It's been way too long since I've updated this, so I'm slowly gonna share my Top 5 from each week this year! Wish me luck <3
Week of January 1, 2021
# |
| Song | Artist(s) | LW | Peak | Weeks | Note(s) | No. 1 |
| willow | Taylor Swift | = | No. 1 | 4 weeks
| 4 weeks at #1 | No. 2 |
| Ice Cream | BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez | +1 | No. 1 | 12 weeks
| 5 weeks at #1 | No. 3 |
| Lie Like This | Julia Michaels | +1 | No. 3
| 2 weeks | New Peak | No. 4 |
| champagne problems | Taylor Swift | RE | No. 2 | 3 weeks | —
| No. 5 |
| Mood | 24KGoldn feat. iann dior | NEW | No. 5 | 1 week | Hot Shot Debut |
The charts are a willow and they bend right to her wind as Taylor Swift's "willow" remains at the #1 spot for a fourth consecutive week, becoming her longest running #1 to date. It surpasses the lead single from her seventh album Lover, "ME!" which spent a total of three weeks atop the chart in May 2019. Below it and up one spot to #2 is BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez's "Ice Cream". The song previously reigned the charts for five weeks last year and has since spent 12 weeks on the chart. Meanwhile, Julia Michaels' disco-tinged "Lie Like This" reaches a new peak of #3 and Swift's "champagne problems" (which is also taken from her newly released evermore album), returns to the chart for a third week at #4, two spots shy of its #2 peak. Finally, 24KGoldn and iann dior's smash hit enters the chart for the first time at #5, being the only debut on this week's chart and thus earning the Hot Shot Debut award.

On a week full of new arrivals and re-entries, perhaps the biggest surprise is Olivia Rodrigo driving (and parking) her way to the #1 spot with her debut single, "drivers license". She earns the Hot Shot Debut award and becomes the youngest artist to reach the chart in doing so just as Dua Lipa and Angèle's #1 hit, "Fever", returns to the chart a few months after release at #2. Additionally, Rodrigo earns her second Top 5 entry on this week's chart with "All I Want", from the Disney+ sitcom High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, making its mark and landing at #3. Elsewhere, Zara Larsson's "Talk About Love" debuts at #4 and Lipa's "Levitating" featuring DaBaby returns at #5 after having previously peaked one spot higher upon initial release.

"Soy más fuerte sola" (English: "I am stronger alone"), sings Selena Gomez on this week's new #1 single, "De Una Vez", which acts as the lead single from her upcoming project. This statement rings true for Gomez, as she earns her first solo entry and highest charting entry of 2021, dethroning her BLACKPINK collaboration, "Ice Cream". It becomes Gomez's fifth chart topper, following "Lose You To Love Me", "Rare", "Boyfriend" and "Ice Cream". Additionally, she earns the highest play count for any #1 this year, with just over 100 plays within the week. Blocked from the #1 due to Gomez's reign is Ariana Grande's "34+35" featuring Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion at #2 and barely edges out last week's #1, Olivia Rodrigo's "drivers license" which crashes to #3. The remainder of the chart is static with Zara Larsson's "Talk About Love" at #4 and Dua Lipa's "Levitating" featuring DaBaby at #5.

| Best Friend | Saweetie & Doja Cat | NEW | No. 5 | 1 week | —
|
On somewhat of a mellow week, Selena Gomez's "De Una Vez" spends a second week at #1 while Taylor Swift's acoustic-pop smash "willow" returns to the chart in a big way at #2. Just below Swift is Olivia Rodrigo's "drivers license" repeating at #3 and two brand new entries at #4 ("My Head & My Heart", which also earns the Hot Shot Debut award on this week's chart) and at #5 ("Best Friend"). Ava Max and Saweetie earn their first ever entry on the chart while Doja Cat earns her third, following the #1 hit "Say So" and the #2 hit "34+35" with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion.

