New EP already? They could have easily gotten another 1-2 hits out of the current album. Oh well, I guess that's the trend now.

"Bam" & "Disgusting" were smashes waiting to happen. "There Will Be Tears," "Daydream" & "Oh Oh" had potential. "Shakespeare" was far to teenybop. "Hey You" was the most emotional & uplifting, but would not have done well at all.
Off the deluxe edition: "Brand New You" had teen anthem written all over it. "Adored" had tons of potential. "What Are You Waiting For?" was rather grating to listen to in the chorus & "Beautiful Mess" was fantastic but also kind of odd.
All in all she had an above average debut that could have done well if Columbia hadn't waited so long in between singles. About two months ago, Miranda had tweeted that she'd reveal the second single soon but that was obviously scrapped in favor of the new EP idea.
I can't say I'm completely disappointed though. Would she have had this song if they had continued supporting "Sparks Fly?" Probably not. On the other hand, I am still a bit sad they didn't release "Bam" nor "Disgusting" as follow-ups.

Oh & for those of you who are viewing this thread for the first time, the track was written by Max Martin, Shellback & Avril Lavigne. It is produced by Max Martin.
Miranda flew to Sweden less than three weeks ago to record the song and she has begun recording the other tracks for the EP as of this Tuesday.

Ummm early contender for my most played song of 2011 right here! Miranda's coming for your fav's wig. Yup. This should easily cross 100 plays for me and dethrown The Jason Remix of Kissin U as my most played Cosgrove track . Godney or GaGa's single will likely be my #1 most played single next year tbh. This should easily make my year end top 10 :).

This is actually surprisingly cute.
It's thematically like a kiddies version of Tik Tok (or whatever ke$ha single of your choice) or something. LMAO.
So damn poppy.. would do much better in the summer imo. Which it is here, hence why I kinda love this.
I love the 'Didja hear me say that?' parts.

To be honest... this > everything else out right now. It's just that catchy. Ke$ha called she wants her song back. Avril also left a message saying she wants her voice back.

Somebody has to. I really thought I'd like it since I am a sucker for teen pop music (see my last.fm plays for Miley) but this just isn't for me.

Miley's Can't Be Tamed is one of my favorite pop albums of the year. This, however, isn't even catchy or pleasing enough to listen to like Kissin U initially was. (I grew tired of that after 3 listens or so)

"Can't Be Tamed" was quite bland? Can't stop playing this incredibly catchy song. It's so pleasing to listen too.

Am I missing something here? I think this song is awful.
Or is there just something inherently deep about the lyrics "I like you and you like me, we get together and we're happy"?

the track was written by Max Martin, Shellback & Avril Lavigne. It is produced by Max Martin. It being probably a leftover from Avril's sessions with Max Martin doesn't sound good to me.. I think the lyrics fit Miranda but are way too childish imo for Avril. Anyway, I think this will do better than Kissin U.

This is another cut-and-paste version of every other big pop song this year...but at least this time it's coming from a tween artist and not someone who has shown they are actually capable of doing better than this.
I liked Kissin' U a lot better though. Nothing I'd buy or anything but it was a catchy song that was fun to listen to when it came on the radio. This is just...annoying.
I think the fact that Miranda Cosgrove is releasing material about on par with people like Pink and Avril says a lot about the current state of pop music though.

I find this really melodic and 'cute', that's about it.

the track was written by Max Martin, Shellback & Avril Lavigne. It is produced by Max Martin. lol i was about to ask who produced it. He had to do it during after hours with 1/100th of his usual budget or just left it to some intern to produce it for him.......well to be fair her highly annoying voice is not his fault. BTW. ROFL at the hyperbole and people putting it on the sale level as Pink's or Ke$ha's songs. Vastly entertaining.

Based off the clip of What the Hell, this song sounds a lot like it. I guess that's not really a surprise considering Avril wrote this song, too.

I find this really melodic and 'cute', that's about it. Right before listening to it I actually went in with the inclination to LIKING it because avril contributed to writing it. I'm glad she scrapped this. I thought "Kissin U" was far superior and she's got better songs than this on her album.

The rapping reminds me so much of a cleaner version of Ke$ha. Especially the "that" part at the end of "did you hear me say that" which is autotuned like Ke$ha's stuff.
