Welcome to my thread! Here you can read about the most recent chart in the JW50, look at old charts, view quarterly, year-end, and other countdowns, and read about the chart methodology. :) {Methodology/Rules}When I first started the chart, it was the JW40, meaning there were only 40 positions. This lasted for the first full year, until I changed to 50 positions and renamed it the JW50. The chart first started out with every (current-ish) song eligible to chart. This meant non-singles could chart, but I limited songs to only recently released album tracks (past year or so) and only current singles as well. However, this made my chart an absolute MESS, especially in Q4 of 2012, so I made the change to official singles only beginning in 2013, after 6 months of allowing album tracks to chart. I did not immediately purge all album tracks from my chart, as that would have been another huge mess. Instead, the remaining album tracks could no longer gain, and only decrease. A few were dropped every week, with the last album track ("In My Head" by Loreen, #1 the week of 12-30-2012) dropping off on the 02-17-2013 chart. Note that official singles include songs that are top 50 on a genre airplay chart, released as a stand alone single on iTunes, promo singles, and the like. Starting with the 08-03-2014 chart, I started to allow songs that received a music video to chart, even if they haven't been pushed as a single or a true promo single. {Points}When the JW50 started, the points system was very simple. It was just an inverse points system. #1 got 40 points for the week, #2 got 39, ... , #39 got 2, and #40 got 1.
This later switched to a triangular points system, which is still simple, but more complicated. #40 got 1 point, #39 got 3 points (1+2), #38 got 6 points (1+2+3), ... , #3 got 741 points (1+2+3+...+36+37+38), #2 got 780 points (1+2+3+...+37+38+39), and #1 got 820 points (1+2+3+...+38+39+40). There were 2 reasons for switching points systems. First, I liked songs at the bottom of the chart pretty similarly to one another, whereas songs at the top were generally further and further apart from one another. The triangular points system allowed me to fit points more like how I feel. Second, I wanted my chart to somewhat mirror that of a sales chart. Just like with the triangular points, a sales chart has large gaps between songs at the top, with smaller gaps between songs at the bottom. However, just like with the inverse points system, there was one problem still left to fix. With inverse, I supposedly liked song #1 40x as much as song #40. With the triangular points, I supposedly like #1 820x more than #40. Not true at all. To accommodate for this, I added a set number of points to every song every week. This ended up being 100 points. A nice even number, it also gave #40 101 points, and #1 920 points. I wanted #1 to be about 10x as many points as #40, and 9.11x is pretty close, while allowing for a nice even number of points being added to every position.
When I switched to a 50 position chart, I kept the same points system. Now, #50 got 1 (1), #49 got 3 points (1+2), #48 got 6 points (1+2+3), etc. However, the top 10 went beyond the points boundaries from before. #3 got 1176 (1+2+3+...+46+47+48), #2 got 1225 (1+2+3+...+47+48+49), and #1 got 1275 (1+2+3+...+48+49+50). Adding 100 points gave #1 13.61x the points of #50, so I added 150 instead. This gave #1 9.44x as many points as #50, very close to the 9.11x ratio before, and also still keeping a nice even number, 150. To accommodate the older charts for having less points, all those weeks got a 1.55x multiplier to points, giving #1 1426 points and #50 156.55 points. These numbers were very, very close to the new numbers, and ended up not changing certifications at all. Either 0 songs were changed, or only 1, and it was just a TINY difference. It worked out better than I could have hoped.
Recently, I started applying a weekly points multiplier. This multiplier varies week to week. Note that the multiplier only affects the triangular points each week, not also the base 150 points added to every song. This means that a 2.5x multiplier would only raise #50 from 151 to 152.5, where as #1 would be raised from 1425 to 3337.5. {Certifications}Certifications were originally not a part of the JW40. However, they were added in, I believe before the switch to the JW50. At the time of implementation, I believe the inverse points system was in place. The threshhold for Gold was the point equivalent of 1.5 weeks at #1, Platinum 3 weeks at #1, 2x Platinum 6 weeks at #1, etc. This correlates to 60, 120, 240, etc. points. When the points switched to triangular, it took the same number of weeks at #1, in points, for certifications, but caused new points required to get there. They were 1380, 2760, 5520, etc. When the chart became the JW50, the points required changed again, but not the weeks at #1, and since the old points received a multiplier, almost no certifications were changed, if any. I believe it was none, but may have been 1 song that had been right at the threshold of certification. The new points became 2137.5, 4275, 8550, etc. As things are now, with the weekly multiplier system in place, it takes the points equivalent of 2.5 weeks at #1, 5 weeks at #1, 10 weeks at #1, etc. to reach Gold, Platinum, 2x Platinum, etc. Note that these are weeks at #1 without a multiplier.
Note that points and certifications have been retroactively applied to all charts, and changed to meet the current points and certification standards.