| My Head & My Heart | Ava Max | -1 | No. 4 | 2 weeks | —
|
There's no stopping her: Selena Gomez's duet with Rauw Alejandro, "Baila Conmigo" (which acts as the second single off her upcoming Revelación EP) dances its way to the #1 spot and thus earns Gomez her sixth chart topper. It also earns the award of being this week's Hot Shot Debut and dethrones her previous chart ruler, "De Una Vez", which falls one spot to #2. Remaining at #3 is Olivia Rodrigo's "drivers license", which has comfortably parked there for a third consecutive week after initially debuting at #1 earlier in the month. Facing a sizeable drop to #4 is Taylor Swift's "willow" while Ava Max drops one spot to #5 with "My Head & My Heart".
One month down, three to go!

Baila, Baila, Baila Conmigo — The second single from Selena Gomez's upcoming Spanish EP reigns supreme at the top of the charts for a second consecutive week. Just below it, Zara Larsson re-enters the chart with "Talk About Love", following the release of her solo version while Gomez's previous chart topper, the R&B-tinged "De Una Vez" stumbles one spot to #3. The remainder of the chart is once again stagnant, with Taylor Swift's #1 hit "willow" repeating at #4 and Ava Max's "My Head & My Heart" once again placing at #5.

Baby, just say yes: The re-recorded version of Taylor Swift's breakthrough single, "Love Story", makes history as it debuts at #1 and becomes her second chart topper this year, allowing her to match Selena Gomez as the artist with the most #1 singles (2 each) thus far. She also earns the Hot Shot Debut award and also earns her eleventh #1 since weekly plays have been tracked. Her previous #1 singles consist of "Me!" featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, "You Need To Calm Down", "Lover", "The Man", the Golden Globe and Grammy nominated "Beautiful Ghosts", "Christmas Tree Farm", "Macavity", "cardigan", "the 1" and "willow", making her the artist with the most chart toppers. At #2 and #3 are a pair of re-entries with Dua Lipa's "Levitating" reaching a new peak at #2 and Olivia Rodrigo's "drivers license" returning at #3. At #4 and #5 are Selena Gomez's "Baila Conmigo" and "De Una Vez", respectively, with both eyeing significant drops week-to-week.

Streaming her tonight, it's a bad idea right? Olivia Rodrigo scores a premature chart-topper, following a monumental year throughout 2021, during which she scored 5 #1 hits off of her debut album, SOUR, in "drivers license", "deja vu", "good 4 u", "enough for you" and "brutal". She subsequently scored 4 #1 singles through her role in the recently canceled High Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+ (though the less said about that, the better), one of which belonged to "The Rose Song", a Rodrigo-penned ballad in which she shows off her incredible vocal range. Her new release, "bad idea right?" from her upcoming sophomore album GUTS, becomes Rodrigo's eleventh song to reach the summit whereas her previous #1 single, "vampire", re-enters at #8.
Occupying the two spots below Rodrigo is another Disney starlet, though perhaps not one you would necessarily expect to see on this list. Bridgit Mendler debuts "Flowers", an unreleased song intended for her highly acclaimed 2016 EP Nemesis, at #2. Interestingly, she is the only ex-Disney act to chart a song titled "Flowers" this year. Coming in at #3 is a re-entry, "Cold", a song which Mendler previously teased (and charted at #2) in early 2021, re-entering due to the... release of the studio version. However, the song was in fact originally intended for release in 2017 as part of Mendler's second studio album, which has been pushed back since its tentative release date of 2015. Mendler seems to be the only artist capable of charting unreleased songs and will likely continue to do so, as a series of songs recorded for her fabled second album are expected to leak in the coming weeks, including "My Way", "Twisted" and "Deeper Shade of Us" from the 2015 iteration of her sophomore effort and "Oxygen" and "Loyalties" from the Nemesis sessions.
During a summer ruled by Swift, it's no surprise that her viral smash "Cruel Summer" re-enters at #4. Having entered at #2 upon its release in 2019 and spending a subsequent week at #6, the shimmering summer jam has been a looming presence ever since. However, while Swift may rule the music scene, the box office has been set on fire by the Greta Gerwig-directed, Margot Robbie-starring Barbie. Expectedly, the soundtrack has achieved similar success, seen in the #5 debut of "Dance The Night" by Dua Lipa. Featured in a memorable dance sequence, the track sees Lipa playing in a field she knows all too well and has come to master over the course of the past four years. Speaking of Margo Robbie, I, Tonya starlet Mckenna Grace graces the chart with her first-ever entry, "Casual Kisser", following the rave reception of her 2023 debut EP Bittersweet Sixteen. "Casual Kisser" serves as the lead single from her upcoming debut album, set for release in 2024. One spot down, Miley Cyrus earns her second chart entry with "Jaded", the third single from her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation.
The 1-2-3-4 punch of child stars led by Grace and Cyrus continue as Olivia Rodrigo charts previous leader "vampire", the lead single from GUTS, at #8 and as Selena Gomez charts her own previous leader global chart-topping collaboration with up-and-coming Nigerian artist Rema, "Calm Down", at #9. With her fourth solo studio album due out soon, she is expected to follow up a memorable 2021 in which she scored several #1 songs from her Revelación EP (5 to be exact, with "De Una Vez", "Baila Conmigo (with Rauw Alejandro)", "Selfish Love (with DJ Snake)", "Dámelo To’" featuring Myke Towers" and "Buscando Amor") and carried over her 2020 collaboration with BLACKPINK, "Ice Cream", to #2. Closing the chart, SZA scores her debut chart entry with "Kill Bill".

