I got into a conversation in Emily Osment's latest single thread, and it got me thinking, what are some hit songs that your CHR seemed to just skip over?
My local CHR isn't monitored, so this is by ear, but in recent memory, my CHR has skipped over these CHR hits. Selena Gomez & the Scene - Naturally Rihanna - Hard (my pop leaning rhythmic whored it, but my CHR played it sparingly) Justin Bieber - One Less Lonely Girl (thank God) Michelle Branch - Goodbye to You (I had NO idea it was as big as it was until I looked at its position)
Alternatively, what are some songs that weren't very big that your local CHR whored out? Uncle Kracker - Smile Jason Mraz - Lucky Lifehouse - Halfway Gone Ashlee Simpson - L.O.V.E. Gwen Stefani - 4 in the Morning (I know it went top 20, but my CHR played like it was a top 5 hit.) Maroon 5 - If I Never See You Face Again (I still hear it on occasion) Maroon 5 - Won't Go Home Without You

My pop station whored out Matt White's "Love" a couple years ago. Everyone around here loved it, but I had no idea it was a colossal flop.
My station all but ignored "Empire State of Mind" last year. I was ticked about that, lol.

Skipped: Anything by Justin Bieber Whored: My station played Give Me a Sign by Breaking Benjamin like it was a current, probably since the DJ who always introduced them had such a hard on for the band. I also remember them playing Say Hey (I Love You) a lot even though it barely made the top 20.

The only thing I can remember my station playing a little too much is Hey Monday's How You Love Me Now like it was a Top 20 or Top 15 hit ala Paramore when in reality, it peaked at #37 on pop (right?).
Songs that were skipped for my station included the title tracks of both Kelly Clarkson's and Pink's recent albums (although I heard Funhouse at a Sonic's in Salisbury one night last year), Nickelback's This Afternoon, Orianthi's According to You, La Roux's Bulletproof, and....I'm sure there are some others. I just can't think of 'em right now.

^ (@ Au$tin) That's right. Either they played them while I was sleeping or they turned the other way as I happen to love both songs. I can agree with them not playing Bulletproof since it gets annoying after a while, but Orianthi....I can't understand. :-\

My CHR completely skipped over the entire Doll Domination era, including I Hate This Part and When I Grow Up (I only heard WIGU once or twice as part of a megamix).
They WHORE OUT all Eminem. They take whoring out to a whole nother level. Makes me sick.

My CHR whored the hell out of Boys Like Girls' "Heart Heart Heartbreak." They played it like 70+ times a week for multiple weeks. The reason is that they had them headlining their annual concert.
There's a local band called Finding Clyde whose song they are playing tons. It's at #72 nationally right now and they make up like half the spins at least.
The only songs I can think of that they sort of skipped are Justin Bieber's. They have played him some, but luckily not in high rotation.

Z100 never skips songs but they played Second Chance by Shinedown a lot less than they should have. As for flops that they whored out...basically every Cascada flop minus Pyromania. Also "Love is Gone" by David Guetta. They played Kat Deluna's "Whine Up" and "Run the Show" a ton too despite being flopz. My CHR whored 'Empire State of Mind' Duh. Ur CHR is Z100, and they're a New York station.

My local station's playlist is essentially a continuous loop of "Cooler Than Me" with randoms thrown into the mix every three to four hours (and by "randoms" I mean "I Like It" by Enrique Iglesias). It reminds me of why I stopped listening to radio so much in the first place: kant customize dat sh**.

^^^It did get kinda annoying but the most annoying thing Z100 has done of recent times is overplay Jason DeRulo and their refusal to ever let go of any of his songs

It's funny how so many of you mention All I Ever Wanted when it even wasn't a hit. It's more who played it at all than who skipped it.

Kiss 108 used to whore out a lot of AC-leaning tunes in the late 90's and early 00's, I guess to compete with the AC and HAC stations in the area. I remember hearing Sting's "Desert Rose" like it was a top-5 hit, and Nina Gordon's "Tonight And The Rest Of My Life", Don Henley's "Take You Home" and Fisher's "I Will Love You" as if they were all decent sized top-40 hits. That, and they made local hits of about three of four songs recorded by the MD himself, David Corey.
We also got Joey McIntyre's "Rain" and "L.A. Blue" played like they were top-40 hits.
I think the MD was also really good friends with Eliot Sloan of Blessid Union Of Souls: there was a ton of play for all of their 90s stuff, as well as "Storybook Life" (from 2001), "That's The Girl I've Been Telling You About" (follow-up to both "Standing At The Edge Of The Earth" and "Storybook Life"), and "I Want You" (his solo single).
I haven't listened to them in a while, but I know they overplayed "The Wind Blows" by the All-American Rejects for a while last year.

I mostly listen to Z100 streaming, but since I live in South Florida I'll use my local station Y-100.
WHORED: Right Round, Breakeven (they're still whoring it even now), I Made It, Bulletproof
SKIPPED: All I Ever Wanted >:( , Imma Be (never heard it, but I'm sure they added it), and lots more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Star 94's gotta be a Hot AC by now - if I hear If It's Love by Train one more time I'm gonna hurl...also likes to play Mockingbird, September, Smile by Uncle Kracker, The Man Who Can't Be Moved, Home by the Goo Goo Dolls, I Run To You by Lady Antebellum Majorly whored Wanted by Jesse James - still plays it as recurrent all the time Q100 really doesn't play anything too much - only songs they leave out are ones that Cumulus tells them too

Still bitter that KIIS and AMP skipped over Already Gone. It went top 5 and the only time KIIS played it was during the AT40. Those two stations ruined its chances of hitting #1 or even top ten on the Hot 100.

I believe KIIS and AMP also skipped over "Breakeven." Ridiculous. AMP is the worst station I think I've ever listened to.

But I also have one more - Kris Allen's Heartless. This station plays the song as if it was a #1 hit on ANY chart. I swear, in one day they play that song more times than they have EVER played Kayne's version. In terms of "skipping" - pretty much anything that has the slightest sound of rhythmic lean now. You know the songs that say "143/144 stations" like Love The Way You Lie and Dynamite? Guess who that station is? Other recent ones include OMG, Airplanes, Ridin' Solo, Whatcha Say, DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love, Rude Boy, Empire State of Mind, Break Your Heart (added it AFTER it had peaked and played a watered down version), Down, Replay... you get the picture.

^Yeah I think a year and a half ago Star 94 would be playin tracks like Dynamite, Airplanes, Ridin' Solo, Love The Way You Lie, etc. - they just went completely Hot AC over the past year - and they've stopped calling themselves a Top 40 station like they used to on the air
