The only people that could make this award show better would be Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Spears. Great lineup nonetheless. Hope Adam Lambert forgets to be invited.

Carrie and Lady Antebellum need to perform. I'd prefer themroot canal surgery without anesthesia to TaylorMiley. seriously. Corrected. No need to thank me. But seriously, why is Miley performing??? Her latest album flopped bigtime in the US. Carrie and Lady A I can understand.Unless they still want to pander to the nonexistent Disney album buying segment?

Trey Songs, Christina Milian ???, John Legend, and Keri Hilson have been added to the lineup. They all will be presenting, not performing. Presenters: Nicki Minaj Willow Smith Trey Songz Christina Millian John Legend Keri Hilson Mike Posner Natasha Bedingfield Seal Taio Cruz I never said they were performing. ???

Carrie and Lady Antebellum need to perform. I'd prefer them to Taylor. seriously. Carrie just recently did an interview before a concert of her's this past week, and she confirmed that she won't be attending this year. Lady A is still up in the air, but I'll be stunned if the AMAs completely block off all Country talent from this year's awards show.

The chick who just performed at the ACM's, got a #2 "Country Song" and got a number 1 "Country Album". I guess they thought having Tay peform was enough country

I guess they thought having Tay peform was enough country Except she's more pop than country... She is still a country artist. Country radio still plays her songs, she get's nominated for Country awards, and is still seen as a Country artist(along with pop). Her songs maybe more pop then country but she is still considered a country/pop artist. Same way as Shania or the same way as Beyonce is a pop/r&b artist. It doesn't matter really, I do hope the AMA's add some more country acts to the line up. Lady A have had a huge breakout year so hopefully they'll get a spot. Carrie would have had a great performance but she's not attending. Sugarland, Rascal Flatt, Keith Urban, or Reba would be nice too.

I think it's sad that, so far, there is no representation of Country music other than Taylor. I mean, Country music is huge and probably attributes to a massive part of their ratings. Taylor is certainly not the best representation of the genre. No one can even decide which genre she's in??? :/
I would love Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Reba, Miranda, Lady A, etc. Something that's more representative of Country music. Lady A had a huge crossover, but clearly that faded quick.
I would have loved Carrie, but she's gotta rest having been on the road all year and fresh off hosting duties at the CMAs. I think she might still win Country artist though...

They just announced Enrique, BEP and Train They'll either do "Hey, Soul Sister" or "If It's Love". I'd say "Marry Me", but that's just not AMA material. Carrie just recently did an interview before a concert of her's this past week, and she confirmed that she won't be attending this year. Ugh...I still don't understand why certain people insist on classifying Taylor as a pop singer when she's clearly been the most successful in the country genre. Like it or not, she's a country artist first and foremost.

Like it or not, she's a country artist first and foremost. Ho do ya figure? Sure she's had success in Country music, but that started fading as soon as 2010 came along. The lead single off her one-week million seller failed to make it to #1 on the Country charts. One would think that if she can sell 1million+ albums in a week, she can surely score a #1 with the album's lead single on the Country charts simultaneously. Unless, of course, the majority of her fan base is no longer the Country audience. That's my interpretation of it, but it's just an opinion. I just think people feel that Country music could be more accurately portrayed at the AMAs. Taylor is cute and has great songs, but I don't think she's the best artist out there to represent Country music.

Damn I didnt know you country fans are so elitist on what is and isnt country.....
Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood and the like...its all f**king country pop, why give Taylor the short end of the stick?
This shit reminds me of hipsters stating what is and isnt indie. Its just a freaking genre.

Ugh...I still don't understand why certain people insist on classifying Taylor as a pop singer when she's clearly been the most successful in the country genre. Like it or not, she's a country artist first and foremost. Hardly. Not trying to start a fan war in here, but saying Taylor Swift is the most successful in the country genre is a big stretch. Taylor is a Pop-Country singer, and I ordered those 2 genres in that order because she's more Pop than she is the latter. If anyone who didn't know what genre Taylor Swift was picked up her latest album (not that there would be anyone out there like that seeing as the girl is a monster in the industry), I can guarantee you nearly a full 100% of the people would say Pop. Maybe Adult Pop, but Country just doesn't fit her music. Yes, there's others that could be classified in the same line as her's (note some of Carrie's recent releases: "Undo It", "Cowboy Casanova", Lady Antebellum's release of "Need You Now", and most of Keith Urban's music), but Taylor Swift has revolutionized her own genre (in a weird way). I'm not devaluing the success she's had in Country music in any way, shape, or form. I'm simply saying that labeling her material as Country seems silly since there's not a fiddle to be found in her latest release. Damn I didnt know you country fans are so elitist on what is and isnt country..... Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood and the like...its all f**king country pop, why give Taylor the short end of the stick? This s**t reminds me of hipsters stating what is and isnt indie. Its just a freaking genre. It's not just that. It's a genre that's enjoyed by many that is rapidly losing its credibility because of the Pop music that it's transitioning into. The artists I would've least expected to change their ways have, and they needed to because of the sudden takeover, including Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, and even Reba McEntire. I think Taylor's being considered Pop more and more because her music is getting remixed into numerous different versions to get more and more spins. That's resulting in Pop awards nominations, including last year's AMAs (won Pop/Rock Female), as well as last year's Grammys (nominated for Female Pop Vocal). If Lady A, Carrie, Keith, or any of the other bajillion other Country-gone-Pop artists were considered that "Poppish", then they would've been along the same route as Ms. Swift. I'm not trying to give her the short end of the stick. Her music speaks for itself, and that's what's making her crossover so much.

Why are people saying she's "this" or "that"... all country music is these days is pop music with an accent in most situations. The only difference is it's played on two different formats.

Can I just say that I've been really impressed with the AMA's these last few years, and really disappointed with the VMA's. When I was younger the VMAs were the musical event of the year for me, but now the AMAs are a million times better. VMAs seem to be concerned with stupid little skits and dramatic ploys these days.

The AMAs are a hot mess. There are so many performances and so much going on. The VMAs are clearly better produced.
Just going by last year where Timbaland and Adam Lambert gave some of the worst primetime musical performances I`ve ever seen and from the almost 20 performers, I may remember 5 while I have a pretty good idea what happened at the VMAs.