Can't two people reconnect? For the second consecutive week, Olivia Rodrigo secures the number one position on the chart with her newly released GUTS single, "bad idea right?", despite a 9% decline in plays. Meanwhile, Bridgit Mendler narrowly misses the pinnacle once again, as her tracks "Cold" and "Flowers" settle in at the second and third spots, respectively. "Cold" reclaims its prior position from 2021, reaching number two once again, while "Flowers" takes a slight step back to number three. Making a notable ascent, the track "Kill Bill" surges by six places to attain an all-time high at number four, boasting an impressive 150% surge in plays. This accomplishment also marks a significant milestone for SZA, granting her the distinction of achieving her inaugural Top 5 single.
Meanwhile, holding firm at the fifth position, Taylor Swift continues her pattern of well-timed resurgences. After her track "Cruel Summer" returned to the chart during the season it is named after, Swift's song "august," a memorable cut from her critically acclaimed and Grammy-winning album folklore, makes a return. The song had previously reached a peak of number three on the chart back on July 31, 2020. Just one step below, positioned at number six, Swift accomplishes another revival. Her recent chart-topping hit from Speak Now (Taylor's Version), titled "I Can See You (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" returns for a second week on the charts following a number one debut on the chart dated July 7, 2023.
Dua Lipa's hit song from the Barbie album, titled "Dance The Night", slips two positions since its debut last week, now landing at the number seven spot on the chart. On the other hand, Olivia Rodrigo's powerful track, "vampire", remains steady at the number eight position after re-entering the chart last week. The chart's standout performer in terms of growth is "Kill Bill", which has gained the most traction. Additionally, another viral track by SZA, titled "Snooze", manages to secure the number nine position, marking her second appearance on the chart. Wrapping up this eventful week's developments, Taylor Swift introduces her third song onto the chart. The lead single from her Midnights album, "Anti-Hero", which previously held the #1 position, , making its way back home from the graveyard shift at number ten.

