Second single from "For We Are Many". The band are currently shooting a video for this song. I prefer "Faithless", but this is solid too, and would have been my second choice.

This is certainly among the most radio friendly. i don't know about being radio friendly or not although it's one of the finest songs of the album..i was expecting one of faithless, won't go quietly, keepers of fellow man, the waiting one..i don't know why i didn't get into this song at first but right i really like it

Wow this song was promising, but the chorus is SOOOO bad. 6-4-1-5...really? What, are they Avril Lavigne now? Let's get Adam D back producing them so they don't churn out this shit. Pathetic.
Oh and Killswitch might benefit from Adam D producing them again as well.

vi-IV-I-V. It is THE pop chord progression of the last decade. Kelly Clarkson, three of Avril's biggest singles, Iyaz, One Republic, Ryan Cabrera, Michelle Branch, Lady Gaga...to name a few. The choruses of The Fray - "You Found Me" and Breaking Benjamin - "The Diary Of Jane" use it too, but those songs are better than most that are guilty of it.
This chord progression was originally nicknamed the "sensitive female" progression, but a lot of huge pop songs from both genders have used it recently. The point is, All That Remains has no business using this chord progression in the chorus of their songs. And if you're gonna be THAT cliché, you better be able to back it up with a really good song around it like The Fray or Breaking Benjamin did, but All That Remains imo churned out a boring-as-s**t song with it.
EDIT: Making fun of Nick for his newfound guilty pleasure reminded me that the chorus of HU's "Hear Me Now" also has a vi-IV-I-V chord progression. Icky....

Well I liked it. Heck, by the time it was over, I already liked it better than "Hold On." But I couldn't even hear the progression in relation to those particular Kelly Clarkson, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne and Hollywood Undead songs that you're obviously referring to.

^For what it's worth I liked the rest of the song, which actually makes me weirdly hate it more. I admit it's almost unfair, but the songs I tend to hate most are the ones that start promisingly and then just slay you with the either the overwhelmingly generic and cheesy chorus or the chorus that fears sounding generic and cheesy and thus ends up sounding completely underwhelming. But if you're gonna give me a really good intro, verse, and pre-chorus, then don't let me down with that pop-punk crap. That's how my psyche feels about this song.

There is good pop-punk and there is pop-punk crap. That chorus was of the pop-punk crap variety. Don't worry, my Blink 182 and New Found Glory CD collection suggests that I certainly can like some bands in the genre.

I had to re-listen to this to what you were talking about, and now I completely see it. As a pop-punk fanatic, I agree that there are amazing bands in the sub-genre and then there are some that just wish that they could be anywhere as good as the phenoms. Those are the kind of bands that make me think of how generic and cheesy they sound, which really turn me away from having a high morale of them. This chorus certainly fits right in there.

The instrumentation is typical uninteresting pop-punk, and then the vocal melody is not catchy enough to be a pop song. It's just boring. It's a shame to me because I like the pre-chorus part quite a lot.
