People are trying to get Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' tour cancelledIf you havenβt already heard, Miley Cyrusβ Bangerz tour has been a little, well, uncomfortable for most. Pictures and videos of Miley performing on stage in her usual provocative and crazy ways have been surfacing the internet, and parents who have taken their children to see the pop star's newest tour arenβt pleased at all. People should accept this from Miley, considering her most recent actions, and although her fans may love everything about what sheβs doing because thatβs who she is, parents are trying to have the tour cancelled.MusicFix has exclusively learned that Mileyβs management team has been getting a ton of complaints saying that she has taken it too far in her performance. So far, Miley has been on stage in a revealing body suit covered in marijuana leaves, riding a hot dog, pretending to give oral sex to a man in a Bill Clinton mask, basically pleasuring herself on top of a car and of course, twerking. A source revealed to the site that, βMileyβs management have been flooded with complaints, mainly from parents, since her tour began last week in Canada, with calls for the entire tour to be axed.βHer management team, record label and tour staff - which includes the director, costume department and choreographers - have all been called in for an emergency meeting because of the amount of people who want to pull the show. One parent has even contacted the boss at Mileyβs label, Interscope, saying that they had to walk out of the show way before it ended. They claimed that they would βnot subject their nine-year-old to a porn show.β The tour has no age limit or rating guide, the only rule is that children are only allowed to attend if a parent accompanies them.Since the show began, more and more people have been putting the tickets up on eBay and Stubhub after hearing what Miley has been doing on stage. But Miley is just trying to have fun. Mercury News reports that Miley spoke about the tour in in a recent press teleconference saying, βI make my albums to be able to travel and to be able to go on the road. Thatβs really kind of what I love to do more than anything.β She then went on to explain how she didnβt want to give away any surprises about the tour because βnothing in her life is ever a secret.β Her goal is to just keep the show really fun. βThatβs what I think Iβm kind of representing more than anything in the past year,β she said. βFun and [being] carefree, and thatβs what the show represents.β Source
What kind of parents would take their 9 year olds to see Miley Cyrus? Really? She hasn't been kid friendly in like 4 years! They have to be pretty ignorant if they think she is still doing her Hannah Montana stuff after her VMA performance from last year? They talked about it for nearly 40 days straight on Entertainment Tonight and it was on the cover of so many magazines, newspapers, and even the evening news (even Scott Pelley knew what was up and it was not the NASDAQ). Let's pretend for a minute that these few parents who took their children to see the show genuinely didn't know because they were too busy focusing on their family, you have to have no TV, internet, any connection to the outside world to not know that this happened. Even if you didn't see it personally, Miley is such a household name right now that almost everyone knows. My 8 year old niece has never seen the performance, but she thinks Miley is dirty and gross. After all the controversies and discussions taking place after she does something shocking and attention-seeking in the last year from twerking and letting Robin Thicke freak her body on stage and doing lewd things with foam fingers to licking hardware and riding a wrecking ball butt naked to smoking weed on stage to simulating masturbation in her music video, I have to blame the parents and judge them a bit. The show is called BANGERZ! What did they think she would be doing on stage? Serving sausages and potatoes? I mean, she is serving up plenty of another kind of sausage on stage so that's kind of a bad example. This is such a mess.

Looks like adore you is at 21 on the hot 100 his week. All i want is a top 20 peak and hopefully the remaining singles will all glide into top 20. I'm still disappointed that she chose to be vulgar for the video. It would have been perfect if all she did was do a simple romantic video. Ppl need breaks between controversy. We cant stop controversial Wrecking ball controversial Adore you just a mature quality track Get it right controverial 4x4 or bangerz controversial Drive just a mature quality track Oh well...she made her bed.

The only thing really shocking about Miley is how shocked people continue to be with her. She's hardly the first to do most of what she's doing but people are still up in arms over it as if she is. It seems the shtick never gets old and that's why it keeps getting used.
And in rewatching the video for Secret by Madonna, was there any criticism of her for using black people as "props" to help support her newfound R&B sound?

And in rewatching the video for Secret by Madonna, was there any criticism of her for using black people as "props" to help support her newfound R&B sound? No. It was in an era before the internet would erupt into mass hysteria over the slightest thing. Her prior album Erotica also had some R&B and Hip Hop songs on it (all the Andre Betts produced tracks, and of course Shep Pettibone's production of the title track) so it was more of a gradual shift to R&B. It seems that if anyone does anything that isn't from their own culture or ethnicity, these days, it's labeled as misappropriation, cultural appropriation, or cultural mocking. What happened to embracing other cultures and showcasing it? As long as it is done respectfully. Being Indian, I was not offended when Selena Gomez incorporated Indian music into "Come And Get It" and the bindis and outfits into her live performances. Same with Dana International and Iggy Azealia doing Bollywood movie styled music videos with the costumes and everything. Perhaps the shift towards being so PC about stuff has made it such that as soon as someone does something, they have to shriek "OH SHE MISAPPROPRIATED! BOYCOTT HER!". Everything is from some other culture somewhere. With Madonna, the label didn't put her on the cover of the "Everybody" singles because some thought she sounded African American so they didn't want to ruin the image some had formed in their minds about her. Some of her 80s stuff charted on the R&B charts at that time. In later years, she incorporated various cultural and musical elements of Spanish, Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern cultures and subcultures into her songs, music videos, live performances, tours, and costumes and there was only minimal controversy (some Hindu fundamentalists disapproved of her wearing a bindi and henna while simultaneously wearing a see through blouse).