Drop-out(s): Cold (No. 2) & Flowers (No. 3) by Bridgit Mendler, Kill Bill (No. 4) & Snooze (No. 9) by SZA. As anticipation builds for her upcoming release, Selena Gomez & Rema's undeniable "Calm Down" makes a triumphant return to the chart. The dynamic duo proves their unshakable dominance as they celebrate an astounding 7 weeks at #1. The remix that took the world by storm shows no signs of slowing down, almost one year following the collaboration's initial release. Meanwhile, "bad idea right?" slides gracefully into #2, as Olivia Rodrigo's melodic prowess continues to captivate listeners worldwide. Having held the crown before, this track's smooth descent only fuels the anticipation for what Olivia has in store on her upcoming LP, GUTS. One spot below, Rodrigo's "vampire" sinks its teeth into the #3 position, ascending an astonishing 5 spots to claim its place in the moonlight, thus earning her the Greatest Gainer award on this weeks ranking.
"All of The Girls You Loved Before" reemerges at #4, becoming the first of several Taylor Swift songs to appear on the chart this week. The nostalgia-packed tune makes a grand return, having previously peaked at #1 upon its release in March, earlier this year. "Dance The Night" propels itself up 2 spots to groove into the #5 position, igniting dance floors once more. Dua Lipa and Mark Ronson's infectious beats and vibrant energy lead the track to a re-peak, having debuted at its peak position before spending two consecutive weeks at #7. Placing one spot lower, Swift continues to weave her magic as "I Can See You (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)", from her recently released Speak Now (Taylor's Version), holds its ground at #6. Joining her Lover and Speak Now (Taylor's Version) cuts is her Midnights lead single, as "Anti-Hero" catapults to a mesmerizing #7 rank.

Drop-out(s): All of The Girls You Loved Before (No. 4) by Taylor Swift & People (No. 8) by Libianca. Bursting onto the scene at #1, the newly released "Single Soon" by Selena Gomez scores the biggest chart debut in history (366 plays), just barely surpassing the 2021 year-end chart topper "deja vu" (355 plays). The disco-infused pop cut replaces Gomez's own "Calm Down" (which she recorded alongside breakthrough Nigerian singer Rema), which ruled the ranking last week. Gomes scores her eleventh chart topper, joining "Lose You To Love Me", "Rare", "Boyfriend", "Ice Cream" (with K-pop sensation BLACKPINK), "De Una Vez", "Baila Conmigo (with Rauw Alejandro)", "Selfish Love (with DJ Snake)", "Dámelo To’" featuring Myke Towers, "Buscando Amor" and of course, "Calm Down". Her previous release, "My Mind & Me" (accompanying the documentary of the same name), appeared at #4 and charted for one week in November 2022.
Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus sits at #2, not with her newly released "Used To Be Young" (which sits at #13), but with "Jaded". The song soars seven spots from its prior placement at #9 to earn this week's Greatest Gainer award. Down one spot at #3 is "bad idea right?" by Olivia Rodrigo, continuing its solid run on the chart. Notably, the rock track is potentially gunning for the #1 spot on this year's year-end chart, currently sitting at the runner up position. With the release of GUTS imminent, it seems exceedingly likely that Rodrigo could double up on her year-end rulers. Dancing its way up the chart is "Dance The Night" by Dua Lipa, up one spot to a new peak of #4, stuck between a GUTS sandwich as "vampire" by Rodrigo places at #5, down from #3 last week.
The lower half of the chart begins with one of four Taylor Swift songs, with prior leader "I Can See You (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" repeating at #6 for a third consecutive week. "Calm Down" calms down six spots to #7, having re-entered last week to spend its seventh week at the top spot. "august" by Taylor Swift places at #8 as the month comes to a close, up a single position, while "Cruel Summer" re-enters at #9 and Midnights lead single "Anti-Hero" slots in at #10, down three spots.

