There was a bizarre news item about him last week. It wasn't a car accident or public sexcapades, but it's just as A guy who looked very similar to George created a dating profile on a gay dating site where he posted that he was looking for an anonymous rendezvous. His management already did damage control regarding this. It was an odd coincidence as George was visiting Australia at the time this happened and the person who made it also claimed that he was in Australia too. Enough about his personal life. There is some music news as well. The Faith album reissue which was planned for last year was delayed to this year and will finally happen.
From his website: Here’s the news you’ve all eagerly been awaiting! We’re very excited to confirm that the new release date for Faith remastered is January 31, 2011 (February 1, 2011 in the US).
Although Faith will be available in multiple special formats, you can PRE-ORDER the very special limited edition numbered collectors box set RIGHT NOW! My Play Direct via GeorgeMichael.com is the only place to get this exclusive version before it sells out!
This AMAZING package includes: • Remastered album • CD of remastered 12" versions/B-sides • DVD featuring TV special from 1987, George Michael and Jonathon Ross Have Words, a 25-minute Music Money Love Faith EPK & seven remastered promo videos • Stunning 60-page, hard-bound book that includes an exclusive interview with George Michael, sleeve notes, rare photos & memorabilia • Vinyl album replica of the original LP • Memorabilia envelope that includes five art prints, reproduction poster, tickets & tour pass from the Faith tour sourced from George Michael’s personal archive • All housed in a 12 x 12 numbered, black and gold-foiled slipcase
THE FIRST 2,000 ORDERS WILL ALSO RECEIVE AN EXCLUSIVE NUMBERED ART PRINT DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR GEORGEMICHAEL.COM FANS!
PLUS, when you purchase the exclusive box set with art print from My Play Direct via GeorgeMichael.com, you will receive an instant MP3 download of the massive club mix of "I Want Your Sex"! Superstar dance act, Freemasons, have remixed tracks from artists including Beyoncé, Whitney Houston and Shakira. Now they have teamed up with George Michael to bring you this massive 10-minute club mix of "I Want Your Sex".
The Faith box set will ship on or before January 31, 2011 from the EU via UPS Express Saver (two-three days). Taxes and duties, where applicable, will be calculated during checkout. With all the exciting news coming your way, be sure follow the GeorgeMichel.com Team on Twitter Price: $141.57
That Freemasons remix of "I Want Your Sex" surfaced in late September. It was released on one of those DMC DJ compilations a few weeks ago. Freemasons remix video: This is just an edit with the slower section which is based on the original version. The full mix is over 10 minutes long with a faster section appearing before and after the slower one. Think of that Freemasons mix of Kelly Rowland's "Work" which was structured similarly.

George has a new single coming out called "Every Other Lover In The World." He announced it a few months ago. This is reportedly a remix version of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkrkcn4lEBsClips of the remixes from the upcoming remix EP can be heard here: soundcloud.com/bigbeat-3/eolGeorge did announce on Twitter that the song is a House song stylewise so the album version may be significantly different from what some of us are used to from him.

Not here for generic house music from George. Haven't really liked anything he's released post-Patience.

BREAKING NEWS: George Michael hospitalized, in intensive care unit On Monday, British singer George Michael checked into an Austrian hospital for pneumonia. Soon after he cancelled the remaining dates on his world tour. Now he’s in an intensive care unit with doctors worrying that his lack of oxygen may stop his heart; and even Michael’s management has called his condition “bad.” Let’s hope for a speedy recovery for the pop icon. Doctors treating singer George Michael on the 13th floor of the Vienna AKH general hospital say his condition has worsened overnight. He was hospitalised on Monday after a doctor was called to his suite at the Hotel imperial in Vienna's posh first district and diagnosed breathing difficulties. He was taken by ambulance to the city's top Rudolfiner private hospital in the 19th district of the city, where a decision was taken to move him to the main general hospital - the AKH. The hospital refused to say why the star was moved but it is believed it was decided that the singer's condition was so acute that it would be better if he was moved to the AKH - the biggest in Europe and where many of the continent's top medical experts are based because of the advanced facilities it offers for research as well as treatment. The hospital has two skyscrapers, identified for navigating around the huge complex as the red tower and the green tower. He is currently in intensive care on the 13th floor of the red tower as a result of heart problems believed to be caused by the shortage of oxygen caused by his pneumonia. On Thursday afternoon he was fitted into a special full-body bed designed to keep all the pressure off his lungs and to help them to function - so far without any sign of improvement. Head doctor from the nearby Otto Wagner Hospital, Norbert Vetter, said that the reason a person with a lung problem was being treated in the cardiac unit probably lay in the fact that if there was a lung problem - and not enough oxygen being taken into the body - then that could affect the heart especially if the heart had already been damaged in some way. He added in the worst case the heart could cease to function. AKH spokeswoman Karin Fehringer said: "We have no comment to make on this matter at the request of the patient." But a hospital insider confirmed that the singer's condition had worsened. He said: "I have not seen him myself but cardiac specialists and internists are treating him round the clock." Internists specialise in treating adults with multi-system disease problems in hospitals. A spokesman for his management team would only confirm his condition remained "bad". ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/64652292.html

I hope he's not HIV POZ. :( Many are actually speculating about that given his recent appearance, weight loss, and penchant for random sexual encounters.

