Britney has a huge fanbase, we can't deny that, but GaGa is a lot newer and I think people are a lot more eager to see what she has up her sleeve this time around. I think the people that are going to like Britney already do and those who don't probably never will. She's consistent. GaGa just has this "whats she gonna do for her next album?" stigma that may work in her favor. At the end of the day though, its really anyone's guess. I mean, if Britney's single was AMAZING and GaGa's disappoints, then I think Britney would have the edge over her. I think if they debuted the same day and were released that same day to itunes, GaGa would win, assuming both have top notch singles. Mainly because of radio. I just see GaGa's lead single getting a disgusting amount of first week spins no matter how it sounds.

There's more hype for Gaga's single than Britney's. It could go either way, though.

Britney: longer absence from radio and the biggest music "icon"/royalty brand from the past decade.

I guess it's safe to say Britney won this one LEGENDARY If 3 (a greatest hits single) could manage this feat, than I had no doubt in my mind that she would do it again with a lead single off a studio album. This was pretty obvious tbqh . I'm expecting Brit to get her first 4x platinum single .

I really wish people wouldn't sneer at GaGa because HIAM is so big. BTW could always be a bit bigger. It's definitely a possibility IMO. A lot of you may have egg on your face by the time February 19th comes along.

I just don't see it happening again so soon. We won't have to wait too long though. Gaga's single is going to premiere in a couple of weeks, and we will see the reception she ends up getting. HIAM has already set the bar as high as pretty much possible. Gaga would have to do a lot at this point to break Britney's records. Strongly doubt she is getting a better reception at Pop. Which pretty much broke their back getting her to #16 in a week period, and helped her demolish Eminem's spin record. Perhaps she will get a stronger reception on Rhythmic, Hot AC, but I don't see this happening again for quite sometime for Pop.

We won't have to wait too long though. Gaga's single is going to premiere in a couple of weeks, and we will see the reception she ends up getting. HIAM has already set the bar as high as pretty much possible. Second biggest airplay debut on her core format for a female (second only to Mariah), combined with biggest airplay debut on the Airplay chart (tied with Mariah's TMB @ no.23), and biggest sales debut for a female artist. Gaga would have to do a lot at this point to break Britney's records. Strongly doubt she is getting a better reception at Pop. Perhaps she will get a stronger reception on Rhythmic, Hot AC, but I don't see this happening again for quite sometime. Did you expect Britney to get 50 million AI, sell 411k, and break airplay and sales records in one week? No one knows what to expect but it's best to not put it past one of this decade's biggest icons.
