Not a whole lot of movement within the countdown, with only one song moving more than five notches up or down. The exceptions are the one new entry moving up at least seven to debut at #34, and the lone dropper falling right off from #28.

Weird that they would make Flo Rida the 2 for 1 artist, and put his extra after the Olly Murs song on which he's featured at #29. More often they've put that feature in the top 10, where FR has a hit all to himself.

Three weeks ago (1/26/13) they paired "I Cry" with "Club Can't Handle Me". So this makes even less sense; there are plenty of other artists in the countdown with previous hits that could have been thus highlighted.

Occasionally, the final segment will be the top 3 instead of the top 2. This is one of those weeks.

A quick Wikipedia check (I know, not the most official of sources) tells me that both of those songs predate the RIAA certification era. So, I guess, that would be the caveat.

We continue extremely slow chart weeks lately. And they're favoring "on the verge" songs over breakouts. They should have 2 breakouts per week. There are 9 songs in the lower half that are over 20 weeks old. This chart definitely needs some rejuvenation.
Unusual to have a non-optional extra in the top 5. A very different sound for Nelly, and too bad that Give Me Your Hand doesn't have much future.
Katharine McPhee was on briefly to promote Smash. Dismal ratings for its 2 hour season two
premiere a couple of weeks back.
