Wait, so this premiers today @ 3PM in two hours or tomorrow at 3PM? Because when answered at 3AM it could mean two different things. I'm glad people are following suit with GaGa when it comes to re-releases.. That means a new trend and a lot more material from our favorite artists :) Re-releases are not a new trend.

This format that they are releasing it (many new tracks, separate EP, Deluxe 2-disc LP) most definitely is, and Gaga popularized it.

Releasing a new album and calling it a "re-release"? Yeah, I guess that's new then. I think it's kind of dumb. Just make it a new album.

Basically the fans who didn't buy the album yet have a chance to purchase all her material so far and those who bought it could just purchase a seperate E.P. I think it will help maximize her sales like it did for GaGa.

The new release type is making us change our vocabulary, I think. It isn't REALLY a completely new album era so I feel weird saying this will be her sophomore album era especially since it will be compiled with Animal in most places. It isn't just a simple re-release either. It feels like we need a word for something that is in-between re-release and new cd.
I actually like this type of release even though some people are still against it. I like that we get more new music faster. Having 20+ new songs in the first year or two of release is just fine with me and then hopefully we will get a "real" new album in the next 1-2 years.

I just feel like in the old days Gaga, Kesha and Usher would have tacked a few extra tracks on and called these re-release EP things new albums. For all we know we could have got even more new music if this were pre digital age.

Eh, I don't really agree. I don't think Gaga would have pushed out another completely different 12-15 song cd before Paparazzi even dropped down the airplay charts and less than a year after the Fame being released. That wouldn't have maximized sales and would have burned her out even faster. Except for maybe Rihanna, not even the boybands/Britney were pushing out full-length cds less than a year from one another even back in the day when releases were being churned out really fast. If this was pre-digital, Kesha probably would have released another single from Animal to boost holiday sales, took a month or two off, and then we would have a summer cd for her sophomore album. I like getting more new music 8-9 months after a cd is released because I am greedy

I like getting more new music 8-9 months after a cd is released because I am greedy Well The Fame and The Fame Monster were released 15 months apart and there have been plenty of times when albums were released at a faster pace than the late 90s. As far as I can tell, the frequency artists released music started slowing down in the mid-90s, when mega-eras like Jagged Little Pill and Cracked Rear View became the industry holy grail, and have only recently started speeding up. Half arsed vague sort-of re-releases seem like a typically lazy music industry way of satisfying demand for more frequent music without putting in too much effort. Although if they really do mean we're getting more music than we would otherwise I'm all for it. I'm just saying it's impossible to know either way.

Wasn't The Fame in October of 2008, and The Fame Monster in Nov. 2009? That's 13 months, not 15.

^ In other countries. USA was October 28th-ish Well since we apparently can use whatever release date we want to compare the length of time in between albums, "The Fame" was released on May 20th, 2009 in Japan and The Fame Monster was released in Japan on November 18th, 2009. Damn. She released a new album only 5 months after her debut. She is a hit machine.

Well isn't it only relevant to use the USA release dates and compare them to each other, when discussing how much time was between her US releases? I believe common sense/proper logic is on the side of that argument.

I believe common sense/proper logic is on the side of that argument. Uh not really, because an album could have been released in the UK in 1973 and another in 1975 but never got a US release, then the label decided to release them both in the US a few weeks from each other in 1986. Doesn't mean they released two albums only weeks after each other. Aside from that, you were the only one limiting the topic to the U.S. release.

He was limiting to for a reason. People would (and have) given a million different dates for the album release. It makes sense since she is releasing it in the US first. Jesus.

No. You take the earliest release date. THAT makes sense. "The Fame" was released on August 19th 2008, "The Fame Monster" was released November 18th, 2009. EDIT: wow would you look at that, Wikipedia agrees with me. Sorry that my perception of release dates is so correct.

I can't at the title. What is everyone's problem with correct grammar in pop music these days? IKR. It's so annoying. Toys R Us came to mind. Anyways: I really like her & enjoyed 3 outta 4 of the Animal singles. Sooooo...I'm pretty excited for this. I lol'd.
