Well, it appears that WLIT has dropped AT10, the damn turds! So, unless it was just a coincidence and they happened not to get the show just a week after they failed to run it (due to Christmas music), I'll no longer be able to post the AT10 chart here. If someone else could do it, that would be greatly appreciated. Hmm, maybe I can restart my CHR Flashback feature five months sooner than I thought. We'll see.

When Casey introduced "She Will Be Loved" at #10, he said it dropped 7 notches from #3. :o

Does anybody know what was being used for the "last week" positions?
I wonder how they've been handling the LDD's over the past few months. During December, there were several dedications heard on AT20 but not on AT10, due to Christmas programming. This week, there was a dedication here on AT10 but not on AT20 due to the year-end countdown. Very confusing.
Also, I didn't really think "Yesterday" was appropriate for the theme this week. He specified that Paul McCartney was the artist being spotlighted, yet he played a Beatles song. And while it may be true that Paul hit the AC chart 4 decades running, does anybody really remember any of his hits since the mid-1980's?

Also, I didn't really think "Yesterday" was appropriate for the theme this week.Β He specified that Paul McCartney was the artist being spotlighted, yet he played a Beatles song.Β And while it may be true that Paul hit the AC chart 4 decades running, does anybody really remember any of his hits since the mid-1980's? That doesn't matter - he hit the AC chart for four decades in a row. In the 1970s, most of his hits were with Wings (such as "With A Little Luck" and "Goodnight Tonight"), though I think he was solo with his first few hits (i.e. "Another Day"). In the 1980s, his hits included "Take It Away" and "No More Lonely Nights", in the 1990s, he had "Put It There" and this decade he had "From A Lover To A Friend" and "Freedom". Whether anyone remembers these hits or not wouldn't have any bearing on the fact that he hit the AC chart four decades in a row (five, if you count his hits with the Beatles). But you're right, they should have played one of his solo hits or at least one of his songs with Wings (The two I mentioned above or "Band On The Run" would be playable at AC radio) By the way, what's this new "Optional Songs" feature?

Yes, those songs may be played by the radio stations or the stations could just use the allotted time for local commercials.
(i was just about to post when the above post beat me to it!) :)

Oh, so those weren't part of the countdown? Yes and No I guess. I have seen the cue sheets for this show, and it says the outcue for the segment is "...hits from coast to coast". Thus it appears that it can be part of the countdown, but wouldn't be missed if not aired.

Does anybody know what was being used for the "last week" positions? The 1/1/05 show was R&R from 12/17/04. I'm guessing that last week's positions were taken from the "spins without Delilah/gross impressions" chart they'd been using since the spring of 2003. It wouldn't make any sense to use last week's rankings from the 11/17/04 chart (Casey's last regular survey) and debut all the first-time songs. Charts still exist regardless of special programming. And not refrencing last week's positions at all is a cop out. Next week's chart will probably be an unpublished R&R chart ("trending chart" I think it's called).

Two of the current chart acts fit that category: Elton and Hall & Oates.

I'd guess it was actually a writer's error. It's possible that "This Love" was at #3 on the previous chart, and they got their Maroon5 songs confused while writing the intro for the newer title at #10.

I think this is the most logical explanation. "She Will Be Loved" is still quite new at AC, so it couldn't have been that high.

Well, it looks like nobody knows anyway, since we haven't seen a reply. Maybe Casey's staff didn't take the time to proofread the script since, due to about six weeks of holiday specials, they figured very few people would know what the chart looked like during the long break.

I didn't hear the show, but if Casey said:
"Let's recap last weeks top 3.
At #3, She Will Be Loved...
At #2, This Love...
And at #1, Heaven..."
then the 7-point drop to #10 was accurate with the unpublished chart from the week before.

True, except that "She Will Be Loved" was nowhere near that high during the holidays (even with all the bizarre chart movements due to Christmas music and yearend countdowns). Unless the unpublished chart was supplied by Rick Dees's staff or something.Β ;)

What did Casey say about the chart movement of "This Love"?

I guess he must have, though, but I was so overwhelmed by disappointment they weren't airing the yearend countdown that I tuned out for a sec.

Here's the top 10: 1: Heaven 2: This Love 3: She Will Be Loved 4: Breakaway 5: In My Daughter's Eyes 6: You'll Think of Me 7: I'll Be Around 8: Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away 9: 100 Years 10: The Reason A note was attached to the chart that stated something like: due to the number of flips to Christmas formats, the active panel is signifcantly smaller. Thus, the stations that they still monitored must've been playing a lot of Maroon 5. :)

Thanks for posting the chart.
Wow, "Breakaway" and "The Reason" placed quite a bit higher than usual too. I guess the Hot AC-leaning AC's are the ones that tend to not go All-Christmas.

Well, I just found out last night that WLIT dropped AT10, so unfortunately, I will no longer be able to post the chart here. Unless I find a station that runs the show that's tunable on my radio and runs the show at a convenient time. Someone at Premiere e-mailed me last night and said that he would send me a list of all AT10 affiliates, so that might help. Until then, someone else will have to take the reins.
