The Announcement Is Coming!Posted by Nashville Narc in Shania Twain We are only about three weeks away from what I'm hearing is the big announcement from Shania Twain. We told you guys a few weeks ago about that day we had 10+ emails about this so called annoucement and we had no clue why. Well it seems like it may just have been something after all. My sources are telling me that we can expect an announcement soon with details regarding the new album that MAY have a spring release date! Not much longer to wait. NashvilleNarc.com

Is she really coming out with a new album? I always thought she/her label was afraid to put out a new one because it wouldn't sell as much as in the past. Not to mention that as great as her songs are, she's very one sided and the country-pop might not be in fashion anymore.

Perhaps next year we could call it "Shania Twain - TBA - 2010" ???

IF there is anything, it will have been 7 years since the last new material
Album sales have been cut in half since then. Also, fans of Shania Twain back then, may have moved on.
Both of those will be reasons we see expectations for the album that are being posted here and how the public actually embraces new material be 2 completely different things

In May of 2008, it's announced that Shania is splitting up with her husband of 14+ Years...who also happens to be just about the only Producer she's worked with since 1994? 1995? Under the widely known circumstances, a year (or more) delay is understandable. Had nothing happened in 2008 to deter the writing/recording of the album, Shania probably would not have released a New cd until the End of 2008 anyway.

New Music From Shania?
Shania Twain will make an announcement about a new album during the latter part of the week of Jan. 26, according to several sources.Shania recently remarked that she has been busy writing songs for a new record. "That's consuming a lot of my time right now," she noted. Shania added that she was working especially hard on lyrics, because "I want to be as true to myself as possible." This past year, Shania split from her husband and producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange after 14 years of marriage. Her Come on Over CD is the best-selling album in country history with sales of more than 20 million copies in the U.S. and more than double that amount worldwide. Country Weekly

The following was posted today by kevin59 in the Shania thread in the Country section: UPDATE! New Music From Shania? Record label says no new album from Shania Twain coming soon. Although several sources revealed on Wednesday, Jan. 21, that Shania Twain will make an announcement about a new album during the latter part of the week of Jan. 26, a spokesperson from her record label, Mercury Nashville, contacted Country Weekly magazine late on Thursday, Jan. 22, to say that there would be no announcement of new Shania music any time soon. Obviously, Shania's legion of fans--and the Country Weekly staff--are still hopeful that it won't be too long before she releases a new CD. But, for now, we will all have to wait for the label's announcement. Source: Country Music Weekly
I apologize for my part in helping spread the false hope of possible news. After 10 days of rumors without an official denial and the new, more specific announcement date given by "Country Weekly," there was some hope that the announcement would happen. ...but it's not going to happen, at least not yet. Maybe the next rumor will turn into real news... :) Once again, I apologize.

I for one got excited about the rumors, so keep them coming as long as they seem reliable.

What I'm wondering is who's going to produce this? Are her & Mutt going to continue their professional relationship?

Shania is in the latest issue of MORE Magazine (Canadian). She is one of the "Top 40 Over 40 Superstars".

However, a long time between albums tends to erode a fanbase.

However, a long time between albums tends to erode a fanbase. Shania Twain waited 5 years between albums at some point, and it didn't even affect her sales or her concert selling factor. She filled arenas regardless. Like I said, Country music fans have always been extremely loyal to her. She and Reba could put out anything, or wait decades in between and I don't think it would make much of a difference.

However, a long time between albums tends to erode a fanbase. I dont think, with her case anyway, if theyre fans theyll be excited for her return, sadden by her divorce, and interested in her comeback. If the singles/album is good Im sure the fanbase will be right back. Its not like she had some horrible flop and was a train wreck.. I dont see a reason why they wouldnt be.