Week of 07-08-2012Not much info for this week since it's the first week. You will have to excuse the craziness that are my first weeks (and even currently). I felt compelled to chart certain older songs because I loved them so much, but waning off them now. So lots of crazy movement, and even now there are some random (relatively) older songs on there, but they're slowly going away. :) Anyways, my first chart!!! :'( "Call Me Maybe" is my first #1, and definitely a great, memorable one! If I had started this sooner, CMM would definitely have had several more weeks atop the chart to add to its belt. Instead its #1 run is shortened, but oh well. It looks like it's going to have great longevity with me. :) TW01 “Call Me Maybe” Carly Rae Jepsen 1 week at #102 “I Am Your Leader” Nicki Minaj feat. Week of 07-15-2012Carly Rae's 2nd week atop the summit. Sadly, her last. Would have had at least 6 with a full chart run. :) "Titanium" breaks into the top 3, while Rihanna drops 3-4 and simultaneously rises 6-5. :) Dropping off the chart were several songs that were peaked/peaking, or I had loved and given them some charting time so they could drop off, haha. Week of 07-22-2012This week I had my 2nd #1 song hit #1, Nicki Minaj's "I Am Your Leader." It is also my first #1 album track, although it recently has been announced as a single. Yay!! Expect it to start climbing again starting in a few weeks when I finally get to hear it on the radio! Rihanna's "Cockiness" would have hit #1 had I started sooner, but a #3 peak isn't too bad for a song that came out almost a year ago and is no longer played repeatedly. It possibly could be a single as well, so if it is, expect it to have a resurgence as well. Elsewhere in the top 5, "Lights" climbs 6-4 and "Good Time" climbs 7-5, making Carly Rae the first artist on my chart to have 2 top 5 songs consecutively, and soon she will most likely be the first artist to have 2 #1 songs as well! :) The top debuter of the week is No Doubt with their first new music in a looong time, "Settle Down." :) LW TW PP WOC02 01 01 003 “I Am Your Leader” Nicki Minaj feat. Week of 07-29-2012This week, "Titanium" moved 2-1 to the summit, while #s 2 ("Lights") and 3 ("Good Time") both moved up 2 spots to make up the top 3. My chart will be crazy soon, with several songs fighting for a spot at the top. Both Nicki and Carly Rae are going to fight for their 2nd #1s, while Kanye, Karmin, and One Direction will fight for their first. Karmin's "Hello," recently announced as a single, will probably be a #1 contender as well, so they could end up with 2 #1s shortly! :) 2 debuters: #39- Drake's "HYFR" and #40- Beyoncé's "Dance for You." My local urban-leaning rhythmic station looooves them some Drake. I never cared for him much, but found his parts decent on songs like "Moment 4 Life" and "What's My Name?" Then came "The Motto" and now I suddenly love "HYFR" and "Crew Love" after having heard them thousands of times already haha. This station also loves Beyoncé, having played "Love on Top" and even "Countdown" a lot, but I haven't heard "Dance for You" yet. Hopefully they start to play it as well, because if not, I don't see much life for the song on my chart. LW TW PP WOC02 01 01 004 “Titanium” David Guetta feat. yawn "Titanium". I used to love it but I'm just totally sick of it now. Good climb for "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)"! Any reason why "Brokenhearted" is rising so late?

Um. It's mostly rising because other songs are falling quickly. Lol. My chart is still getting rid of the older songs so it's not really "normal" yet haha.

Week of 08-05-2012The top 3 remain stagnant this week, with "Titanium" gathering its 2nd week at the top. "I Told You So" moves 5-4, while "Hello" is also the top debuter of the week, at #31. Week of 08-12-2012The top two songs switch this week, allowing "Lights" to be on top. Meanwhile, "Settle Down" climbs 8 positions to #9. This is the quickest climb to the top 10 on my chart (4 weeks), but that's very likely to change once Ke$ha and Gaga start releasing new music. Maybe even Rihanna! The lone debuter is Big Time Rush's "Windows Down" It's a fun little song that I'm starting to enjoy. It's now top 40 on pop, so there's a chance it could be a hit! Not counting on it, though. Week of 08-19-2012"Titanium" returns to the summit for its final week (happy Slizzard? ) as "Lights" tumbles 1-5. "Good Time," "Mercy," and "I Told You So" all inch up one position. The top debuter is "Cantaloupe" by The Cataracs at #30, with Demi's current single debuting at #40. The chart overall this week has a lot of upwards movement.
