It’s kind of easy to forget just how huge she seemed to be becoming between 2017-2020. 5 CHR #1s (though I straight up had forgotten My Oh My existed let alone topped the chart lmao). I don’t think anyone else topped that in that time frame (even Ari only got 4 in that time frame)? But 5 years is a long time to go without making any real splash. Kinda crazy how she fell off. Think this album will need some kind of undeniable “Espresso” type song that will smash the charts no matter what to “reintroduce” her so to speak.

I guess it's easy to forget because she never seemed that big to begin with. She was never an Ariana with a legion of fans. It mostly felt like the label was pouring money on her putting her everywhere and making sure she got some huge features, but she was never an A-list.

It’s definitely true she never established a huge fanbase or became a household name, but it’s also not that easy to get that many big hits in a short frame. Ariana was pretty much the only one keeping up with her at the time in that regard, so kinda says a lot. She was at least establishing herself as a big hitmaker ala Rihanna in the early days before Rihanna became such a brand and name. But then she really just fell off a cliff with the hits and thus that’s never happened.

I loved all five of those #1s (except my oh my which was just pretty good) I wish she’s go back to to pop like romance and piano ballads. This Love is still one of the best songs ever made. Still super excited for this project

I get what you're saying, she did get some huge hits but they seemed few and far between considering all the money the label was spending on her. My Oh My was a hit, but that was after 5 singles from that album had already flopped. So when you put out 6 singles from an album an 1 of them manages to peak just outside the top 10, it's hard for people to see you as a consistent hitmaker. And it's a shame because she makes some great music, especially her last album. But it seems that, save a few exceptions, the public has let her down.

And it's a shame because she makes some great music, especially her last album. But it seems that, save a few exceptions, the public has let her down. I should have specified as well it’s really the 2017-2019 stretch I’m referring to and the 4 huge smashes she had then (Bad Things, Havana, Never Be the Same, Seniorita). Crying in the Club and Consequences were her only flops that got pushed in that time frame, so it was more or less a big hit streak for her. I think My Oh My is kind of the proof of what I’m trying to say where she was seen as a new “it girl” by that point and CHR was desperate to latch onto anything halfway hooky from her. Why else would they take that to #1? Certainly not streaming or audience reception. But yeah throwing so much at the wall ever since Senorita when nearly none have sounded like hits has been a massive problem for her.

I’m rooting for her, at least somewhat. Her last album had a few gems.

Love the cover. I'm probably the only person that actually likes her image/aesthetic this era lol.

Worst cover I have seen on a major release in forever. It fits the aesthetic so far though, at least. I think Camila is going for carefree and easy, but it all comes across as try-hard edgelord.

Romance continues to be her only cover to serve. But I don't hate it either.

I like the cover but the point about it being inauthentic is totally accurate lol she’s just not this “blonde, bad girl” vibe. But I am getting excited for the album!

I'm so confused by this era.
Is she just throwing singles out like glitter into the ocean?
I don't see how this is serving her if it's not a part of a larger release strategy, unless it's to build hype. But she isn't doing anything to actually build hype around any of these songs except post them on Instagram, so my question remains. Why did she waste budget on a music video if nothing was going to come of the song?

Very bizarre rollout so far. They released I Luv It and, despite getting at least some streaming traction, never actually sent it as a single. Then we had a rumored Drake collaboration, "Hot Uptown," that other song in the video that was deleted yesterday, and now a LilNasx collaboration. Do they have a plan at all? Luckily, a really good song is really all that matters lol. Like, if its a great song, none of the other noise will matter.

"Crying in the Club" was scrapped for the dual releases of "Havana" & "OMG". "Shameless" and "Liar" were dual released as well, which led to competing energy on the charts and made both underperform They really should have let "I Luv It" have a moment, tbh. They always do this "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" method.