Drop-out(s): Jaded (No. 2) by Miley Cyrus I know you'll be a mess when I break the news, as "Single Soon" by Selena Gomez repeats at #1 for a second week, despite being down at staggering 52% in spins (175 plays). Still, the song was able to maintain a distant lead from the #2 spot, where Griff, the 2021 BRITs winner for Breakthrough Artist, earns her third chart entry with newly released single "Vertigo", which she performed numerous times during the summer while on tour with Coldplay. Could she be headed for her first-ever #1 single in the coming weeks, or will Selena Gomez and several upcoming new releases hold her off for a while longer?
Speaking of new releases, the lead single off of Olivia Rodrigo's impending album GUTS, "vampire", ascends two spots to #3 and remains just another two spots shy of its #1 peak. Meanwhile, as summer comes to a close, the unexpected Taylor Swift sleeper hit "Cruel Summer" soars five spots to #4, earning this week's Greatest Gainer award. Another GUTS pre-release, "bad idea right?", places at #5, continuing its (mostly) steady run in the Top 5 as it drops two positions from its placement last week. With the release of the album set to have a massive impact on next week's chart, it remains to be seen whether or not the song can hold off "vampire" to earn a third week at the #1 spot.
A trio of Swift songs dominate the lower half of the chart, as "I Can See You (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" leads, repeating at #6 for a fourth consecutive week. Following the Speak Now (Taylor's Version) cut is Midnights lead single "Anti-Hero", soaring three spots to #7, as folklore gets a word in with "august" steady at #8. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Dua Lipa's "Dance The Night" is dealt a massive blow as it dwindles to #9, down five spots from last week's new peak. Closing out the rankings is yet another Selena Gomez release as she bookends the chart with "Calm Down (Remix)" down three spots to #10.

Drop-out(s): Vertigo (No. 2) by Griff, Cruel Summer (No. 4), I Can See You (No. 6), Anti-Hero (No. 7), august (No. 8) by Taylor Swift, Dance The Night (No. 9) by Dua Lipa, Calm Down (No. 10) by Rema & Selena Gomez. Guts explode onto the scene as Olivia Rodrigo's newly released sophomore album GUTS occupies nine of the ten spots on this week's chart, opening with previous #1 "bad idea right?" returning to the top spot for a third non-consecutive week as personal favorite "ballad of a homeschooled girl" opens at #2, becoming the highest-charting non-single from the album. Previous leader and Rodrigo's only peer, Selena Gomez, sees her single "Single Soon" fall from grace to #3. Though only four spins away from keeping the crown for a third week, Gomez sees a harsh 83% decline in spins (29 plays) which could spell bad news for the song's trajectory in the future. However, it is worth noting that during the last day of tracking, the song was made unavailable on any and all streaming services, potentially being the sole reason for its #3 placement. Rodrigo continues her domination throughout the remainder of the chart, placing the painfully relatable piano-led "logical" at #4 as GUTS lead single "vampire" slips two spots to #5. "making the bed" slides in at #6, whereas the viral ballad "the grudge" enters at #7. "pretty isn't pretty" places at #8, joined by "love is embarassing" at #9 and album opener "all-american bitch" at #10.

Drop-out(s): teenage dream (No. 6) and the grudge (No. 7), by Olivia Rodrigo. As the glory of GUTS begins to fade, Selena Gomez's anthemic single "Single Soon" continues to dominate the weekly ranking (up to a staggering 75 plays) for a fourth week. One more week leading the chart will bring "Single Soon" to a notable five weeks atop the chart, thus becoming the third song by Gomez to spend five or more weeks at the helm (joining 2020's BLACKPINK collaboration "Ice Cream" and the 2022 remix of "Calm Down" with Rema). Will Gomez be able to hold down the fort or will Olivia Rodrigo prove to be a contender?
Another noteworthy contender comes in Griff, whose resilient "Vertigo" climbs one spot to return to its peak of #2. Though the song has a long way to go before catching up to Gomez, the imminent release of its accompanying EP Vertigo Vol. 1 might be enough to push her over the edge. One spot below at #3 is previous leader and GUTS opening track "all-american bitch", down from #2 last week. Impressively, Rodrigo dominates the middle portion of the chart, though her most notable achievement this week might be the debut of two vinyl-exclusive songs off of her second LP, with the pop-rock banger "obsessed" at #4 and the bittersweet acoustic ballad "stranger" at #5. The singles from the project also score another week on the chart, as "bad idea right?" slips two spots to #6 and lead single "vampire" remains as immortal as ever, climbing to #7 in its thirteenth week.
Meanwhile, Fred Again and Obongjayar's sleeper hit quietly continues its modest ascent, up two spots to a new peak of #8 and earning this week's Greatest Gainer award, while Dua Lipa's "Dance The Night" spends a second consecutive week at #9. Occupying the very last spot is yet another track by Rodrigo, "get him back!", which re-enters, having previously debuted at #5.

