Omg these updated predictions… I need Espresso to not get Greedy’d where it feels like a huge #1 but gets blocked at #3.

How? Is it gonna be Fortnight - Shaboozey - Million Dollar - Sabrina? Also, where did MDB come from? I think so. I guess MDB was heavily promoted on Tik Tok.

I actually think Espresso already feels way bigger than Greedy… most of my exposure to the latter came from radio. Already running into the former all over the place besides radio.

Kendrick released another Drake diss track called Euphoria. Could it chart solely off of YouTube?

Everytime I read Khia I feel like the argument gets dumber. No shade to Khia tho 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 LMAO the number of brain cells I lost reading that guy's Khia rants is far too many. I think it's time for a name change. 💀💀

Kendrick released another Drake diss track called Euphoria. Could it chart solely off of YouTube? Hmm, it has a lot against it as it is almost 7 minutes long. I feel like it is going to be a 1 and done for many people just to hear. Not sure how much replay it has in it. It was okay, I listened on my walk today during lunch.

I love "euphoria" but it is over 6 minutes which could hold it back chart-wise, but it is not like laid back most the track or anything, it does get hype quickly and stays hype. It is a killer track and diss. I am very curious to see how it does when it fully comes out chart wise.
For me the replay value is astronomical, haha.

These feud tracks usually only do well for the first couple of weeks so I think being 6 minutes isn't gonna hold it back unless it somehow gets radio traction, which is unlikely. I don't think the charts are a priority right now for Kendrick tho.

"Like That" did better than just the first couple weeks. You're right about Kendrick not prioritizing charts right now though, it is not likely this one will translate into as much of a hit as "Like That" has.

Like That went to radio and it's currently top 5 on two major formats (Urban and Rhythmic).

Now we’re getting very high hot 100 peaks solely off of “famous person x hates famous person y”. Ugh, at least make it a Bad Blood sort of vague thing that is a hooky hit sounding song first and foremost.

All the way to thinking every hit has to fit a hooky pop hit mold. Eugh.

Ugh, at least make it a Bad Blood sort of vague thing that is a hooky hit sounding song first and foremost. Actually the good ol' rap feud song was a lost art for a while there. It's made a comeback in recent years. Back in the 90s and 00s there were some iconic diss tracks and for a while around the 2010s the most noteworthy feud I can recall is Drake vs Meek Mill, which honestly Drake was never going to lose. According to Wikipedia we've had more diss tracks during 2024 than the rest of the decade combined lol, but their definition of diss track is kinda iffy ("Cry Me a River"? lmao). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_diss_tracks

Some great modern beefs.
Nas/Jay Z Eminem/Mariah Carey 50 Cent/Ja Rule Eminem/MGK
Eminem made some of the best diss tracks ever. Drake "Back To Back" also was bananas. I saw him do that in a concert at a local venue and the crowd was so loud and intense the building felt like it was completely shaking when that came on.

All the way to thinking every hit has to fit a hooky pop hit mold. Eugh. Well you’ll notice I didn’t say pop for a reason. Love all genres, but yeah there is way more to the art of hitmaking than “let me write lyrics about how I’m gonna drag this person.” And hitmaking is definitely an art, one that drives me bonkers when people try to discount. Thats why most of these diss tracks today fall off into oblivion so quickly, there’s not much involved in crafting the song beyond a personal iPhone notes rant. And once again, a legitimate hit has nothing to do with my personal opinion of a song. I do not decide what’s a flash in the pan on the hot 100 based on what I think of it, lest Tyrant by Bey would be at #1 for probably this whole year. And Like That seems to be holding well fwiw, but that’s not that surprising since it sounds like a big production that’s done well for far more reasons than just being “famous perosn x hates famous person y.”

This album bomb is still holding strong in the upper regions of the chart. I was expecting both Lovin On Me and We Can't Be Friends back into the top 10 :(

Wonder how big Kendrick will be next week 5/18 I feel it could debut for this tracking week, but it will be like a “Now And Then” type situation, like it goes from 78-10.

All these khias going ham with their TikTok promo right now, looks just like that scene in the Titanic where the band plays one last song together.
This is the last time the khias will have a randomly trending song before tiktok is banned. It’s now or never for them.

teddy, Benson, shaboozey, and richman all being top 3 with solo breakouts feels like a lot when we're barely finishing April. (espresso at least had feather as a predecessor in the top 40).
2023: Oliver Anthony 2022: Steve lacy, latto, gayle 2021: glass animals, olivia, Walker hayes 2020: n/a?

This is the last time the unknowns will have a randomly trending song before tiktok is banned. It’s now or never for them. Thinking we won't get viral unknowns charting ever again just because of a TikTok ban (that likely won't even be that effective), is almost exactly like thinking this wasn't going to happen again when Vine closed. There will always be something new that peopple gravitate towards and that causes people to suddenly blow up whether it's ringtones, YouTube, Vine, TikTok, etc. teddy, Benson, shaboozey, and richman all being top 3 with solo breakouts feels like a lot when we're barely finishing April. You forgot a couple 2023: Toosii, Bailey Zimmerman 2021: The Kid LAROI, Masked Wolf 2020: Roddy Ricch, Tones & I, Jack Harlow (WHATS POPPIN broke into the Top 10 as a solo hit before the remix), Morgan Wallen (7 Summers was his first Top 10 hit), Gabby Barrett (did break into the charts before the Charlie Puth remix)

toosie was not top 3, nor was bailey kid laroi's first hit appeared to peak at #8 with miley, masked Wolf was not top 3 what's Poppin went top 3 with the remix, tones and I was not top 3, 7 summers was not top 3, Gabby went top 3 with Charlie, Roddy rich already had ballin as a hit
So I didn't forget any of those; none of them apply.
