The single cover is better than the album cover, IMO.

RELEASE DATE: SEP 13One of the worst album covers of the year X2. That outer glow on the word 'Deluxe' makes me cringe. The whole thing is awful though.

I have no intrest in buying either record, but I actually like Brantleys cover. It sure beats the laundry mat cover above. Ack!

I like that title. Eleven. And it comes out on 10/11/11. That's cute. And the cover looks good too.

Some of those song titles sound pretty promising, and don't even get me started on how gorgeous that album cover is!

It's been a long journey since last year when I auditioned for American Idol, and you've been with me every step of the way. That's why I wanted you to be the first to know the details of my debut album. After all of the hard work over the last year, I am excited to tell you that my album, Clear As Day, will be released on Oct. 4 on Mercury Nashville/19 Recordings/Interscope. We've been working hard on this album not only in Nashville, but in studios across the country because I've been on the Idol tour. We're putting what I believe are the best songs we could find on it and I really hope everyone likes it. The whole experience has been amazing! I love working with my album producer, Mark Bright, and have gotten to work with some of the best musicians in Nashville! (I love being able to say 'my album'!) We've also got songs on it from some of the best songwriters in country music. I'm so fortunate to have so many talented people contributing to my first album. Clear As Day is definitely country and it's definitely me. It has some old country influences and elements, but it also has a contemporary feel with fun up-tempo songs. It's a good mixture. You can hear some of the influences that I grew up with, like Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and Merle Haggard, but it still has a contemporary twist and feel that keeps it up to date. We tried to pick songs that related to me, but also songs that others would feel and relate to. That is the main goal: to make an album that you like. We focused on making the best music possible. I can't wait for you to hear it and let me know what you think. I'm really proud of it and so grateful to have the opportunity to record an album before my 18th birthday. Of course, none of the success of the last year would have been possible without you, so let me end by sayingthanks for everything. See you on the road! Scotty About Lauren's...its called "Wildflower" and will be out Oct 11. www.scottmccreery.org/scotty-mccreery-clear-as-day-preview-demo-by-phil-o%E2%80%99donnell/ Here is the demo of the title track "Clear as Day" as sung by the guy who wrote it. Can't wait to hear his version! Sounds like early Garth or Chesney IMO.

I'm not a fan of Lauren Alaina. Last season of Idol was the fist time I watched a full season since Kellie's. Lauren's personality just didn't click with me. But, it does kind of bother me that since post Idol it seems as if they have done just about everything together. I think releasing their records a week apart isn't going to benefit Lauren in the long run.
I wish they would just cut the cord already. To me it just seems like her career is always going to be overshadowed by Scotty's.

Kinda hard not to be 'tied at the hip' when your careers come from the same show and are stuck touring together (and could tour together again next year)... Both CDs will be moderately successful but Scotty could get a big week.

^ and ^^. I agree with the two of you. If Lauren Alaina wants to be a successful artist, she should distance herself from Scotty McCreery. This is the first time in American Idol history that the final two contestants have a country leaning to them. I can not fathom Carrie Underwood's career to be indefinitely linked to Bo Bice's even if he did have country music on his mind during his Idol run. To think that Alaina's and McCreery's debut CDs are being released a week apart tells me that Mercury/Interscope wants to keep them together as a marketing thing and not really promote them as separate acts (which they are). However, there will come a time when their second (or third) CDs get released, that they will be months apart from each other.