Someone just sent me a video good enough to send Wrecking Ball back to #1. WB will always be her signature song.

I never saw the Secret video as being inappropriate because she's not just flanking herself with those POC. The video is ABOUT them. But at the same time, 2 weeks ago she casually used the N word as a grown ass woman so that shows how much she cares about black people's feelings.
And I don't get why everyone (not just on this board) thinks it's somehow too PC to not take imagery or traditions from other cultures and then use them as a fashion statement? Like with the bindi controversy, Hindu women are constantly treated as backwards and outdated for wearing traditional clothing and jewelry and having pride in their culture but then Selena Gomez decides it's cute and she turns something with meaning and value to a group of people into a costume. She was not wearing that bindi out of reverence to Hindu culture and probably does not give a shit about what it means to the women who wear it everyday. She just thought it was a pretty jewel and would make her look exotic. Same with Miley. Same with a lot of Madonna's career decisions. It's not showing appreciation if you just wear something because you like how it looks without taking time to understand the meaning and value the garment or image has, especially if it's something that the originators are ostracized or oppressed for wearing. People just come off as ignorant and lazy if they think they can just take and use items with cultural significance and turn them into popular trends.

I'm Hindu and I don't even see how Selena Gomez was being controversial, if anything, I appreciated the song, her performances, and the choreography.
While Miley comes off as offensive to some, I see her as being rebellious and obnoxious. I always had respect for Miley, but I never cared for her music. But Miley won me over with the twerking (I absolutely LOVE twerking and don't care whoever is against it), her sexual liberation, and most importantly, this current album. I could do without some of her antics, but this is where she is at the present moment. You either love it, dislike it, or don't care.

I think Pharrell put it best in The Movement.
"You have to remember this a 20-year-old evolving. Her dad is Billy Ray Cyrus, her godmother is Dolly Parton, and she grew up in the era when kids listen to hip-hop. People ask, 'Why is she twerking? Why is she doing this? Because she's a byproduct of America."

Yeah...it's not like Miley is dropping N bombs like Madonna (and by the way, I find it VERY interesting that she chose to refer to her only white child as an ***I'M RACIST*** and not the others...) or using the word with full -er ending, in a derogatory way, but then being photographed hanging off of Black people and working with them, a la Paris Hilton. I don't believe she has any ill intentions towards Black people or the culture, whatsoever, no matter how people construe it.

Madonna used the term "***I'M RACIST***h." No -er. Said by millions of white, black. brown teenagers each day...

Please do not defend that ancient mayonnaise scarecrow's use of a racial slur.
I don't think Miley has any ill intent but I also think that if she really cared so much about black culture, she would pay more attention to her actions and to the words of her critics. She just brushed them off as haters and refused to even consider their voices, which is unfortunately a scenario which is all too familiar for oppressed cultures being used in the mainstream. She is ignorant and as a grown woman, she doesn't have an excuse to not take accountability for the stuff she is doing and how it makes other people feel.

I once read a blog post somewhere during the peak of the discussion about Miley's performance that said maybe Miley sides with those who believe that people should stop focusing so much on past actions of previous generations and being victimized or something. Something to the effect that people who participate in black culture shouldn't need permission to do so and that accusing them of being racist is ultimately holding everyone back because it further created an "us vs. them" mentality. I'm not saying I agree and certainly doubt that Miley herself has given it much thought but I thought it was an interesting perspective.

Please do not defend that ancient mayonnaise scarecrow's use of a racial slur. Quote of the century, tbqhwy. Also, I only brought up Madonna's appalling actions for context. For the record, I don't care how many people use the word, nor do I care how she spelled it. Fact remains: I'm pretty sure Miley isn't racist but I also think she is oblivious and is very quick to write off "haters" as just that. I'm sure all the Black people that she hangs out with are cool with her.

What do we think Mileys next single should be? The Spring/summer single? I think either Bangerz, or the song with Future.

There is a rumor that the next single is "4x4" and the video with Nelly was already shot. If true it really should be released to Radio as soon as possible, considering "Adore You" is not existent at the moment.

What do we think Mileys next single should be? The Spring/summer single? I think either Bangerz, or the song with Future. Neither. Britney's stock is down so there is no plus to that song being released. #GETITRIGHT deserves a release. It's a smash hit through and through.
