I can't think of a time when this much female artists dominated the charts at the same time. All of them aforementioned have proven they can either move albums or have huge hits. Katy has proven she is no GaGa pushover and avoided the sophomore slump with her biggest hits yet. Lady GaGa proved she has the talent to back up her theatrics and is racking up awards here and there. Ke$ha, well, let's just thank the gays she has a career. Taylor is still selling more than the top ten combined when people swore the fad was over. RiRi still snatching #1's the way Bey was handed her Grammys :kii: And Britney and Bey, while the oldest among the group, still proves that they can still play with them n00bs. Let's not forget SuBo, who sells millions while feeding her cats. So who do you guys think belongs in the top 5 at the moment? 2010 is nearing to an end, and next year would be a different story with Bey and Brit releasing albums

Considering Susan isn't all that relevant anymore, she's not in the top 5 IMO. Beyoncé and Britney aren't doing anything aside from recording so they aren't in the top 5 either. That leaves the top 5: Ke$ha, Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Rihanna.

Beyonce, Britney, and Gaga. The others don't really matter.

A top 5 without the original doll Brit and Queen Bey :'( What a sad state the music is in right now Well honestly, I don't find Britney's Circus to be better than Ke$ha's Animal or GaGa's Fame/Fame Mons†er same goes for Beyoncé's IASF. I get what you mean though. :)

To put Ke$ha above Rihanna is obvious? ??? yes. Less/smaller Hits & Less sales = bigger artist. Ok. I give.

Are we talking about hits or overall success, b/c if it's overall success, I'd say Tier 1 Britney, Beyonce, Gaga
Tier 2 Taylor, (Pink)
*Taylor is highly successful in the US but has only shown moderate worldwide success atm. It's the opposite w/ Pink. In the US, she's successful but not quite to the level she is outside the US, where's she enormous. She's actually been quite successful in the US but she's never really seemed as big at any point in her career as those in Tier 1. In the US, her actual success and her impact just don't seem to match.
Artists like Katy, Ke$ha and Rihanna may have hits but they've shown a lack of well-rounded success.

Less/smaller Hits & Less sales = bigger artist. Ok. I give. We're talking about today, as in currently. As in recently in the music world. To quote: So who do you guys think belongs in the top 5 at the moment? 2010 is nearing to an end, and next year would be a different story with Bey and Brit releasing albums Ke$ha's been running the game since her debut in a way very reminiscent of Gaga since hers, but not quite as powerful a force. Rihanna released her rated R effort around a similar time and only managed to get Rude Boy up and running as apposed to Ke$ha, who's debut Animal produced smash after smash, sans one BlahBlahBlah. In a two year time span in which both women have had material out there, Ke$ha has scored two number ones, three top ten singles for a debut artist, and a number one album. Rihanna, a well established artist, has scored the same number of number ones, same number of top tens, yet failed to reach number one or have consistent sales from the Rated R album. Animal on the other hand is still consistently selling. Again, Ke$ha is a debut whereas Rihanna is an "established artist.' Please note that all of these stats are from Billboard. Counting CHR since Ke$ha hit the scene, Ke$ha's ahead of Rihanna. In today's market where both women exist simultaneously, and because we're speaking of both in the modern market of how they would be received today, it's not really fair to drag Rihanna's previous success into this. Currently, Ke$ha is ahead. We're looking at it in today's game, not the game as a whole. anywayyyyyy

Where's the current Queen of country music Carrie Underwood??????Ok but seriously, granted Carrie doesn't have much presence on the singles chart, her current album still sold more than Rihanna's and Kesha's.Even her concerts have pulled in more than Rihanna's or Kesha's. Are album sales so undervalued nowadays? This forum seems to overvalue singles/radio chart performance and also this intangible thing called "cultural impact" and dismiss album sales as some quaint phenomenon confined to "country" or "old people buying music" ghettos. Sales are sales. If people cared enough for you to put their hard earned money into your pockets, that's enough "cultural impact" for me. I guess my point is: If Rihanna's and Kesha's singles success got them on the list,Carrie's album and tour sales should get her a place on this list as well. And this is coming from someone who's far from being a Carrie fan.

So either way, your list was not obvious. ;) #noshade #imjustsaying.

Like, a day ago lolol B) I suppose Britney and Rihanna are interchangeable then. Whereas Rihanna is getting hits, shaky as they may be, Britney who may have only released one bit of material (see 3) from a greatest hits easily managed a #1 BB debut as well as #2 CHR and is still receiving minor rotation from it despite its age. She's still got momentum going for her despite the gap, so I consider her still very much in the game (not just because she's my fav btw)

If there's only 8 elite female pop artists, is it really that big a deal who's in the top 5?

Boy please you know which format. Quit with the Rihanna shades, It's getting old. What was "lmao" about my comment? it's not shade and I honestly have no idea which format she got all these number one's on this year that made her outrank every other artist on this list. If you're speaking of billboard's, don't start the feature s**t in this thread too smh. Also worth noting, a few number one singles does not mean shit for her lol. I still maintain she isn't in the top five and if she is she's only there because of a tie with Ms. Spears.