George Michael thanks hospital for saving lifeLONDON (AP) — Fighting back tears, singer George Michael appeared outside his London home Friday to acknowledge that he had nearly died during his monthlong battle with pneumonia. He said it had been "touch and go" while he was in the intensive care unit of a Vienna hospital battling an extremely dangerous form of pneumonia but that his representatives had "played it down" to avoid alarming his fans. "They spent three weeks keeping me alive basically," said the singer, who appeared to have lost weight during his ordeal. "I don't want to take you through all of it because some of it I want to protect my family from and I'm sure I'll get it all written down but it was by far the worst month of my life." He seemed short of breath and at times had trouble speaking during his 10-minute appearance. "I'm very weak but I feel amazing," the pop star said, wearing a gray overcoat and scarf as he stood in front of a decorated Christmas tree outside his imposing red brick home in the Highgate neighborhood of north London. The singer behind hits such as "Careless Whisper", "Faith" and "Father Figure" said the experience would make him more spiritual and appreciative of his life. "I have an amazing, amazing life and if I wasn't spiritual enough before the last four five weeks then I certainly am now," he said. Michael seemed overcome with emotion as he expressed gratitude for being alive and thanked the medical staff in Vienna for taking such good care of him. "I really, really, really, really, from the bottom of my heart, thank everybody who sent messages and everybody in that IC unit that made sure I'm still here today," Michael said. Michael did not provide many medical details about his illness, which forced him to cancel an extensive European tour. He had streptococcus pneumonia, a bacterial form of the disease that can sometimes lead to fatal complications. Michael spoke about having "woken up" 10 days ago, implying that he had been in a coma. He also revealed he had undergone a tracheotomy while in the hospital. This treatment would have helped him to breathe. "I spent the last 10 days since I woke up literally thanking people for saving my life which is something I have never had to do before and never want to do again," he said. Michael, 48, had been rushed to AKH Hospital in Vienna late last month after canceling a performance in the Austrian capital. He was released from the hospital Thursday and was deemed fit enough to fly to London, his primary home. During his hospital stay, some London newspapers reported that he was gravely ill even as the singer's publicists said he was improving. Michael's personal account of his illness Friday seemed to support the newspaper claims that he had been in a life-threatening situation. Very few details were released during his hospital stay, although Michael's doctors did say publicly he is not suffering from any underlying medical problems. Michael vowed to resume his career and perform for everyone who had a ticket for his canceled shows. He also said he wants to play one show for the doctors who worked so hard to keep him alive. "I'm incredibly, incredibly fortunate to be here and incredibly fortunate to have picked up this bug where I did because apparently the hospital in Austria that they rushed me to was absolutely the best place in the world I could have been to deal with pneumonia, so I have to believe that somebody thinks I've still got some work to do here," Michael said. www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5glEwQ_rrpr92yWnrspWDUWWgDjGA?docId=dd2d93fe97e5487a8a36978637ae97e1

I hope he's not HIV POZ. :( I get the vibe that he is. His partner also died of AIDS in the early 1990's. Anyway, he's released a new single called "White Light," which is basically about his near-death experience. It sounds exactly like "Precious Box" and is completely uninteresting IMO.

I agree on the comparison to "Precious Box", however, I think that song was far superior to this. I love the Shapeshifters remix of that.

I don't really like "White Light". George is one of my favorite male pop singers ever, but his recent music is just not doing it for me at all.

Well, this is the best I've seen him look in years! And I see he's still got his signature dance moves. Unfortunately, the song sounds horrible. I still love him though.

For me, his "Freedom" performance was definitely the highlight of the closing ceremony. He looked and sounded great!
Now I'm gonna need him to forget about "White Light" and come correct like I know he can...

"White Light" enters the UK singles chart at #15 following his poorly received performance of it at the Olympic closing ceremony last Sunday.

George Michael Completes Stint In Health ClinicGeorge Michael has spent two months in an Australian health clinic to tackle the problems which forced him to cancel a concert tour of the country. The British pop star had pulled out of a national tour of Australia in 2012 citing “major anxiety” and the need for “post traumatic counselling.” Michael’s cancellation came just two weeks before he was due to open the new Perth Arena – a gig which Elton John would slot into. Now, Britain’s The Sun newspaper is quoting unnamed sources who claim Michael has completed a two-month stint in Australia’s The Sanctuary, and has now returned to London. The former Wham frontman fell seriously ill with pneumonia in 2011, a condition which forced him to be hospitalized in Vienna, Austria. He later told reporters that his health was "touch and go" – that he’d spent some days on the brink of death. In the statement issued last September through the Australian promoter of his planned shows, Paul Dainty, Michael said, “By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year's illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience.” He added that his doctors “recommended complete rest and the type of post traumatic counselling which is available in cases like mine but I'm afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself…I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December.” www.billboard.com/articles/news/1556606/george-michael-completes-stint-in-health-clinic