RELEASE DATE: SEP 13 Brantley Gilbert to Release His First Album with the Valory Music Co.For a small-town Georgia boy, Brantley Gilbert is making a big impact “country wide.” The lead single, “Country Must Be Country Wide,” off his debut album with The Valory Music Co. is quickly making its way up the charts, already escalating into the Top 20. The impending project, HALFWAY TO HEAVEN DELUXE, is slated for release on September 13, 2011 in stores and online. Scott Borchetta, President and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group, said, "Time has come! The demand for this album, of which all tracks have been remixed and remastered, is off the hook. BG's fans are the full compliment of 'fan'… as in 'fanatic'. I've never seen anything like it. His live shows are an experience, his songs anthems, his personality contagious. I personally can't wait to get the final CD! This is really, really exciting." Although he is one of the fastest-rising new Country artists of 2011, Gilbert’s already achieved two #1 hits as a songwriter. Gilbert co-wrote both “My Kinda Party” and “Dirt Road Anthem,” which were recorded by Jason Aldean for his Platinum-selling album, MY KINDA PARTY. Gilbert’s true-to-life lyrics – coupled with his distinct, raw vocals – make HALFWAY TO HEAVEN DELUXE an album for fans of Country and Southern Rock alike. His online music video for “Kick It In The Sticks” has garnered over 5.8 million views, proving Gilbert already has mass appeal. “As we tour country wide each night, I continue to realize that my fans in the crowd are just like me. They are my closest friends because they listen to my music, they sing along with me and they have been through the same type of experiences. This album is essentially a storybook of my life and I am excited to see what those friends have to say about it,” says Gilbert. The album’s original 12 tracks have been remixed and remastered to sound the way that Brantley originally intended. The Deluxe Edition includes three newly recorded songs produced by award-winning music producer Dan Huff as well as videos for the hit single 'Country Must Be Country Wide' and the already-classic 'Kick It In The Sticks' and an up-close and personal behind the scenes interview with Gilbert. Gilbert, who is also known for his high-energy live performances and fiercely loyal fans, spent the earlier part of this summer on the Willie Nelson Country Throwdown Tour. Throughout the fall, he will continue to play shows across the country. With his legendary catalogue, they chose that song to be included?

With his legendary catalogue, they chose that song to be included? I thought the same thing. And also thought how somebody cared enough to craft a decent album cover, as compared to his new studio disc.

I wish artists would get back to putting out solid records with just enough drival to feed the radio machine. As it stands I'll probabily just download "The Journey Of Your Life" & maybe one or two others. I loved his debut record , but found his sophmore effort lacking. From the samples I'd say this one lines him up with Luke Bryan as the years most boring record.

The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams, a new collection of previously unheard songs by the country great recorded by artists such as Bob Dylan, Jack White, Norah Jones and Levon Helm, will be released on October 4th. The set, which will be issued on Dylan's imprint Egyptian Records, was originally conceived by veteran A&R executive Mary Martin as a Dylan-centric project, but eventually evolved into a multi-artist tribute to the late singer-songwriter. The songs featured in the set were rescued from notebooks left behind in a leather briefcase by Williams after he died in 1953 at the age of 29. The notes contained lyrics and song ideas that were finished by the 13 artists who contributed to the disc. The full story of Williams' notebooks will be told in the album's liner notes, which were penned by Michael McCall of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The full tracklisting for The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams is as follows: Alan Jackson "You've Been Lonesome, Too" Bob Dylan "The Love That Faded" Norah Jones "How Many Times Have You Broken My Heart?" Jack White "You Know That I Know" Lucinda Williams "I'm So Happy I Found You" Vince Gill and Rodney Crowell "I Hope You Shed a Million Tears" Patty Loveless "You're Through Fooling Me" Levon Helm "You'll Never Again Be Mine" Holly Williams "Blue Is My Heart" Jakob Dylan "Oh, Mama, Come Home" Sheryl Crow "Angel Mine" Merle Haggard "The Sermon on the Mount" www.alanjackson.com/news.html?n_id=3206

There's definitely some disposable material here, and I would definitely like it better if he had stuck to a more neo-traditional path, but it's still not bad for what it is. Barefoot Blue Jean Night has been my favorite song of the summer, and Anywhere With You, Apple Pie Moonshine, Heaven, and especially The Journey Of Your Life all sound really good from the clips. And nothing's as brash and awful as 8 Second Ride - so that's a plus.