Drop-out(s): stranger (No. 5), vampire (No. 7), and get him back! (No. 10) by Olivia Rodrigo, Adore You (No. 8) by Fred Again, and Dance The Night (No. 9) by Dua Lipa October kicks off with a notably unusual week in chart history. As anticipated, Selena Gomez's "Single Soon" retains its #1 position for the fifth consecutive week, even gaining more plays compared to the week prior. This achievement is significant, as it marks the third song by Gomez to spend five or more weeks at #1 and becomes her first solo release to do so. The intrigue continues with two scraps from SOUR, "astronaut" and "prison for life," debuting at #2 and #3. These songs bring a rougher, darker, and more playful tone compared to much of the final album. Additionally, Olivia Rodrigo's "stick season," a cover of Noah Kahan's song performed as part of her BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge set, makes a noteworthy debut at #4. The question remains whether any of these three songs will maintain their positions in the coming months, but at the very least Rodrigo continues to demonstrate impressive longevity with GUTS, released last month.
Selena Gomez secures a second entry on the chart as "Calm Down (Remix)" with Rema re-enters at #5 for the first time since the week of September 1, 2023, having been displaced by Rodrigo's GUTS. This influx of new debuts and re-entries spells trouble for Griff's "Vertigo," which drops four spots to #6, despite having recently returned to its peak at #2. Concluding the chart are several GUTS tracks, with "all-american bitch" also experiencing a heavy decline to #7, while the pop-rock track "bad idea right?" gracefully descends two positions to #8. Two deluxe songs make their mark, with "girl i've always been" debuting at #9, and last week's entry, "obsessed," plummeting to #10.

Drop-out(s): astronaut (No. 2), prison for life (No. 3), stick season (No. 4), all-american bitch (No. 7), girl i've always been (No. 9) & obsessed (No. 10) by Olivia Rodrigo and Calm Down (No. 5) by Rema & Selena Gomez Something strange happened this week. No, Olivia Rodrigo's "stranger" did not re-enter, nor did SOUR scrap "strange" and GUTS scrap "strangers again" make their debut. Instead, another Disney starlet makes her mark on this week's chart. A staggering eight tracks from Bridgit Mendler's unreleased second album, recorded under Hollywood Records, found their way onto the internet. Recorded throughout 2014 and 2015, Mendler was dropped from the label during the summer of 2015 due to a dispute over her song, "Undateable", which was recorded in order to promote her show of the same name. Her 2016 EP Nemesis and its three follow up singles were intended to lead to the release of her second album, though this remains an empty promise.
Now, upon its... release, the album makes a big splash on this week's chart and also causes a reinforcement of a rule that was established long ago: artists are now limited to a maximum of five entries each week.

Drop-out(s): "Timeless" (No. 4) by Bridgit Mendler, "scared of my guitar" (No. 8) and "bad idea right?" (No. 9) by Olivia Rodrigo. The calm before the sandstorm that is 1989 (Taylor's Version) is felt in some ways this week. Compared to the mass exodus last week due to the Bridgit Mendler album bomb, which wiped out seven songs, the departures this week are far more tame. Mendler switches out one song, "Timeless" (which charted at #4 last week), for another... which brings us to our Hot Shot Debut this week. "Coins in the Air" makes its chart debut at #1, becoming the second song from Mendler's album to reach the top spot. Meanwhile, another Skeleton cut, "I Fought The Love", soars three spots to #2. Interestingly, this marks Mendler's fourth song to be blocked from the top (and third this year alone), following the #2 debut of Nemesis scrap "Cold" in 2021, which was later joined by fellow Nemesis outtake "Flowers" in August of this year. Lastly, Mendler's third trip to the runner up position was last week's debut of Skeleton opening track, "How To Do", which lands at #5 this week. "Dedication" and "Deeper Shade of Us" land just ahead of it at #3 and #4, respectively.
The release of Griff's Vertigo Vol. 1 EP unfortunately did not do much to aid lead single "Vertigo", which remains stuck at the #6 spot for a second consecutive week. However, the second single from the extended play makes its debut at #7, that being the introverted ballad "Into The Walls". This notably pushes down "Single Soon", which scores its lowest streaming week yet. Rounding out the chart is two songs from Olivia Rodrigo's GUTS: lead single "vampire" skips ahead one spot to #9, whereas "get him back!" re-enters at #10, scoring a third charting week.

