Top 40 Pop Singles of the '50s Based on the weekly Pop charts of Billboard magazine. 31.Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart-Vera Lynn Dame Vera Lynn, who hit #1 in 1952 with "Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart", turned 100 yesterday. I wonder if this makes her the oldest living artist to have ever had a #1 Billboard hit, or the oldest such ever?

All the decade end charts always divide between 1950-1954 / 1955-1959 because of the "rock era" thing, but this one's fun because it's a mix of the pre-rock era hits too
