It was my favorite from the album... The remix is just okay, and the video is a cataclysmic crap.

I still haven't seen the movie. I still want to see Janet, but I'm hearing the movie is awful.

^ Find out for yourself. I actually liked it .... quite a bit more than I thought I would, actually. Some of the "poetry" parts were a bit jarring but I appreciated it because it was ringing true to the original play. It'll be interesting to see how it does for this weekend....and the weeks to come.

Janet was GREAT in the movie!!! LOVED IT She really held her own. I was proud :) Phylicia Rashad also gave a strong performance. It's amazing how you can feel emotion just by hearing her voice.

Opens with $20.1 million this weekend. There was no compelling reason for men to see this, so it did quite well all things considered - even though that is on the lower end of the spectrum of recent Tyler Perry debuts. It's yet another $20 million opening weekend for Janet.

Good opening for Janet, and from what I've seen, she does well with the material she's given. Like past Tyler Perry movies, wouldn't be surprising if it drops sizably from here on out.

The movie was great, my only complaint is that it was too short to tell all of the stories involved. However, the casting was excellent. I love the depth in Janet's voice, she wasn't my favorite but she held her own. Whoopi was crazy but still entertaining. I was glad there were laughing moments. I just wish the plot was more develop and the women's stories had been a little better. I did enjoy it. I want to see it again soon. I loved the poetry piece and the ending was uplifting, "my love is too blank to be thrown back in my face", now I loved that expression. It is sad how realistic this film is and I did not see any disrespecting to men. It just simply told a tale of women from all different levels can suffer but still manage to live.

FCG follows the standard Tyler Perry formula, where all women are either victims or maniacs and men are either total assholes, cads or lunatics (Hill Harper's character excepted). FCG should have been directed by someone who knew what they were doing, such as Kasi Lemmons who helmed Eve's Bayou, or even Lee Daniels.

The stage play was about women and their issues with MEN. There was no way to make a movie out of theplay and make it into some kind of light hearted fairytale. He did what was required with the material it was based off and Lee daniels probably would have made the story even grittier than Tyler. People just have an issue with Tyler Perry when in fact he did a decent job. Of course a more experienced director probably would have done better but thats the case with any film but the content of the women having issues and the men being the cause of their issues would not have changed because thats the concept of the play.

What's up next for Janet? Will she be working on a new album or doing another movie?

she said she is going into the studio and playing around and taking her time. Maybe something next year as far as music. She says she has other things on the horizon but cant say yet becase nothing is set in stone.
Basically, she will be MIA again until next year.

People do have a problem with his directing but I enjoy most of his films. He knows his audience and that is why he is so successful. I wish critics were not so harsh on his films though and it seen that his popularity has been his up and down in this industry to gain respect. However, I respect his work and continuing passion with empowering women in his film. It is no wonder why he chooses to produce of such because he was raised by two women and those are his inspirations. Nevertheless I hope he does step out of his comfort zone and explore other fields of directing.

So, is "True You" really coming out in January? Seems like there would be a firm date by now....

Janet has expressed interest in doing something on Broadway- a dream that she doesn't plan on letting go of, so we'll see if that turns out to be something in the immediate future.

I wasn't suggesting the plot be changed, I was simply stating it follows his typical pattern. I'm sure it appealed to him as a project because topically it was very much within his comfort zone: women victimized by triflin' men. Of course he had to suck most of the subtlety out of it and add his usual brand of heavy-handed melodrama. Anyway, this winds up with $19.4 million - it was overestimated by $700k.

Nevertheless I hope he does step out of his comfort zone and explore other fields of directing. This was certainly his best directed film. It looked like an actual film with real cinematrography and attention to detail, as opposed to most of his other works, where the camera appears to be pointed in any random direction and there is no sense of skill evident on screen.