Drop-out(s): TBA
I got a hole in my pocket, I keep on losing my things, but following a slow ascent, Griff gains her first #1 with "Hole in My Pocket" from her upcoming debut album Vertigo. The song is one of several entries by her present on the chart this week, and knocks the previous leader, "Whoops", down to #2. With Vertigo due out this Friday, it seems almost guaranteed that her winning streak will continue. Meanwhile, just below the top spot, "Whoops" notably marks Meghan Trainor's first appearance on the chart since 2020, during which she charted "Nice To Meet You", a collaboration with Nicki Minaj off of her third album Treat Myself.
Further down, Griff charts her second hit, the "Vertigo", which soars three spots to #3, nearly replicating its #2 peak which was achieved over ten months ago. As the title track from her imminent album, it has showcased an impressive run, remaining in regular rotation and crossing twenty weeks on the chart. Meanwhile, two songs from Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department re-enter at #4 and #5, these being "The Tortured Poets Department" and "Fortnight" featuring Post Malone, respectively. The latter previously led the chart for two consecutive weeks upon release in April. At #6, Griff slips three spots with "Astronaut", an emotional ballad in which her enchanting vocals are joined by Chris Martin of Coldplay on piano. Re-entering at #7 is Alessia Cara's "Best Days", yet another emotional ballad which previously reached #1 in January 2022, following the release of a remix EP which included a version featuring Pentatonix.
Rounding out the chart is two entries from Olivia Rodrigo, who places her latest single "Obsessed" at #8, down sharply from #2 the week prior, and album cut "ballad of a homeschool girl" at #9. Bookending this week's rankings is a new entry, one from an artist currently on a hot streak: who else but Griff? "Anything" debuts at #10, earning the Hot Shot Debut title this week.

Drop-out(s): "Whoops" (No. 2) by Meghan Trainor, "Fortnight" (No. 4) and "The Tortured Poets Department" (No. 5) by Taylor Swift, "Astronaut" (No. 6) and "Anything" (No. 10) by Griff, "Best Days" (No. 7) by Alessia Cara, "obsessed" (No. 8) and "ballad of a homeschooled girl" (No. 9) by Olivia Rodrigo.
On a week dominated by the release of Vertigo, Alessia Cara’s new single "Dead Man" surprises and rises from the dead to launch at #1, edging out every track from Griff’s newly released album. Several deep cuts from Vertigo launch in the Top 5, including "Tears For Fun" at #2, which marks the highest debut from the album, and "Hiding Alone" at #3. The previous week’s leader, "Hole in My Pocket", slips three spots to #4 due to new releases and ranks above album track "So Fast" at #5, while lead single and title track "Vertigo" lands at #6, down two spots from last week.
The chart’s Top 6 is business as usual, featuring artists who have commonly appeared on the chart. The remaining four positions could be considered anomalies however, as two artists land their second entries, while three artists earn their first. Due to the release of her atrocious Woman’s World EP, Katy Perry belatedly charts her lead single, "Woman’s World", at #7. Each version received only one spin, but considering there were six versions, the song managed to place amongst a wealth of actual, worthwhile tracks. Mckenna Grace earns her second entry, via "Loser!!", at #8. The song is supposedly set to be featured on her upcoming debut album, following the release of two extended plays (EPs) in 2023. Following the release of The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), rapper Eminem charts lead single "Houdini" at #9. Closing out the chart is newcomer Lyn Lapid, alongside mxmtoon, with "back from the dead". Fitting, as the #1 song this week covers a similar topic, book-ending the chart with two songs that make for two sides of the same coin.
