers, but there just not my cup of tea.

Bey's was better last year -- that's no surprise.
He absolutely killed it, though. Vocals were spot on, he sang the right songs (God bless the soul that made sure "Grenade" wasn't in there), the RHCP collab was great, and the light show to go with it was perfect. Everything was great.

I just watched the half time show and i have to say, Just The Way You are has to be the greatest live performance of a song I've ever personally seen, the energy at the end of the song was perfect.

No one in the group I watched with knew who Bruno Mars was so it was just something to look at until the game started again. Well honey, if you were watching from a retirement home that's not really a surprise. snicker. In seriousness though a high school classmate of mine was asking 'who is this Bruno Mars' guy on fb. I was kind of appalled but not really surprised. I personally loved the show; my only real complaint is that he didn't do more songs, and RHCP only did one song when they could have easily squeezed in two more and their own mini-set in their time on stage. If my only gripe is that they didn't sing more songs I'd say you can't get much better than that. objectively I get the complaints that it was 'boring' but I think that comes down to how opposite Bruno's approach is to the two shows immediately preceding him. I remember last year the big thing was how Beyonce's show focused so much more on the performance compared to Madonna's big production (and I remember most of the complaints being similar to now - 'boring,' 'she didn't do anything new'). Bruno's set was almost austere compared to Beyonce - the only 'flashy' thing on the stage was his and his band's jackets and brass instruments. And it seemed like he was certainly NOT interested in doing anything new - he wanted this to seem as much like a typical Bruno Mars concert as possible, RHCP aside. Seeing as he's still getting the 'who is this guy?' thing I don't think that is a bad move. This was essentially an opportunity to sell his brand to the largest audience ever, so he shouldn't have done anything new, even if that meant boring the people who are familiar with his style.

Perfect example of why I have pretty much quit posting on this board. The immaturity level is staggering. This used to be a great board.

Great performance! I could have done without the RHCPs, but I guess they add some "credibility" to his performance. The ending was just perfect though!

Smh at the Beyonce comparisons. Can we just be happy we had two kickass Superbowl halftime shows back-to-back?

I was mad the RHCP only did like one song they are one of my favorite bands. I wish they would have done a medley instead of just "Give It Away".

I enjoyed the show. Not too much theatrics , just straight to the point and slayed.

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/chart-alert/5893887/bruno-mars-jukebox-sales-jump-164-after-super-bowl-halftime?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_term=biz_breakingnews&utm_campaign=Breaking%20NewsBruno Mars' 'Jukebox' Sales Jump 164% After Super Bowl Halftime Performance By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | February 03, 2014 Bruno Mars is set to return to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart, thanks to his Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, February 2. According to estimates from industry sources, the entertainer's latest album, "Unorthodox Jukebox," sold perhaps 40,000 copies in the week ending February 2. That would represent a 164% gain compared to the previous week, when it sold 15,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album's official sales figures, as tabulated by SoundScan, will be released on Wednesday, February 5 (the same day as when the new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be unveiled). If "Unorthodox" returns to the top 10 with 40,000, it will mark the album's first visit to the top 10 since the Billboard 200 chart dated Sept. 14, 2013, and its best sales week since March of 2013. "Unorthodox Jukebox" was already aiming to sell around 19,000 in the week ending February 2, thanks in part to Mars' exposure at last week's Grammy Awards (January 26). Mars was presented the award for best pop vocal album on the Grammys, but did not perform on the show. (He got additional screen time from his nominations in other categories -- like record of the year and song of the year -- though he didn't win those races.) According to Nielsen's preliminary viewership numbers, about 97 million TV viewers watched this year's Super Bowl, down from the 109 million that tuned in a year ago (February 3, 2013). Related Last year, Beyonce headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, where she was briefly joined by her Destiny's Child group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Unlike Mars, Beyonce didn't have a current album riding high on the charts at the time. In the week ending February 3, 2013, Beyonce saw her most recent album, 2011's "4," re-enter the Billboard 200 at No. 100 with 4,000 sold (up 123%). The following week -- after a full week of sales impact was felt from the game -- the album climbed to No. 79 with 6,000 (up 59%). The impact of the Super Bowl on Mars' music sales -- and on the Billboard charts -- will be unique compared to all other halftime headliners in the modern era of Super Bowl halftime entertainment. Since 1993, when Michael Jackson headlined the halftime festivities, the main performer on the show has generally been an act with a fairly deep catalog of albums and songs. Mars, however, has only released two albums -- "Unorthodox Jukebox" (released in 2012) and "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" (2010). Thus, all of the sales and chart impact felt by Mars will be concentrated on just those two albums (and their respective singles). Unlike previous years, where everyone from Beyonce and Madonna to Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen saw their post-Super Bowl chart impact spread across multiple albums and songs.

Mr. Mars' numbers showing up all others. :'(
Surprised with the overall game numbers, given that it wasn't much of a game.

I didn't like it that much. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing exciting for me because he does performances of this nature on a regular basis at his concerts and awards show performances. I enjoyed the RHCP part of it though. Perhaps they could have been the main performers instead.

The RHCP segment should have been shorter. And no Grenade? Way too short. But what we did get was great, and obviously made a big impression on the public.

I don't know why people are surprised about no grenade, it's no upbeat and it would have been a poor performance choice. Just The Way You Are is his signature song which is why I'm sure it was the closer.
