She can do so many things with her voice it's really interesting and unique, she may not have the strongest voice in the industry but she def knows how to work with what she's got and she's always trying new things with her voice which i love.
I couldn't agree more. Her voice isn't as strong as others, but on top of the vocal acrobatics, she always manages to stay in tune. She's rarely off pitch, something that can't be said for almost any other singer today.
That arrangement was FANTASTIC. I haven't watched many performances of "Lights," but the strings that were added in the beginning just elevated it to a different level. I wish she would release a version with that on there because it was nothing short of amazing. I was just completely floored by the whole thing.
Is there any way to track how much the album has sold in the US? I know it's sold, what, 600k in the UK, but my highest estimate in the US is maybe 60k. I know it hasn't sold much.
Late to the game...bought her album last week and am in love. And to think...she opened for Katy Perry when I saw her in November...but I skipped the opening act to go to happy hour.
^That song is so unique and cool, almost ethereal in a way! I love how you can recognize her voice from the very first expression she makes; nobody in the industry sounds like her.
That's a cool twist on what I'm used to hearing her sing; taking on an R&B sound, and what is really cool about is that she pulls it off and it proves how flexible and adaptive her voice is. If she did a few tracks like this on her second album I definitely wouldn't mind it.
Understatement. However, this is my most favorite Weeknd song and Ellie sounds fantastic on it so I'm going to completely overlook that. In a way I kind of appreciate it more since she's just now doing it, rather than right after The Weeknd first came out.
With Kelly and Ellie both being so successful right now, I don't think a time like this will ever come again. The two artists I am a hardcore fan of are both having huge hits around the same time. It makes me so happy! It would be a shame if singles from Lights don't get released and they move on to the next album, but if they can make some big hits for the next record, I'll be fine with that.
