Only seven spotlight songs, probably because that's all there have been in the past (but they could have spotlighted a few ones from the 1980s, since country music crossed over onto the pop chart in the early half of the decade. Maybe they're saving that for the next time they use this spotlight theme)
Looks like Martina McBride could fall off the AT10 chart naturally, since "This One's For The Girls" falls down to #9. Of course, it probably won't happen within the next few weeks, especially next week, since "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" will be shipped off to recurrentland then. Plus, Dido could fall go recurrent on the R&R chart anytime, since she's been on for over a year. All she needs to do is to fall out of the top five and she's history. Anyway, it looks like whoever predicted Martina's new song "In My Daughter's Eyes" to suffer recurrent-itis from TOFTG may have been wrong, since that song is on its way up, moving 9-7.
Most other weeks that would be the biggest jump of the week, but a few spots above her is the song that takes that title this week. Keith Urban's song "You'll Think Of Me" moves ahead from 8 to 5. Looks like that could be the next number one song after "Heaven", since the songs in between it are pretty much done, although Five For Fighting is regaining a little bit. Besides, they've all been to number one. YTOM will be the next NEW number one song after "Heaven" - if it makes it, but I have a feeling it will.
Pretty good selection of AT10 Archive songs, with at least one song from each decade. Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way" is featured for the second time this year, but the first time (this past summer, I believe), they played the studio version of the song. This week, it was the live version. And they sure liked 1981 (which seems weird for Premiere, given the AT40 Flashback situation two years back), since they played three songs from that year. Three good songs, I might add. And they played the entire version of "Take It On The Run". Most AC stations that play that song cut out most of the guitar solo. Too hard-rock sounding, I guess.
Two live songswere featured this week. The aforementioned Peter Frampton song and the Eagles' "Hotel California". I was glad Casey mentioned that the song was from 1994, or I would have had to guesstimate the year (I probably would have said 1994), since the song's not really from any year. It's an album cut from "Hell Freezes Over" that several AC stations that I listen to play instead of the original version from 1977. Probably because the live version isn't quite as long. In the original version, the guitar solo at the end lasts and lasts. But it's still a great song. So is the live version.
Only one Long Distance Dedication this week. Whatever...
Well, I'll be back next week with the AT10 lowdown. What will be the spotlight that week? I'm thinking that one they'll use in the near future is songs about friendship ("That's What Friends Are For", "You've Got A Friend", "I'll Be There For You"... you catch my drift, right?)
EDIT: I just realized something. "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" should have dropped off the chart this week, since on the corresponding R&R chart, it went recurrent. Looks like AT10 might have gotten a new recurrent rule, just like AT40.
