So who's gonna own 2011? Both superstars are going to release albums at around the same time. Who will be the bigger story? Just predict and we will see after the year is over who actually did more

I really believe that Britney is going to be back in full form and not even Gaga will outdo her.

Anything could happen, and I can easily see a scenario in which Gaga releases music that doesn't get the same massive radio play that TFM era did and that Britney gets her shit together and takes 2011 by storm...
...but for now I think Gaga has the upper hand and I'll vote for her. First singles and their reception will say a lot.

There's a lot you have to take into account when comparing these two, and the way these era's are looking, they're both going to be massive. There's a bit more mystery surrounding Gaga's though. As many have said, anything could happen, but I'm taking a shot here and putting my money on Britney.

Most likely GaGa, but I voted for Britney anyway just because I could.

It's Gaga's game to lose right now, and I think even if she does become insanely successful her drop off from The Fame/Monster will be a defeat in and of itself that can't be avoided. That being said Gaga has everything going for her in terms of momentum, so she is in a much better place. But that is also another reason why her fall will be that much greater when sales don't supersede that of her last album. She isn't going to outdo Fame most likely. Singles nor Album sales. But she will most likely out do Britney. But she won't out do herself which is perhaps more important.

Gaga. There's simply more interest in her at the moment once removed from our little pop diva internet forum bubbles & standom. She's the new phenomenon. People will naturally be more curious once her new product drops given her larger-than-life persona, seeming omnipresence and relative newness.
I think Britney's era will be similar to her last performance-wise: good and very respectable but not the blockbuster numbers she was turning in when she was a fresher act. Her built-in fanbase will still be there but the "comeback" buzz is not going to be where it was in winter of 2008 no matter how hard an attempt is made to recreate it. Spears would need a magical combination of impressive material and promotion to do much better than her last outing at this juncture.

out of the two, GaGa - Britney hasn't "owned" any year in the past, so I can't see her "owning" 2011

Not really indicative of anything other than Britney possibly having more fans than GaGa on Pulse. Anyways I say GaGa. If only for the effort she puts into her work (videos, epic performances, not to mention the music itself). Plus she's premiering her new song at the Grammy's and Glee has already decided to dedicate one of their shows to "Born this Way". The hype surrounding her will only grow as her release approaches. With Britney it just seems like she's releasing another album with bubblegum pop music (of wihch I'll love of course). I suppose anything could happen, though. Edit: And I'll ignore the blatant disregard for Queen Beyonce in this poll

Gaga. Britney might have a lot of fans, but I really can't imagine her being bigger than Gaga overall this year.

GaGa. Not because I much prefer her and would probably choose her either way, but because of all her momentum from TF & TFM. She had six straight number ones, and both albums sold massively, and the last single was only released around April. Britney's last single was longer ago than that, and she hasn't had any really massive, long-lasting hits, especially in sales, since 2004-ish. Britney may have a larger fanbase, but I think GaGa will win by far. And LMAO at those pics!

It's easy to say that GaGa has this in the bag based on the enormity of her past era(s), but really, who knows? It's been proven numerous times that a huge previous era doesn't necessarily mean that the artist in question will continue to be so successful in the future. At this point, it could go either way. GaGa has a lot of buzz, but I'd say Britney has even more. I really believe that Britney is going to be back in full form and not even Gaga will outdo her. I agree with this.
