What are some songs that you thought would do really well on your personal chart, but ended up totally flopping?
The first one that comes to mind for me is Maroon 5's Seasons. Maroon 5 songs usually don't hit really hard on the first listen for me, and usually grow on me over time. A lot of the tracks from Jordi were no exception. They only got a medium sized album bomb with Can't Leave You Alone debuting at #3, and Lovesick debuting at #8. (Since M5 songs usually grow on me like I said, both of these ended up getting higher than their debuts with CLYA being a five week #1, and Lovesick peaking at #5.) But anyway from there, three weeks after the album bomb, Lost made it's way onto my chart at #10. (It ended up having six weeks at #1.) And then the next week Seasons made it's way onto my chart, also at #10. So because of the reputation M5 songs have on my chart, I totally thought that this was gonna grow on me and become a huge smash. That absolutely did not happen, as it only peaked at #9, and was super far away from even a slight chance at the year end list lolol.
Another one is Jason Derulo and Nuka's Love Not War. This started off really well with a high debut at #5. And I thought it was only going to get higher, seeing how the last two Jason Derulo songs performed. (Savage Love spent two weeks at #1, and Take You Dancing spent five weeks at #1.) But this one totally flopped. It fell down to #6 off the debut, then fell to #8, and then dropped out the next week, missing the year end list. (Barely, but still)

Such an interesting topic, many songs on my chart are there because I actually listen to them, but sometimes my listening habits have been listening to a song a lot and then just dropping it. So a song will debut, for example Ava Max's "Maybe You're The Problem" and I have the intention of making it peak pretty high but it ended up burning out at #28 because I just lost interest.

I LOVE Numb Little Bug by Em Beihold, but by the time I put it on my personal chart (I started the chart in July of this year) it was already starting to fall on radio and I felt like it wasn’t worth it to keep it around when there were so many new songs, so it ended up peaking at #11.

Intersting Topic, but this does happen. I'm goping to post about three acts which usually slay on my charts. All three are rock genre and 80's bands as well.
My most recent would be Billy Idol's "You Don't have To Kiss Me Like That" from last year's "The Roadside" ep. The first single did extremely well going top 10 and I was really excited for the next single because it captured that bit of "Dancing With Myself" magic in the production, but it ended up not even cracking the top 30 on my chart. Can't explain it either. I just completetly slept on giving it repeat plays on my cell and Stereo. The great news is he has relaesd another ep 'The Cage' and that first title track single is straight up my "Jessie's Girl" riff alley.
Another most recent example was the single off Iron Madien's last album 'Senjutsu'. Everyone in the MEtal community seemed excited about "Writing On The Wall". I PULSE premiered the music video one on my Metal chart, but failed to crack the top 5 ,and didn't even cruise over to my all genre top 60. It wasn't only me. The song didn't fare too well on the Billboard Rock chart either. Failing to go top 30. To be fair it wasn't your usual balls out Madien guitar shredding fest. More of a heavy Metal Ballad type, but still a rocker. That being the first single cooled off any cahnce of single two.
Last ,but not least Cheap Trick and songs off thier last album "In Another World". I was super excited for this one. The first single "The Summer Looks Good On You" came and went without a ddent on the charts. Mine was a below top 40 peak. The subsequeent single "Light Up The Fire" was more my style, but stalled in the 20's. The last two albums before that one both scored top 10 single on my charts. What happened this time? For me I felt the flow of the songs sounded forced. Like they are in a different writing style in thier careers , but felt they needed to turn the melodic volume up, and it felt out of place. Especially with "The Summer....." which sounded like a Brayn Adams filler track.

This story is a failed album bomb on my chart. It's Drake's Certified Lover Boy. As a huge fan of Drake, I have to say, what he's put out in the past two years has not been that good. But I expected a huge album bomb for Certified Lover Boy. For context, he had a really big album bomb for Dark Lane Demo Tapes, with Chicago Freestyle debuting at #1, Demons debuting at #2, and Landed debuting at #8. And while Landed wasn't even close to making the year end, Chicago Freestyle made it at #10, and Demons made it at #36. So it was definitely a successful album, therefore I expected a huge album bomb for clb, and a few year end hits. That absolutely did not happen as the only song that debuted was Get Along Better. But at least it had a high debut, debuting at #5, but it did not last as it tanked all the way down to #8 off the debut, then to #9, then out. But then three weeks after it dropped out it returned at #10, only to drop out again the very next week, this time for good. It ended up missing the year end list. Therefore, no songs from clb became a year end hit on my chart.
