I haven't heard anything about a US radio release for "Starry Eyed" so what's the point in a video made for the US? It would be weird to even push it now. It peaked in the UK a year and a half ago already.

I wish they would just sent this for adds already. Too great of an album to waste.

I just wanted to share this with y'all.
This youtube clip is from when ellie first started out in the business.
She was so shy back then and she mentioned in interviews how she was terrified of looking into the audience's eyes.
And then look at this from her recent performance. (There's a crazy fan at 2:49 lols)
Fearless.
It's awesome to see an artist evolve like that :)

lol at that girl. My lucky sister got to see her at Lolla.
Yeah, I remember watching her on her first performance of Under The Sheets on tv and she looked so nervous it was kind of uncomfortable to watch her. Glad to see she's gotten much more comfortable and confident on stage. :)

She performed on Lopez show. It sounded like she was sick though, she was holding back a lot.

I was at Ellie's Lollapalooza show. It was great to see the crowd really get into her show and have a great response. There were several fights and clashes over the free starry eyed sunglasses that her management kept throwing in the audience before the show (ugh, they are only cheap sunglasses people ) Unfortunately the annoying fan got on stage twice during the show before she was escorted off the stage for good. >:(

So annoyed they're not sending it to radio! Same. I think she could easily see some backing now that she's toured twice, done some really great TV spots, and has a pretty loyal following on the internet. Foster the People are seeing some great commercial success and I find their music not as commercial as Ellie's. Unfortunately the annoying fan got on stage twice during the show before she was escorted off the stage for good. >:( LOL. She got on during Lights and then again during Starry Eyed which was essentially when the show was over.

Ok so i updated the thread very little. I'm super lazy and that's why i very, very rarely updated it but i'll work on that! Anywayssss. It seems that Lights the song is doing very well in the U.S all of the sudden, it's been climbing slowly and appairently the song has sold 900,000 copies, not sure if this is true though.

You found it! YAY! I looked back until like October of 2011 and gave up, so I automatically figured it wasn't made; I guess I was wrong. Anyway, this album is nearly flawless, and "Lights" isn't even the best song on the album. Personally, I think that the second half of the album is much better than the first, but the first half is still better than 95% of music today.

Starry Eyed was the first song that caught my attention and still my favorite from the album (heck, I've ranked it as my #2 song ever). Lights was the second and is also one of my favorites.
Guns and Horses took a few listens to stick, but each time I listen to it, I like it even more.
I don't have rankings of my favorite albums, but Lights would easily top 5.

My favorite songs on the album are always changing; currently "Your Biggest Mistake" is my favorite, but that might change soon. The one thing that makes this album so much better than her rivals' albums is Ellie herself. She's so darn cute! It's a shame she doesn't know she's my future wife yet.
She seems like such a nice person, and even though she's not smoking hot or anything, her features come together to make a girl-next-door that's really beautiful and really attractive in a classy way, if that makes sense. I really love her smile, too. Gosh, I can't think of a more perfect woman, plus she makes great music!

My favorite will always be Salt Skin, magical song and i love her haunting vocals on it. Can't wait for the next album, she has said in interviews once that it would be acoustic and then in another one she said it would be even more dance. Going to be interesting to see what happens

What's great about her is that her voice was made for many different genres. Some singers of today have their genres defined by their voices, but Ellie does dance and acoustic both equally well. Personally, I prefer her as an acoustic artist, but she's a great dance one too!

So I've been trying pretty hard not to post every other comment on this thread, but I give up. I don't want it to get lost in the pages, so here's a bump for it.
What's everyone's favorite lyric from the album? Personally, I keep going back to "it's a shame you don't know what you're running from" just because it has so many possible layers to it; it can apply to basically everyone, and we all are running from something for reasons we don't know. It was actually that line that made me go and purchase the album.
Also, I'm getting anxious about the new album! I'm so excited! I can't wait for a tentative release date or name for it so I/we can make a new album thread. She deserves at least as many pages and fans as Lana Del Rey, in my opinion. Lana is great, but Ellie is just... Ellie. She should have more fans.

"Why can't we speak another language, one we all agree on"
It speaks to me in a way off the world being at peace and just getting along. Something most of us wish for.
I think most of her songs have genious lyrics, she's a very good and unique song writer.

The opening lyrics of Every Time You Go are gould.
How about this, what should they release after 'Lights'. Should they go with the lead single from the new album, or Starry Eyed, or something else?

Personally, I think that if lights becomes a hit, they should delay the release of the album here until they can release an ample number of singles here. However, if the new album has songs that are even catchier and grab more than just her established fanbase, she should definitely try to send one out from the new album. It could be like an Adele where her second album hits HARD, but we won't know until it comes around.

I truly hope her second album is like Adele's in the way that it becomes big.
It doesn't really matter if she has a catchy song or not, we've seen how many unexpected songs have become hits, anything is possible.
I don't want a Lights pt 2 album, i hope for something very different from her, i have huge respect for artists that take risks and try something different for each album. But whatever if it's another electronica/folk album i'll be ok with it since her voice goes so well with it.

She's definitely going to have hits from her next record. I would have hoped that she'd have released Starry Eyed and Animal as singles in the U.S. but radio has taken too long to support Lights so I'd rather her release the second album in the U.S. after Lights becomes a moderate hit or hit.
She's worked with Bonnie McKee, Billboard, Ammo, and Starsmith on it thus far so there is plenty of good music to come.

Bonnie McKee has become a hitmaker in her own right (Katy, Kelly), so it gets me pretty excited at the thought of her having that type of success here in America.

Nice to see other producers and not just Starsmith this time but i'm glad he's a producer again for this album.
Really, really excited about this now that i've seen who the other producers have worked with. This is going to be a even more dance influenced album.

Watching her live performances, I realize just how underrated she is as a vocalist. She's absolutely amazing, but she doesn't get any credit for it, which is a travesty.

She can do so many things with her voice it's really interesting and unique, she may not have the strongest voice in the industry but she def knows how to work with what she's got and she's always trying new things with her voice which i love.
